Part 3
Even if he were sold, he wouldn’t fetch this price. Thinking of his family’s current situation, the boy sucked in a breath, his eyes filled with determination. “I can do whatever you want, sir!”
His father had had an accident while mining star mines. Now his injured leg needed to be modified with a mecha to be like an ordinary person’s. His younger sister was also seriously ill and needed money. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have taken this job with a non-disclosure agreement.
But even working here, it would take several years to earn enough star coins for the treatment. He had been very anxious these days, but seeing this box of gold coins now, he was no longer afraid of anything. He could even give his life.
Ning Yunyi: “I don’t want your life. Tomorrow night, I want you to help me sneak into that secret base you usually go to. I just don’t know if you dare. Once it’s done, this box of gold coins is yours. If we’re discovered, I won’t give you up, but if we succeed, all your current troubles will be resolved.”
The boy was named Harlo. Hearing this, his face turned pale, and he pursed his lips. “Can you give me half first? Don’t worry, I won’t run away. I can give you my life, I’m just afraid that if something happens, my father and sister will be implicated, so… can I give them half of the gold coins first?”
If he truly were exposed, he would pretend to have been sacrificed there.
If he died, no one would suspect him.
Ning Yunyi heard his meaning and directly handed over the box of gold coins. “I hope you won’t let me down. If you betray me, since I can produce these gold coins once, I can find them even at the ends of the earth to take them back.”
The boy shook his head firmly. “I won’t. I just don’t know what you want me to do, sir?”
Ning Yunyi: “Is it too late to ask now? It’s simple yet also difficult.”
Ning Yunyi explained his plan. He didn’t need the boy to do anything; he only needed the box they would hide in to be added to the boxes and containers sent every three days.
He had investigated and found that those boxes and containers from the club indeed contained meals and wine.
They were high-priced items the club boss bought from Interstellar merchants, and they were brought down every three days for the people there to drink.
The meals consisted of various types of roasted beast meat.
Ning Yunyi had seen it that night; the boxes for the wine were very large, enough for him and the shrunken big cat to lie inside.
The boy hadn’t expected it to be so simple and immediately agreed.
The next night, Ning Yunyi and the big cat changed their appearances in the room beforehand. The big cat was initially worried that shrinking would leak his mental power.
Ning Yunyi brought out a box similar to the wine boxes. Once the big cat shrank and lay inside with Ning Yunyi while wearing oxygen tanks, it truly fit, and they came out again.
Ning Yunyi took this special box and applied an Invisibility Talisman to it and the big cat before leaving.
At the back door of the club, the boy had long since left an opening. After they entered, they found the boxes in the basement according to the map provided by the boy. Opening the one with a mark, it was indeed empty.
After remarking it, Ning Yunyi first placed the special box that completely blocked mental power inside. Then he and the shrunken big cat lay inside.
After the two layers of boxes were locked, it was impossible to see any difference from the outside.
Harlo was stunned when he came at the agreed time and saw the mark. They’ve already lain inside? He hadn’t seen how they got in at all.
But these weren’t things he could ask. After trying to move it with force, he didn’t know how that gentleman had done it, but the weight was exactly the same as the others.
If he hadn’t seen the mark, he would have thought it wasn’t the one he had placed.
He mixed this box with the other boxes of wine, placing one of the others at the back.
Then he left.
After dark, Ning Yunyi and the big cat lay in the sealed box, both wearing oxygen tanks. After an unknown amount of time, the box moved slightly.
Ning Yunyi waited quietly, calculating the distance and time. Sure enough, it was soon lifted again and then set down.
Now the final step would be to see if the guards’ devices could detect the high-tech shielding box researched by Professor Ning. This was something he had specifically asked for before leaving Capital Planet.
Soon the box they were in was lifted again, meaning they had successfully evaded the device’s detection.
Now they just needed to wait for the boy to give the signal of safe arrival.
Harlo had said that every time they would have their eyes covered and be brought over, not knowing where it was, and would eventually appear in a very large banquet hall that was completely enclosed.
There were many people there. Those boxes and food containers would be opened and placed on platters. The wine and beast meat were part of the banquet, while they were there to dance for entertainment.
When the banquet ended, they would be covered again and sent out, along with the empty boxes and containers.
Ning Yunyi waited until he heard the signal from the boy and calculated the time to open the box from within.
The boy had changed the position of this box so it was just inside the others; if one wasn’t careful, no movement would be noticed.
Plus, Ning Yunyi and the big cat were completely invisible. They soon came out of the box, and Ning Yunyi directly put the empty box into his spatial storage.
Later, after someone took out the wine, he would put the empty box back. If things went smoothly, he could return the same way he came.
Ning Yunyi and the big cat moved quickly to the banquet hall exit. The moment someone entered from the outside, they used the gap to slip out.
The person and cat coordinated perfectly, making no sound whatsoever.
Once out of the hall, it truly felt like walking on wooden boards; it was as if they were underwater, with copper walls and iron barriers everywhere. They moved quickly down the corridor.
At the same time, Ning Yunyi spread out his mental power, looking for the most strictly guarded place in the entire underwater castle. Usually, that was where the most important people were imprisoned.
If Lady Zong were still alive, her mental power must be the highest here.
Then the defense would surely be the strictest.
Even if… finding the strongest one would certainly mean someone who had been here the longest and could be asked about Lady Zong’s whereabouts.
Ning Yunyi and the big cat soon reached a certain spot, but they couldn’t advance through a dozen checkpoints away from that circle.
That was a password-protected door. Entering required a live retinal scan to confirm identity. If they forced their way in, they would likely be discovered immediately.
The two didn’t dare to act rashly. There were still four hours before dawn; they still had a chance.
They just had to wait. If someone happened to be going in, they could follow along.
If dawn came and no one did, they would go back… and return in three days.
The big cat clearly thought the same. With so many guards here, it was impossible to truly attack by force.
With only one person and one cat, there was no chance of victory.
Over two hours passed, and Ning Yunyi’s expression grew increasingly grave.
Whether it was their good luck or bad luck, they finally waited for a guard of clearly high rank.
The clothes he wore were clearly similar to the armored masked people who had attacked the Shifter Alliance before, except he wasn’t wearing a mask now.
Two subordinates followed behind him.
The three walked one after another. The leader had a dark expression, clearly unhappy at being called away from the banquet, but given the orders from above, he didn’t dare not investigate and execute immediately.
The man first used a magnetic card and then a retinal scan. After confirmation, the door opened with a hum.
Ning Yunyi and the big cat followed closely as the three entered.
Then they passed through over ten doors one by one.
When they finally reached the innermost part, it turned into several completely sealed small doors.
Like single cells for serious criminals, there was only one ventilation hole, and nothing else could be seen inside.
