SUPERNATURAL IDOLS CHAPTER 16 PART 2

PART 2

Before Berlin could react, he felt a dizzying sense of weightlessness.

When the person behind him removed his hand, Berlin’s first reaction was the sudden drop in temperature, causing him to shiver.

Only a table lamp was on in the room, the light dim.

After Han Yuzhe’s hand was removed from his eyes, Berlin’s eyes were suddenly stung by the change in his vision; the sudden change was so strong that he blinked hard several times, almost shedding tears.

He saw the overwhelming expanse of white on the snow-capped peaks.

Berlin looked around and realized he was standing on the highest point of an unknown mountain peak. The fresh snow under his feet was thick and soft, sinking under his weight and covering his shoes.

His socks were soaked with snow. Berlin stomped his feet to try and shake off the snow.

The sky was beginning to brighten, and everything was in cool tones.

He hugged his arms, looking at the endless mountain range. The height from above was daunting. As far as his eyes could see were boundless fir forests; heavy snow fell silently and gracefully, a purely pristine natural landscape.

Berlin was completely stunned, staring blankly for a long time without moving.

Han Yuzhe approached him calmly: “Anything you want to say?”

He expected to see a surprised expression on Berlin’s face, wondering if Berlin would say he liked it, or “Wow, thank you.”

Berlin, dazed, turned to look at him, sniffed, and sneezed: “Achoo!”

He rubbed his nose; a muffled nasal sound was already audible: “…Help, I’m so cold.”

Han Yuzhe: “…”

The demon, who had never experienced heat or cold since his birth, fell into a strange silence.

A slight daze flashed in Han Yuzhe’s eyes, followed by a silent, amused sigh.

His long, elegant fingers landed on his lapel, and he decisively took off his coat and draped it over Berlin’s shoulders: “Put it on.”

Berlin grabbed the collar and pulled it tight, while putting his arms into the sleeves, gesturing haphazardly: “Can you…”

Han Yuzhe thought the other was worried about whether he would be cold, about to say that he was different from humans, when he heard Berlin finish his sentence –

Berlin: “…do some kind of warming magic?”

Han Yuzhe: “…”

His train of thought took a sharp turn, pausing for half a beat before hesitantly replying, “I can.”

Actually, there was no such thing as warming magic, because demons couldn’t feel temperature changes. But he could use another method to achieve the same result.

Berlin felt his skeletal muscles contracting from the cold. He quickly put on the coat, shivering. However, the coat itself didn’t have any residual warmth; on the contrary, because Han Yuzhe was as cold as a corpse, it felt as if it had just been taken out of a freezer.

Han Yuzhe reached out, turning his palm over; a beam of icy blue flame appeared in his pale, beautiful palm.

The flame continuously shrunk, jumping and hovering around Han Yuzhe’s fingertips, as if possessing life.

Han Yuzhe quietly raised his hand, his cold fingertips touching Berlin’s forehead.

The next second, Berlin felt the cold recede.

As if isolated by something invisible, he felt warm and comfortable, as if immersed in an invisible warm bath.

Berlin blinked blankly, tentatively reaching out to catch the falling snowflakes.

Amazingly, he could still vaguely feel that the snowflakes were cold, but he didn’t feel the cold.

Han Yuzhe patiently waited for Berlin’s reaction, watching him curiously spin in a circle, squat down, make a snowball, and then “ahem” and take a bite, carefully feeling it before happily throwing the snowball away and finally clapping his hands, standing up and staring off into space, as if thinking about something.

After a while, Berlin, full of curiosity, looked at Han Yuzhe: “Does this spell have any specific conditions, or is it very energy-consuming?”

Han Yuzhe shook his head.

Berlin continued to ask: “Is it difficult? Does it require you to sacrifice something special?”

Han Yuzhe paused imperceptibly, still shaking his head.

