Part 2
Feng Chengyu yawned. “Alright, stop thinking about it. Anyway, the people are dead. Just treat it as an ordinary car accident. Remember to drink with me when you come back.”
Lu Xunye agreed twice and hung up the phone.
Thinking of the information in the email… Jiang Qingran was actually the Protagonist Gong’s stepmother?
Ah pui, the ex-wife of the Protagonist Gong’s father?
And Lu Feng’s adopted sister?!
The information said that Jiang Qingran was naturally gifted. She studied with top foreign doctors from a young age, was admitted to the world’s best medical university, and successfully became a surgeon after graduation.
A few years later, she had a falling out with the Lu family over something.
Once on a plane, she acted out of urgency to save a pregnant woman who went into premature labor. Later, it was known that it was Mrs. Qin.
She was also anonymously reported by a colleague competing for the same title for practicing medicine illegally and suspected intentional homicide for lacking clinical experience in obstetrics.
Although the hospital came forward to explain and it was judged as an emergency act, it couldn’t withstand the impact of public opinion.
The hospital didn’t want to lose a medical genius, not to mention this doctor had the backing of the Lu family.
Just as the matter was calming down, no one expected Jiang Qingran to voluntarily resign.
Mrs. Qin offered to testify for Jiang Qingran, but she refused.
Considering Jiang Qingran’s situation, Mrs. Qin used her poor health as an excuse to invite her to live with her for a while and had Qin Zhuoyu, who wasn’t even a month old, acknowledge her as his godmother.
Jiang Qingran agreed. The two became friends because of this.
This was why later, Qin Zhuoyu was forced by his mother to pay respects every Qingming Festival and death anniversary.
Such a medical genius died falling off a cliff?
What an unusual way to die.
Lu Xunye’s mind was full of the mission, almost forgetting his deal with Lu Feng: take down the Si family and find the former Chairman.
Could it be true, as Lu Feng said, that the Protagonist Gong’s father actually didn’t die?
Was the so-called death by fire just a golden cicada shedding its shell?
But to escape, he burned down the Si family’s ancestral home, letting his current wife and the young Protagonist Gong suffer the glares and power-seizing “siege” of other clan relatives. Wouldn’t the loss be too great?
If not for the Shen couple’s rescue, the Protagonist Gong and his mother would have really died.
If the car accident was really related to Si Jinyan…
Should one say, ‘like father, like son’?
Was Lu Feng’s purpose in doing all this because he suspected his sister’s death was related to his brother-in-law, wanting revenge but borrowing the hand of this “illegitimate son”?
Things were getting more and more complicated. Lu Xunye seemed to smell the scent of conspiracy.
He pulled the quilt over himself, kicking a few times in frustration. Where did a little broken book get so many issues? So annoying.
Overusing the brain makes one sleepy easily. Lu Xunye couldn’t resist and let himself fall into slumber.
The sun shone high, piercing Lu Xunye’s eyes through the curtains.
He yawned. Sleepiness pulled tightly at his eyelids, refusing to let him open them.
Is it day already? Why am I still so sleepy?
Didn’t I close the curtains last night? Why is there still light?
With this realization, Lu Xunye slowly opened his eyes to see a peaceful sleeping face in front of him.
“Ah!”
With a scream, he quickly covered his mouth. Seeing Shen Yunqian beside him, his heart couldn’t calm down for a long time.
Lu Xunye was very sure he had shouted out loud.
After pausing for a moment, he found the other party didn’t react.
He was a bit puzzled. He leaned over and reached out to poke the other party, but his hand passed right through… through, and even his arm became transparent.
“Holy crap, I died?”
Ignoring whether he would be exposed, he called out urgently, “System! System?! Where’s the System?!”
While he was running around the room like an ant on a hot pan, Shen Yunqian on the bed woke up slowly.
Lu Xunye rushed in front of Shen Yunqian, trying everything including but not limited to calling him, pushing him, and lifting his quilt.
But when Shen Yunqian really propped himself up and lifted the quilt, Lu Xunye uncharacteristically turned his back, the tips of his ears turning red.
Shen Yunqian’s pajamas were half-open, hanging loosely on his round shoulders. His collarbones were covered with red marks, large and small.
Like petals of red plum blossoms scattered in the snow. The slightly long top barely covered the roots of his thighs.
The young man rubbed his watery eyes. There were several clear bite marks on his wrist, and similar marks on his neck.
The rustling sound of fabric friction lingered behind his ears like annoying burrs sticking to his body that couldn’t be shaken off, making one care even more.
Lu Xunye wanted to escape, but he heard the other party’s soft muffled groan, particularly obvious in the silent air. Startled, he couldn’t help but worry.
“What’s wrong with you?” He turned back. Seeing the fragrant and charming scenery before him, his whole head steamed as he froze in place.
