The Binding of Pheromones Chapter 19

Chapter 19: Luring the Enemy

Gu Yunsheng felt a wave of suffocation, his chest feeling like it was about to explode. He struggled desperately and finally broke through the surface of the sea, greedily gulping down fresh air.

Before him lay the boundless sea. Apart from a few seabirds circling low, there were only rolling waves.

He tried to find a passing ship, but looking around, there was nothing but deep blue seawater. Not even the shadow of a ship could be seen.

Without time to think much, he waved his arms vigorously, trying to swim toward the shore.

The cold seawater felt like invisible giant hands, repeatedly slapping him under the water.

He choked on a few mouthfuls of seawater. The salty, fishy water poured into his nose, making his throat burn with pain, and his vision went black in waves.

“Damn it, this body is too weak!” He cursed inwardly. The consequences of neglecting exercise in his daily life were now undoubtedly revealed.

After developing other personalities, Ling Xi seemed like a completely different person, which left Gu Yunsheng unable to react for a moment. Before he could figure it out, Ling Xi had actually let him leave just like that, which really confused him.

Even stranger was that along the way, fierce marine creatures like sharks turned a blind eye to him, as if deliberately avoiding him.

What game is Ling Xi playing? Gu Yunsheng was full of doubts but couldn’t find an answer.

Drifting on the sea, he struggled to lift his head and look around. The sea was empty—no ships, no islands, only boundless deep blue.

“Am I going to be buried here?” Despair gradually spread. He let his arms hang down powerlessly, allowing himself to rise and fall with the waves.

Just then, he felt a burning sensation on his right index finger. Looking down, the simple ring given by the System was emitting a faint light, which seemed to point in a certain direction.

Is it an illusion?

A glimmer of hope ignited in his heart. Gritting his teeth, he swam with all his might in the direction guided by the light.

After an unknown amount of time, he vaguely saw a wooden house on the coast not far away.

“Finally saved… there’s a household there…” He used his last bit of strength to swim toward the shore and finally lost consciousness.

When Gu Yunsheng woke up again, a wooden ceiling came into view. A faint scent of sea salt and wood lingered at the tip of his nose.

He struggled to open his heavy eyelids and found himself lying on a soft, comfortable bed, covered with a thin blanket.

The room wasn’t big, but the decor was warm and elegant. Sunlight spilled in through beige curtains, casting warm patches of light on the floor.

“You’re awake?”

A magnetic voice rang out. Gu Yunsheng turned his head with difficulty and saw a tall man standing by the window. Against the light, his face couldn’t be seen clearly, but his powerful aura was impossible to ignore.

“You are…?” Gu Yunsheng struggled to sit up but felt dizzy.

“Don’t move around; your body is still very weak.” The man turned, walked to the bed, and placed a soft cushion behind him.

His movements were gentle, his tone mild but unquestionable. “My name is Xue Chenxi. Yesterday, while conducting scientific research by the shore, I found you washed up on the beach by the waves, so I brought you back.”

“I… where am I? What happened to me?” Gu Yunsheng’s voice was hoarse and weak, carrying a trace of panic and confusion.

“This is my cabin by the sea,” Xue Chenxi explained patiently. “You’ve been in a coma for a day and a night. It must have been caused by prolonged dehydration and physical exhaustion. Luckily, I found you in time.”

“Thank you… thank you for saving me…” Gu Yunsheng said gratefully, but his heart was full of doubts.

“No need to thank me; it was just a small effort.” Xue Chenxi smiled. That smile was like warm spring sunshine, dispelling the unease in Gu Yunsheng’s heart. “How do you feel? Is there anywhere uncomfortable?”

“I…” Gu Yunsheng wanted to speak, but suddenly felt a burning sensation on his right index finger. He subconsciously raised his hand; the spatial ring was flashing with light.

Xue Chenxi’s gaze fell on the ring. A flash of imperceptible sharpness passed through his originally gentle eyes. Alarm bells rang in Gu Yunsheng’s heart, and he subconsciously wanted to pull his hand back.

He didn’t know why, but Xue Chenxi’s look made him feel uneasy, as if this ring was something extraordinary.

“This ring…” Xue Chenxi was just about to ask, but saw Gu Yunsheng looking a bit unnatural.

“Why is it emitting light?” he asked, a trace of doubt in his tone.

Gu Yunsheng forced a smile, hid his hand under the quilt, and said apologetically, “It’s just a toy. I’m a traveler swimming in the sea. I encountered a storm at sea, but luckily survived and was washed ashore by the waves.”

Hearing Gu Yunsheng’s words, Xue Chenxi obviously didn’t believe it. His intuition told him that Gu Yunsheng wasn’t telling the truth, which made him even more curious about Gu Yunsheng’s identity.

A traveler? Alone? He would have been devoured by sharks long ago; would he have lasted until now?

Xue Chenxi sneered inwardly. He knew better than anyone how dangerous this sea area was.