After Berlin rigorously confirmed again and again, he showed a puzzled expression: “So you’ve been able to do this warming spell all along, why last winter, when it was minus ten degrees and you were walking the red carpet, did you watch me look for places to put on warming patches and wear two layers of heated clothing, and still freeze like a dog, without helping me at all!!”

Han Yuzhe: “…”

If Han Yuzhe was a non-human who surfed the internet regularly, he would know how to use one sentence to accurately summarize his current feelings – Is Berlin allergic to romance?

He rarely fell silent for a moment, speaking truthfully: “I didn’t notice you were cold; you were smiling happily on the red carpet.”

Berlin looked at him and sighed, “Hey, the fans were watching the live stream; of course, I had to look happy!”

Han Yuzhe realized belatedly: “So you were pretending not to be cold?”

Berlin nodded: “Yes, it was minus ten degrees that day, I almost froze to death…”

He paused, thinking about the profound question of where souls go after death. Legend had it that demons fed on souls, so did souls exist after death?

He could ask, and Han Yuzhe had a 50% chance of telling him the answer.

But Berlin hesitated and didn’t ask in the end.

He changed the subject, rubbing his nose and starting to fantasize about the future: “Since I fooled you, doesn’t that mean I have acting potential, and I could develop in the direction of acting?”

Han Yuzhe slowly shook his head: “I’m not sure; I don’t have experience being human.”

Berlin: “…”

He gave up discussing life with a supernatural being and checked the time, finding that he still had enough time, and began to look around for a suitable area to exercise.

Looking around, Berlin shook his head regretfully: “The environment is beautiful, but I can’t practice here. The snow is too thick, it’s difficult to move.”

Without hearing a response, Berlin turned to see Han Yuzhe standing in the white expanse of snow, his dark eyes reflecting the morning light spreading across the sky.

Han Yuzhe casually lowered his head, lightly tilting his head, and waved his fingertips.

Everything happened too fast, like a fast-forward scene that then played in slow motion in his pupils.

Years of accumulated snow was instantly decomposed and disappeared; Han Yuzhe also leveled a rough area of the mountain, creating a safe and flat area for Berlin to exercise freely.

All this happened in an instant, too fast for Berlin to react.

A bare, flat area, as if repeatedly flattened by a road roller, appeared abruptly on the snowy mountain, jarringly out of place with the surrounding landscape.

“It’s alright,” Han Yuzhe lazily propped his head up, tilting his head, “You can practice now.”

Berlin rubbed his eyes, dazed for a moment: “…Thank you, Big Brother!”

He happily took out his phone and noticed that the signal in the upper right corner was full.

Looking around, he found no trace of human habitation or man-made mountain roads. Berlin thought he was in an ungoverned, untouched no-man’s-land.

He paused in surprise, not investigating further, but choosing to play the background music and put the phone back in his pocket.

He had practiced so many times that he had developed muscle memory and could remember the moves just by listening to the background music.

The reason he still played the video in the hotel was because it felt like someone was exercising with him.

The open space was vast; the music was unobstructed, carrying far away in the wind, even echoing.

The background music was originally ethereal and peaceful, cleansing the soul, calming the mind.

It was like many popular bathroom singers on short-video apps; playing music in a place with echoes often has a powerful effect.

Berlin was initially immersed in the Eight Brocades, admiring how ethereal and beautiful the background music sounded in the mountains, until he felt the echo getting louder and louder, increasingly overshadowing the original sound from his pocket –

Berlin: “?”

Berlin’s movements slowed: “???”

Berlin realized it wasn’t an illusion, and he seemed to hear the sound of crunching snow – the sound of light footsteps on thick snow getting closer.

He stopped moving and turned around.

Han Yuzhe frowned, looking uneasily towards the source of the sound.

He had noticed someone’s presence earlier, but the distance was too far, and he hadn’t bothered to deal with it.

Unexpectedly, they were coming towards them.

The mountain path was steep and slippery. Even with full mountaineering equipment, ordinary people would find it difficult to walk easily, constantly falling.

However, the person’s steps were steady, as if walking on flat ground.