Shen Yunqian seemed truly unable to hear his voice. First, he saw the sticky note by the bed and couldn’t help curving his lips. Then, his long, bare legs extended off the bed and slipped into slippers.
Only when he got dressed and went out did Lu Xunye recover slightly.
He pressed his chest, ignoring the needle-prick pain, and walked forward to read that note.
Hubby Baby, good morning~
Breakfast is in the pot, remember to eat. I asked for leave for you. You promised last night to deliver food to me at noon today, no backing out! I prepared a surprise for you; I’m waiting for you to give me a title/status~
Lu Xunye was blasted to smithereens by the cheesy words. Not thinking deeply about the handwriting, how could he not understand what happened last night at this moment? Is this the original storyline?
He tried his best to resist the urge to tear this paper into pieces. Listening to Shen Yunqian’s movements in the kitchen, he felt more and more stifled.
“If he tells you to go, you go? Why do you have no mind of your own, Shen Yunqian? I despise you.”
“You’re not allowed to go, hear me! If he has no food, let him starve. Why care about him?”
“Don’t think I didn’t see you secretly rubbing your waist.”
Lu Xunye found it hard to speak. “He… he made you like this, clearly he doesn’t care about you. How could you be the one underneath! Oh, alright, you are the Protagonist Shou.”
“Protagonist Shou won’t do either. You’re not allowed to go!”
“Si Jinyan, that dog, he abuses you, he’s ugly, he has a White Moonlight, and he’s an ingrate. are you blind?”
He followed Shen Yunqian step by step, raging impotently behind his back, but unfortunately, no one heard.
Shen Yunqian packed the lunch box and went out.
Lu Xunye was extremely spiteful.
He sat cross-legged on the sofa, not even clear why he was so angry. Shen Yunqian was the Protagonist Shou to begin with; what right did he have to be angry?
He hugged his arms, his chest heaving violently. Suddenly, a pulling sensation appeared on his body. The scene before his eyes changed abruptly into a magnificent hall.
He saw Shen Yunqian carrying the lunch box being invited in by the receptionist and entering the elevator smoothly. He was forced to follow in as well, all the way to an office door.
The people inside seemed not to care at all; the door was open a crack. Heavy breathing accompanied by ambiguous wet sounds drifted out, caught perfectly by their ears.
Lu Xunye blocked Shen Yunqian’s path, stating firmly, “He’s cheating. He’s definitely cheating. Let’s go back.”
Slowly realizing something was wrong, he rolled up his sleeves and kicked the door. “Goddamn Si Jinyan, you actually dared to give Shen Yunqian a green hat!”
Seeing his own foot pass through the door panel while the door didn’t move at all, Lu Xunye calmed down.
He thought Shen Yunqian would be angry, rush in, and give them eighteen slaps each. Instead, Shen Yunqian was exceptionally calm.
Lu Xunye was more anxious than the person involved. “You’re making a phone call at a time like this?! Shouldn’t you suspect something? Getting angry would be fine too.”
Shen Yunqian walked a few steps away and called the CEO’s secretary. “Is your CEO not in the company? There’s a couple in his office… En, you guys come up and deal with it.”
The other end stammered, “The CEO didn’t go out; he is in the office. President Shen, how about you… uh, come back in a while? Or if you have any words or items to pass on, just leave them with the receptionist.”
…
“Hello, President Shen, are you listening?”
Shen Yunqian gripped the phone tightly and said coldly, “No need. I’ll give it to him personally.”
Lu Xunye saw Shen Yunqian return and rejoiced. “You…”
The young man’s eyes were red, desperately suppressing his emotions. Lu Xunye choked back the words on his lips.
Shen Yunqian walked towards him. Lu Xunye raised his hand to hug him, but was passed through.
The door behind him was pushed open with force.
Shen Yunqian stood at the door. Looking at the floor covered in roses and various balloons inside, he suppressed his anger and said, “This is the surprise? Shouldn’t you give me an explanation?”
On the sofa usually used for guests, a man and a woman were hugging, their clothes disheveled.
The man pulled clothes over the exposed woman, hastily buckling his belt with one hand.
An impatient look shot over. “Get out! Don’t disturb my good time!”
Shen Yunqian met his fierce gaze, walked closer, and smashed the lunch box onto the man. Food splattered all over him.
No one saw that the young man’s palm, hanging by his side, had been pinched until it bled.
Yet Shen Yunqian put on a brave front. “Lu Siheng, if you want to break up, just say it. There’s no need to disgust me like this.”
The moment Shen Yunqian pushed open the door, Lu Xunye saw the face of the man inside clearly and stumbled back several steps in a wretched state.
All because that man actually wore a face identical to his own.
