Part 2
“Okay, Uncle.” The two nodded obediently.
Lu Xunye raised an eyebrow: So obedient?
On one side was the hysterical team: Honk honk honk honk honk.
On the other side was the cheerleading team: “Go! Uncle, go!”
Lu Xunye looked at the goose, not knowing where to start. He took a deep breath, then grabbed the big goose’s two wings with both hands.
He had just pulled its head out of the fence when the big goose went crazy, flapping its wings trying to break free from his hands.
Honk honk honk honk honk hooooonk—
Fck fck fck fck fck—*
The big goose broke free from his hands, leaving him with a head full of feathers. As soon as it landed, the big goose immediately turned around, head bowed low to the ground, and charged towards him.
The big goose flapped its wings and leaped into the air, opening its hard beak to reveal the serrated teeth inside, stretching its neck to peck at him.
“Uncle, be careful! Goose bites hurt a lot!”
Lu Xunye dodged sideways. The big goose lunged straight at Shen Yunqian, who was squatting under the tree behind him.
Lu Xunye’s pupils shrank.
In a flash of lightning, he grabbed the big goose’s neck.
“…”
Black bean-sized eyes glared sideways at Lu Xunye. Dissatisfied, it flapped its wings and flat feet, opening its throat to release a coarse sound like phlegm stuck: “Honk.”
Lu Xunye: “…”
“Uncle is so amazing!” The older child ran to the fence door. “I’ll open the door for you!”
“Don’t!” Lu Xunye couldn’t stop him in time. He watched helplessly as seven or eight geese ran out. He hurriedly went over, swinging the goose in his hand by the neck and throwing it in, closing the door with one hand.
Then he helped up the boy who had been knocked over by the big goose with one hand.
Looking at the geese flying and scurrying all over the yard, the two frowned, anxious to the point of tears.
“What do we do? Mom and Dad will definitely scold us to death if they find out.”
“To be honest, did you let that goose out just now too?” Lu Xunye looked serious.
“It was me, it has nothing to do with my little brother.” The older boy took the initiative to admit.
“I couldn’t sleep last night and wanted to help Mom and Dad pick up goose eggs, but it slipped away. We saw it on the road just now, and it chased us and bit us, and then… we came back.”
“What should we do? We can’t let them run to the front yard. If we get caught, we’re finished.”
Lu Xunye caught a glimpse of two bamboo brooms as tall as a person leaning against the corner. He went over and took both, handing one to the two of them. “Then make up for your mistakes.”
He opened the fence door again. “Can you guard it?”
“Mhm!” The two nodded hurriedly.
For the remaining few minutes, as soon as the geese in the pen walked towards the door, they were scared back by the broom. Lu Xunye initially tried to drive them with the broom, but it was useless.
Finally, rolling up his sleeves, he gave up on dignity. One by one, he grabbed their necks and threw the geese back into the goose pen.
The geese’s two little owners counted them one by one. Confirming none were missing, everyone breathed a sigh of relief in unison.
The two boys looked at the goose feathers all over each other’s bodies and hair and laughed loudly, not forgetting to praise Lu Xunye. “Uncle, you’re awesome!”
Lu Xunye accepted their praise calmly. Suddenly, he realized: Where is Shen Yunqian? Why hasn’t he spoken?
He looked around and found the person still squatting under the tree. He walked over and squatted in front of the young man. Seeing him covering his mouth and nose continuously, he asked worriedly, “What’s wrong?”
“…Nothing.” Shen Yunqian still lowered his head, his voice very light. “Do you have tissue?”
Lu Xunye lowered his head and looked closely. There was a pool of blood on the ground. His eyes widened, shocked. “You’re bleeding!”
He pulled Shen Yunqian’s hand away and saw blood flowing from his nose continuously, gathering at the tip of his nose and falling like broken beads one by one.
Lu Xunye was even more flustered than when catching the geese, not knowing what to do. His first reaction blurted out: “Look up, look up.”
As soon as it came out, he denied it himself. “No, no, look down.”
“You two, go ask your mother if there is any medical cotton at home?” Lu Xunye turned back to the two children.
“Ah?” Seeing the situation, the two quickly put away their playfulness. “We’ll go right now.”
“Don’t move.” Lu Xunye first pinched Shen Yunqian’s nose wings. “Breathe through your mouth.”
Backyard Entrance.
