Part 4
Lu Xunye gave the address and room number, not understanding what the other meant by telling him to leave first if he had things to do.
Shouldn’t he be worried about his nephew and ask him to stay and watch over him?
Since it came to this, Lu Xunye naturally wouldn’t be a nuisance. He told the waiter in the corridor that someone was drunk inside and someone would pick him up later, then put on his coat and went downstairs.
Restroom Corridor
“I told you I was just drinking with brothers, yet you have to control this too. Do you understand what a commercial marriage is? I don’t care how you play outside either.”
A man threw off the woman pulling at his arm, eyes full of impatience.
“We aren’t even married yet and you’re out debauching? Are you that sure I will marry you?” The woman’s voice was hoarse from crying.
“Otherwise? Do you have a better choice?” The man lowered his voice. “You say I cheated? Who would believe it if you say it? Besides, everyone sees it as normal; there’s really no need to bring it to the surface. Even if you say it, others will only blame you for being petty.”
“Isn’t playing separately good? I can give you full freedom.”
Slapā
A crisp slap echoed in the empty corridor. Lu Xunye paused his steps and turned back into the restroom.
Really didn’t come in vain this time. One act after another like a theater troupe.
“Don’t forget how your dad got you out. You attempted to murder your own brother. If the marriage between our two families is also ruined in your hands, are you sure you have the confidence to turn the tables against the wind and fight for inheritance? Don’t forget you are already out of the game.”
The man’s face was like a demon, without a trace of his former gentle courtesy. He touched the stinging spot on his face and laughed maniacally. “You say, wouldn’t it have been better if you hadn’t found out? We could have still been an enviable loving couple.”
He walked closer to the woman, reached into her pocket, pulled out a voice recorder pen with a blinking red light, threw it on the ground, and crushed it. “But you have no evidence; who will believe you?”
“To put it bluntly, your grandfather only values the Lu family’s power. He doesn’t care what kind of person I am. At least I’m younger than those old men.”
“Besides, who doesn’t know I am gentle and polite, while you, Miss Wen, are spoiled and willful.”
“Next month is the wedding date.” The man patted the woman’s face insultingly. “Your dad’s siblings have been watching his every move. He needs the Lu family’s help. Can you… afford to make a scene?”
“Lu Yan!” The woman gritted her teeth. “You only avoided confinement because your younger brother got hurt. When he recovers his memory, you’ll have to return the Vice President position sooner or later. Can you sit securely?”
“Then I’ll make sure he completely loses this chance.” The man pushed the woman away, kicked the scattered parts of the recorder pen, and walked away without even giving her a look.
The woman wiped a tear and sneered, staring at the smashed phone and recorder casing on the ground with an unclear expression. “Come out.”
Lu Xunye raised an eyebrow, still not going out.
The woman hooked her lips, saying unhurriedly, “That handsome guy eavesdropping at the men’s room door, wearing a black and white color-block down jacket and jeans, come out.”
The System watched the excitement without fearing it getting big: [Calling you.]
Lu Xunye was indignant: [Shut up.]
He took a deep breath and walked out. Before he could play dumb, the other party pointed it out directly. “It seems the rumors are fake. You really didn’t lose your memory.”
Lu Xunye’s gaze fell on her half-smiling face. The woman’s grief and sadness just now were swept away as if it were his solitary auditory hallucinationāif one ignored the tears hanging on her face.
Miss Wen didn’t feel embarrassed about being seen in that scene. Instead, she stepped forward and reached out. “Lend me some tissue.”
…
While she wiped her tears, Lu Xunye stared straight at her. Didn’t she have a bad relationship with Lu Yan last time he saw them?
As if seeing through his thoughts: “He was right about one thing. Marriage alliances are normal.”
Lu Xunye: “Then you…” Why cry?
Thinking of his own mother, he opened his mouth, and a word of comfort came out without thinking: “Stopping loss in time might lead to meeting someone better?”
“You think I’m crying for him?” Miss Wen snorted. “What are you thinking? Is he worthy?”
Changing the subject, looking at Lu Xunye’s serious appearance, she couldn’t help but want to tease him. She deliberately took a step forward. “Crying for you sounds more like it.”
Lu Xunye was startled and took a step back.
“Hahahahaha.” Miss Wen burst out laughing. Having succeeded in her scheme, she let him go, turning to throw the tissue ball into the trash can.
“This Young Miss isn’t confined to petty love. If that stinky old man hadn’t had me tied back then, you might be seeing me at the Best Actress award ceremony now.”
Lu Xunye was skeptical about her words. He looked around; no surveillance cameras. “Then you want to break the engagement? What if the recorder is broken?”
They were all wealthy families. Most in the circle knew about this marriage alliance. There was no lack of people waiting to see a joke.
Canceling a wedding a month before, when they were a loving couple in the past, must have a reason. Without solid evidence, the fault party would naturally be the one with less power.
Miss Wen smiled without speaking. Bypassing him, she walked to a potted plant, reached out, and picked a well-camouflaged micro-camera from the green leaves, playing with it in her hand.