“Hehe,” Xue Chenxi leaned back against the chair, looking at Gu Yunsheng with a faint smile, his tone carrying a bit of teasing.

“Running alone to this unfamiliar sea area, you aren’t trying to be an adventurer, are you?” He paused deliberately, observing Gu Yunsheng’s expression. Seeing the other party remain silent, he continued, “You look young. Don’t tell me you ran away secretly from your family?” Xue Chenxi narrowed his eyes slightly, his tone carrying a hint of scrutiny as he looked Gu Yunsheng up and down, as if trying to see through him.

Xue Chenxi’s tone became serious. “If that’s the case, Uncle has to have a good talk with you. How can you make your family worry?” He deliberately put on a stern face, pretending to have the majesty of an elder, trying to see any flaws in Gu Yunsheng’s face.

“I didn’t run away from home. I really came out for adventure, to shoot another set of videos. I work in self-media.”

Faced with Xue Chenxi’s sudden questioning, Gu Yunsheng’s heart skipped a beat, but he calmed down quickly. He had a sudden idea and brought out the prepared excuse, his tone firm and unhesitating.

“Oh? You make videos. No wonder…” Xue Chenxi dragged out the last syllable, a trace of suspicion flashing in his eyes. He didn’t completely believe Gu Yunsheng’s story. After all, running alone to this uninhabited sea area to shoot videos seemed suspicious no matter how you thought about it.

“Tell me, where do you live? Do you want Uncle to take you back?” Xue Chenxi decided to probe again. His tone softened a little, carrying a trace of an elder’s concern, as if he really cared about a child who had run away from home.

“My home isn’t here. I’ll go back myself. No need for Mr. Xue to worry.” Gu Yunsheng said with feigned lightness. He didn’t want to stay here any longer; who knew what intentions this Xue Chenxi harbored? He lifted the thin blanket covering him and propped himself on the edge of the bed, wanting to sit up.

“I can do it myself.” Seeing Xue Chenxi seeming to come over to help, Gu Yunsheng said hurriedly. He didn’t want to owe the other party too many favors, especially since this person made him feel very uncomfortable.

“No trouble, I’ll do it myself.” As Gu Yunsheng spoke, he propped himself on the edge of the bed and tried to stand up.

He pressed his palms against the mattress and exerted a little force with his legs, but felt a sudden dizziness.

His legs went soft, and his body tilted forward uncontrollably.

Gu Yunsheng was startled. He instinctively reached out to grab something to steady himself, but grabbed nothing. He watched as he was about to fall, waiting for intimate contact with the floor.

However, the expected pain didn’t come. A warm and solid embrace caught him.

This unfamiliar aura made Gu Yunsheng a bit overwhelmed. He instinctively wanted to push the other party away, but found his body soft and limp, unable to exert any strength.

Only then did he realize he was being held in Xue Chenxi’s arms.

Xue Chenxi’s chest was warm and solid. Through the thin clothes, Gu Yunsheng could even feel his powerful heartbeat.

Mixed with a trace of imperceptible cedar pheromones, it instantly wrapped around him.

What Gu Yunsheng didn’t know was that this Xue Chenxi was the boss behind the hospital, and also a top-tier Alpha, very sensitive to the pheromones on him.

“You have to be careful, little friend~” Xue Chenxi chuckled lightly, his tone carrying a trace of teasing. He extended a finger and gently stroked Gu Yunsheng’s neck, his fingertip inadvertently touching the gland that was slightly swollen due to…

Startled by this sudden touch, Gu Yunsheng’s body instinctively shrank back, wanting to avoid Xue Chenxi’s touch.

Ever since being marked by Ling Xi, he was particularly sensitive to Alpha pheromones. At this moment, the cool cedar pheromones on Xue Chenxi were wrapping around him unreservedly, making him feel flustered.

Worse, he didn’t have any suppressors on him now, which made him even more uneasy.

The Alpha pheromones were like invisible tentacles, entangling his senses, making him want to flee.

“Mr. Xue, I’m fine now. Can you let me go?” Gu Yunsheng’s voice trembled slightly, carrying a trace of panic.

He struggled to break free from Xue Chenxi’s embrace, but to no avail.

Instead of letting go, Xue Chenxi held him even tighter. “Your body hasn’t recovered yet. Careful not to fall again.”

Gu Yunsheng’s body stiffly leaned against Xue Chenxi’s chest. He didn’t dare look up into the other’s eyes, only turning his head aside, trying to put distance between them.

However, the more he avoided it, the more unscrupulously the cedar pheromones on Xue Chenxi invaded, like an airtight net wrapping him tightly, leaving him nowhere to run.

“Little friend, are you afraid of me?” Xue Chenxi’s voice was very soft but carried a hint of danger.

Gu Yunsheng’s body trembled slightly. He didn’t know how to answer this question.

He didn’t want to appear too afraid, as that would only make the other push further.

But Xue Chenxi’s existence was like an unknown danger to him.

No, I have to find a way to leave here as soon as possible.