Sister An, who intended to slaughter another chicken, carried a pot of hot water and a knife. Seeing her little troublemakers looking panicked, anger rose out of nowhere.
“What happened to you two? Why are you covered in feathers?!”
“No, no, Big Brother has a nosebleed!”
“What!”
The guests had all eaten and gone out for a walk.
Two more chairs and sets of tableware were added to the largest family dining table.
Five people sat around one table. The two little ones sat next to Lu Xunye and Shen Yunqian.
Sister An ladled chicken soup, put a chicken leg into a bowl, and handed it to Shen Yunqian. “Is Little Shen okay now?”
“It’s stopped.” Shen Yunqian stood up and took it with both hands. “Thank you, Sister An.”
“Good that you’re okay. You really scared me to death. You don’t know how scary it looked when you fainted yesterday.” She said, ladling a bowl of chicken soup for Lu Xunye as well.
The two children waited eagerly without making a fuss.
“When your Big Brother and I found you by the sea last night, we were terrified. Usually, not many people go there.”
Lu Xunye secretly put the chicken leg into the bowl of the kid next to him. Coincidentally, Shen Yunqian also gave his chicken leg to the other one.
Listening to Sister An talking to Shen Yunqian, he felt schadenfreude, thinking it was none of his business.
Unexpectedly, the fire spread to him in the next second.
“You fainted from hypothermia yesterday, but Little Lu held you and used his own body heat to warm you up! He treats you very well. If a young couple has conflicts, you still need to communicate slowly.”
“Pfft, cough cough cough cough.” Lu Xunye choked on rice, turned sideways, buried his head under the table, and coughed frantically.
Shen Yunqian glanced at the reacting Lu Xunye. “Okay, we will communicate.”
“That’s right!” Sister An nodded in gratification, turning to get tissues for Lu Xunye. “Oh my, eat slowly. Don’t just eat plain rice, have some dishes.”
Brother Zhang entered the door. Seeing no one had started eating yet, he said duplicitously, “Didn’t I say not to wait for me?”
Sister An: “We were just talking about you. What did you do?”
The older child shuddered and buried his head almost into the floor, lowering his presence.
Unfortunately, he was still exposed by his dad.
“Didn’t the eldest lose Chen Xiao-Er’s toy? We couldn’t find it on the beach last night in the dark. Probably got swept away by the tide. I just went to buy a new one and delivered it.”
Brother Zhang and Sister An exchanged a look. The meaning was obvious: Reconciled?
Sister An blinked.
“By the way, when I came back, I saw they were hanging the projection screen at the village entrance. Probably showing a movie this afternoon. Little Lu, if you’re free, take Little Shen out for a walk.”
Brother Zhang hung his coat on the rack and came over to sit down. “You young people probably haven’t seen this kind of screening method on our island. Although the internet is developed now, this old tradition is quite interesting.”
“Remember to bring two stools.”
Lu Xunye: “…Mhm.”
Sister An: “Let’s not talk about this. Just take this time to have fun and look around our island. I guarantee you’ll miss this place when you go back.”
“Also, thanks to Little Shen for helping tutor these two little ancestors. You don’t know, tutoring them every day almost kills me. Little Shen has a good temper.”
Sister An’s death glare fell on the two boys. “But you two, what trouble did you cause again? Covered in goose feathers. Did you lose the goose again?”
The two looked hopefully and secretly at Lu Xunye.
Lu Xunye accepted the light of hope and spoke up. “Cough, no. The two of them were very good. They even brought back the lost goose. We got feathers all over us because we were catching the goose.”
Sister An looked at the two boys skeptically. “Really?”
“Mhm mhm!”
“Zhang Number One, Zhang Number Two, did your family get stars for filming again?”
A strange kid rode a bicycle and stopped in front of the group, looking arrogant and cocky. At a glance, he didn’t get along with Sister An’s children.
“Pui! This is my Big Brother and my Uncle! You’re not allowed to cause trouble today.”
Lu Xunye looked down in shock at the kid speaking wild words: Do you want to listen to what you are saying?!
Before the kid opposite could say anything, Lu Xunye spoke first. He pointed at Shen Yunqian and asked the boy beside him, “Why do you call me Uncle, but call him Brother?”
The boy looked back at him innocently. “Didn’t you ask to be called that, Uncle?”
Lu Xunye: “…”