Lu Xunye frowned. “I am also a member of the Lu family.”
The unspoken words were: Not avoiding me? Not afraid I’ll inform on you or destroy it?
“Because we have a common enemy.” Miss Wen paused. “I know you don’t like the Lu family.”
“Heh.” Lu Xunye retorted, “The Lu family has power and influence; who doesn’t want to cling to them?”
“That’s others.” Miss Wen rubbed her chin thoughtfully. “Although you are kind, you give me the feeling that you are not from this world. You don’t care about anything; everyone and everything has nothing to do with you.”
“What’s that word?” She pondered for a long time, then realized. “Transmigration into a book.”
Lu Xunye’s expression didn’t change. “Stop joking. I believe you have an acting dream now.”
Miss Wen continued to smile. “So, is Young Master Lu willing to cooperate with me?”
The System’s round body flew in the air. When Lu Xunye fell forward again, it used both legs to pull his back collar and drag him back with force.
[You agreed, so you agreed. Why drink! You’re so heavy, I can’t pull you anymore.]
Lu Xunye was already a bit drunk when he came out of the private room. Miss Wen offered him a drink just now.
The System thought he would refuse. Unexpectedly, he agreed. After only two drinks, he was drunk like a bear, yet he had the face to mock Qin Zhuoyu.
Xiao Ai was speechless.
Xiao Ai was disdainful.
Xiao Ai was going crazy.
So, such a bizarre scene occurred downstairs at the apartment building late at night.
The young man with hazy eyes and a crimson face let his hands hang down, his body leaning straight forward, looking like he was hooked by the back collar with a fishing hook, exposing a large patch of skin on his back.
Because of the System’s brute force, Lu Xunye’s front collar strangled his throat tightly, leaving no gap. The redness on his face was indistinguishable between lack of oxygen and drunkenness.
He couldn’t inhale: Hurk.
Hearing this dead noise, the System shook all over. The clothes in its hand were gone. It blinked, and Lu Xunye had already fallen onto the steps. The person who was sleeping soundly opened his eyes in panic from the sharp pain.
“E… Earthquake?”
The System flew over and yanked his sleeve: [Get up and go home to sleep!]
Being yelled at, Lu Xunye pouted. “Oh.”
A long while later.
The corridor sensor light flickered on and off. After it went out again, Lu Xunye threw the keys angrily, complaining to the System, “Can’t stick it in.”
The sensor light lit up, illuminating his flushed handsome face.
The System went mad. You’re taking your own house key to open the Protagonist Shou’s door. It would be a ghost if it opened.
It suppressed its temper, smiling: [Do we have a fingerprint?]
“Hm?” Lu Xunye digested its words for a while, raised his index finger to his eyes. Several fingers changed back and forth before his eyes, overlapping. He blinked hard and pressed toward the fingerprint lock with great certainty.
The System watched him press on empty air, brushing past the smart lock. It spun anxiously above Lu Xunye’s head.
Ahhhhhhhh!
After pressing, Lu Xunye smiled politely at the lock, got up to grab the handle, but still couldn’t turn it.
Confused, he patted the lock. “Be good, let me in.”
Waiting for a long time with no movement from the lock, he seemed to get into a contest with it. Grasping it with both hands, he pulled toward himself, leg bracing against the door for leverage, chanting, “Open, open, I want to go in.”
He pulled the door in the wrong direction; the result was predictable.
Seeing this, the System was scared out of its wits: [Let go, let go! The door will break, let go!]
Lu Xunye was annoyed by its noise. Just as he relaxed his strength, the door suddenly opened inward.
A strong force came from the door. Before he could remove his hand, the dark doorway swallowed him like a deep abyss.
His whole body crashed into a soft “pillow.” The tip of his nose was surrounded by the faint sweetness of shower gel. The “pillow” hugged him, and the two stumbled a step before stabilizing.
Shen Yunqian looked down at the dead drunk person in his arms, clenching his hands, his throat tight. “Didn’t you want to run? What did you come back for?”
The pillow spoke human language. Lu Xunye mumbled, “So dark.”
Shen Yunqian turned on the light with one hand. The bright white light stung Lu Xunye’s eyes; unaccustomed, he shed a physiological tear.
His chaotic brain remembered that whenever this happened, someone would cover his eyes with a warm hand and speak to him gently.
But now, he opened his eyes helplessly to search for the figure in his memory. Before his vision was clear, he was pushed away.
He retreated two steps, hitting the shoe cabinet behind him. The pain on his back was far less than the suffocating blockage in his chest. He opened his mouth to breathe but still found it difficult; a dense dull pain persisted.
Shen Yunqian’s right arm hanging by his side trembled uncontrollably. The white gauze on his wrist hidden under the sleeve was soaked with a layer of blood.
His left hand suddenly grabbed it to stop the violent trembling. At the same time, bone-deep pain pinned his reason to the spot. His face was calm as water: “Lu Xunye, I’m tired.”
He gasped, turning his head away. “I’ll give you one last chance. If you want to go, go.”
After the door closed behind him, he could no longer support himself and collapsed to the ground.
