Part 3
Amidst the System’s shock, Lu Xunye reacted.
He shrank back, dodging the bodyguardâs hand with the key. At the same time, he looked up at the man with stubbornness, just the right amount of grievance, and stoicism in his eyes.
“Just keep me tied up like this! Anyway, Grandpa, you kicked me out of the Lu family long ago. If you came to vent anger on behalf of Grandma, then just go ahead and do it!”
His voice choked up as he looked timidly at Lu Feng. “I just feel it’s unfair for you, Grandpa. You are decisive in killing and attacking, having galloped through the business world for decades, only to end up raising a child for someone else.”
The bodyguard bending down to unlock the cuffs suddenly felt he had heard some incredible wealthy family secret, and his palm holding the key broke out in a layer of sweat.
He didn’t dare to speak. He placed the key by the feet of Lu Xunye, who was throwing a tantrum, and then calmly returned to his spot to stand at attention.
Fortunately, Lu Feng waved his hand and ordered them: “Except for Assistant Zhao, all of you get out first.”
As soon as the words fell, the row of people in the room scampered away in a flash, leaving the three of them staring at each other.
Lu Xunyeâs brow twitched. He thought to himself: My sixth sense is quite accurate. This Lu Family Head really does have patience with me.
“Did you think I didn’t know?” Lu Fengâs opening words broke the silence, but no one pondered his meaning deeply.
He made a move to stand up. Assistant Zhao beside him immediately bowed to support him, but his hand was ruthlessly slapped away. “I’m not old yet! Why do I need support?”
While Lu Xunye was dazed, Lu Feng squatted down, picked up the key, his voice containing a smile. “You are quite clever… You look a bit like your mother.”
Lu Xunye rubbed his released wrists and said aggrievedly, “No matter how clever I am, I can’t win your favor. Didn’t you kidnap me just for Grandma?”
“Who told you I did it for her?” Lu Fengâs smile didn’t diminish.
Lu Xunye was genuinely confused now. “Then what?”
Who would have thought that Lu Feng would be willing to reply to his fake flattery, but stay silent at his genuine feelings?
After a moment, Lu Xunye felt the top of his head being rubbed vigorously; he felt his hair was probably even messier now.
Lu Feng stood up and turned his back to him. “How do you think you escaped last night?”
Lu Xunye immediately recalled the phone call between the two men last night, saying someone jumped out the window and fled to the east of the city. So it wasn’t Su Zhuo who helped?
The iron cuffs were placed on the marble table with a clatter. Lu Feng sat down again, glancing at Lu Xunye, who was still sitting cross-legged on the floor without moving. “If you find it comfortable, I can have someone tie you back up.”
Assistant Zhao understood and nodded.
Seeing Assistant Zhao pick up the iron cuffs and walk toward him, Lu Xunye immediately dashed to a stool and sat down properly and steadily. “No need, no need!”
His series of flowing movements made Lu Feng laugh at some unknown thought.
Lu Xunye, however, felt like ten thousand ants were crawling in his heart. It was incredibly weird.
“Aren’t you curious why your father doesn’t have a shred of affection for you?” Lu Feng raised his eyes and asked him.
Lu Xunye didn’t answer directly but asked instead, “Then do you have a shred of affection for your children and grandchildren?”
Hearing this, Lu Feng re-evaluated him. “Before I even asked you, you pretended quite well. Now you’re turning around and questioning me.”
“How could I?” Lu Xunye respectfully took the tea he offered, silently placing it to the side. “Since Grandpa isn’t here to settle accounts with me, are you relaying something on behalf of my father?”
“I heard you’ve been getting quite close to the youngest son of the Shen family recently.” Lu Feng took a sip of tea.
That’s not ‘heard’, that’s clearly certainty!
He knew it. Even if it was to vent anger for his wife, there was no need to come personally.
Lu Xunye clicked his tongue and said bluntly, “What do you want me to do for you?”
A dark, deep look flashed through Lu Fengâs eyes, like a giant python locking onto its prey, waiting for the chance to swallow it whole. “I want you to gain his trust.”
This coincides with his strategy mission.
Lu Xunye covered his forehead and glanced at the System with suspicion in his eyes: ăIs he really not external aid you hired for me? The insertion is a bit forced.ă
The System, which had stayed online with legs crossed just to watch the drama, met his gaze and denied it decisively: ăI don’t know! How is that possible!ă
Lu Xunye turned back and asked in confusion, “The Shen family is bankrupt, friends and family have abandoned him, and he has nothing left. What is there worth plotting for?”
“I want you to secretly help him and the forces behind him destroy the Si family and find Si Zheng.” Lu Fengâs gaze suddenly turned ruthless. When he said this name, he gripped the teacup violently, not even noticing the scalding water spilling onto the back of his hand.
Si Zheng, the former head of the Si family, Si Jinyanâs father.
Lu Xunye frowned. “Isn’t he already dead? Besides, Grandpa, you overestimate me. I’m just an ordinary person waiting to die, with no power or influence. How can I fight against the Si family?”
If it were a grudge between the Protagonist Gong and Protagonist Shou, he could understand.
After all, he had learned a sentence or two from the System before. But what grudge did the Lu family have with Si Zheng?
Lu Feng nodded thoughtfully. “So, do you think the identity of ‘heir to the Lu Group’ carries enough weight?”
Lu Xunye was dumbfounded. The System was dumbfounded too.
Lu Xunye looked at the System again: ăReally not you?ă
Now the System began to suspect if it was assigned by headquarters.
“If my dad and those two uncles know, they’ll probably kill me. Don’t joke around,” Lu Xunye waved his hand to refuse.
“What are you afraid of? They aren’t my biological children anyway.”
Lu Feng said it with a completely calm face, but it shocked Lu Xunye so much that his mouth hung open. He blinked in vain. “Huh?”
Lu Feng ignored Assistant Zhaoâs disapproving look and sent him away before fixing his gaze on Lu Xunye. “Have you never suspected? I’m 53; where would I get a 36-year-old dad for you?”
Lu Xunye said casually, “Everyone says you had your first awakening of love in your teens and gave birth to…”
He subconsciously looked at the top of Lu Fengâs head. There seemed to be a stack of green hats* glowing faintly green there. (*T/N: Wearing a green hat means being cuckolded).
Knowing the children aren’t his biological ones, yet willing to be the fall guy… truly a Ninja (Endurer).
Hmm… 36?
Wait!
He paused. Then Lu Xunye was even more shocked. The original owner isn’t a child of the Lu family either!
Lu Feng said thoughtfully from across him, “It’s just as you think.”
No, but didn’t anyone suspect?
So the talk about extravagance and lust was just an excuse. This was the real reason the original owner was kicked out of the house!
But what was with Zhou Jie and the Second Uncle’s hostility toward the original owner? If the original owner had no blood relation to the Lu family, he wouldn’t threaten them, so there was no need to target him.
How old was the original owner’s mother when she gave birth to him, and when did she die? The plot didn’t say!
Should he say the plot has self-consistency, or is the original owner actually only a teenager?! Impossible, impossible.
Then there was only one explanation. Lu Xunyeâs brain stormed, on the verge of crashing.
“So…” Lu Xunye felt his brain wasn’t enough. He pointed a finger back at himself. “I am your biological son?”
Otherwise, why give the family business to him? Pure insanity!
But that made even less sense. Why raise a son as a grandson? And then kick him out?
Seeing the blatant suspicion hanging on Lu Xunyeâs face, Lu Feng concealed the complex emotions mixed within him. “You will know in the future. You only need to know that I won’t harm you.”
Lu Xunye slowed his breathing, trying to calm himself to think clearly. “So the sudden decline of the Si family a few years ago wasn’t just due to internal corruption and collusion; the Lu family also had a hand in it?”