Half-propped up, he looked indifferently at the beads of blood overflowing from the cracked wound, soaking the gauze and flowing along his palm onto the floor.
The moment warmth touched his back, Shen Yunqian’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Lu Xunye didn’t understand, dragging him up. “Don’t lie on the floor, clothes will get dirty.”
Bending over to stare at the bloodstains on the floor, his steps floating and unstable, his tone was serious: “Red wine doesn’t taste good, really!”
Shen Yunqian pinched his palm, glanced at him lightly, and turned to leave.
The reflected back in his eyes grew farther away. Lu Xunye reached out in panic to grab it, like grabbing a vague, hopeless star.
He silently withdrew his hand to look at the System crossing its legs in mid-air. “System, feels so bad.”
Hearing its nickname seriously from the Host’s mouth was a first.
The System spat out a reed grass that appeared from nowhere, flew to Lu Xunye’s eyes, displaying a malicious emoticon on its electronic screen face.
[Want to know why it feels bad?]
Lu Xunye nodded.
It leaned to his ear and screamed: [Your wife doesn’t want you anymore!]
Lu Xunye scratched his head. “But I don’t have a wife.”
System: ā_ā
Boring.
A while later, Shen Yunqian came out of the guest room holding a quilt, stuffed it all into Lu Xunye’s arms, and placed a set of keys on the quilt.
The young man’s lip line was tight, his tone cold and hard. “Your things are given to you. Still not leaving?”
Lu Xunye stared intently at the handsome young man before him, murmuring, “Wife.”
Shen Yunqian froze, his expression stiff. “What… did you call me?”
“Wi… fey?”
Lu Xunye was sensitive to his emotions. Seeing the young man’s attitude soften, perhaps from shock.
He threw the things in his arms and pushed his luck to pull his sleeve. “Not leaving, Wife, not leaving.”
Shen Yunqian’s first reaction was that he heard wrong. His gaze wavered, pupils flickering slightly, repeating in a low voice, “Not leaving?”
Lu Xunye tilted his head to look at the beautiful person. Hearing this, he shook his head. “Not leaving.”
The madness suppressed in the depths of Shen Yunqian’s eyes counterattacked like a flood breaking a dam. “Then don’t leave.”
Lu Xunye smiled. “Okayā”
Before he finished speaking, his mouth was blocked.
Faint smell of alcohol permeated the intertwined breath and lips, adding fuel to the flame in the heart. A single spark started a prairie fire.
A pain on his lip. Lu Xunye complained while separating to exchange breath, “Hurts.”
The System, released from the overwhelming mosaic, heard this and stared at the mission progress bar on the panel, secretly fanning the flames: [Just bite back.]
After saying that, the System patted its butt and went offline, leaving Lu Xunye to ponder this sentence alone.
His drunken eyelids lowered, actively approaching Shen Yunqian… and took a bite on his snow-white face.
Shen Yunqian: “…”
A wet bite mark on the fair face, the glaring teeth impression was the proud result of the instigator.
Ignoring the other’s dark gaze, Lu Xunye raised his face proudly. “I bit it. Mine.”
He cupped Shen Yunqian’s face with both hands, blowing wine breath all over his face.
Forehead against forehead, nose tip against nose tip, ambiguous breaths entangled. But Lu Xunye said, “You kissed me thirsty. Compensate me.”
Shen Yunqian’s lips parted slightly, hands wrapping around his neck to kiss him, but was dodged. He raised an eyebrow. “What compensation do you want?”
Lu Xunye thought for a moment. “I want to drink water. Sweet.”
Shen Yunqian was a bit disappointed. Seeing two pears in the fruit bowl, he asked, “Rock sugar pear soup?”
Lu Xunye: “En.”
In the kitchen, Shen Yunqian picked up the knife. A slight force caused piercing pain in the wound on his right hand. Lu Xunye stood behind him.
Letting a drunkard peel obviously wasn’t suitable. He switched the knife to his left hand without a trace, stumbling to peel the pear.
The young man busied himself in the kitchen. The water in the pot boiled in no time. He threw the pear chunks, rock sugar, soaked white fungus chunks, and red dates in to boil.
Lu Xunye shook his dizzy head. A scene flashed in his mind.
It was also like this, in the kitchen. He hugged a boy. That person’s back was very warm, waist very soft and thin.
Shen Yunqian’s slender and resilient waist, wrapped in a half-apron, swayed before his eyes.
Lu Xunye had a sudden impulse; he wanted to hug him.
He thought it, and he did it.
Shen Yunqian was focusing elsewhere. He hadn’t had time to change the gauze on his wrist; blood had already stained the inside of his pajama sleeve.
Harboring a heart of concealment, he lightened the movement of his right hand. Suddenly being hugged really startled him, his body trembling.
Holding the person solidly in his arms, Lu Xunye’s brow relaxed. Just as imagined. He rested his chin on Shen Yunqian’s shoulder fossa. Having been teased for so long, he kissed the back of the young man’s ear without a teacher.
Learning from what he saw and heard in the bar during the day, he called out with a husky voice: “Baby~ You’re so good.”
