The Cannon Fodder Lets Loose and Steals the Protagonist Shou Chapter 62.1

Chapter 62: Data Corruption — “How Heartbroken He Must Be” part 1

“F*ck!”

Lu Siheng was drenched in food and soup. Greasy, hot oil stains and vegetable scraps clung to his pristine suit jacket.

He ripped the jacket off and slammed it onto the floor, glaring murderously at Shen Yunqian. “I’ll kill you!”

Before he could lash out, the woman—having hastily thrown her clothes back on—grabbed his arm to hold him back. Her soft, supple body leaned against him as if she were boneless.

She put on a feigned look of reproach. “President Lu… that is Mr. Shen, your lover. If you lay a hand on him and word gets out, it wouldn’t look very good, would it?”

Her curvaceous chest brushed against the man’s torso, intentionally or otherwise. She cast a sideways glance at Shen Yunqian, the triumph in her eyes ill-concealed as she struck the pose of a victor.

Shen Yunqian stared at their touching skin, then at the floor covered in ruined petals and green stems. Only a few stray letter balloons remained floating in the air; the rest had been popped and trampled into the mess on the ground, a testament to the perpetrator’s earlier rage.

His clenched hands trembled uncontrollably. Taking a deep breath, he let out a weary sigh. “Stop messing around. I was too tired last night and didn’t satisfy you, but there’s no need to use something like this to spite me.”

“Now, tell her to get out. We need to talk.”

He spoke calmly, but anyone could hear the self-deception in his voice.

“Tell her to get out?”

Lu Siheng sneered, pulling the woman tighter against his waist. He looked at Shen Yunqian with utter disdain. “Who do you think you are? You’re just a cheap btch begging to be fcked. What right do you have to tell my beauty to leave?”

As he spoke, he hooked a finger under the woman’s chin with one hand and kneaded her waist with the other. Her body instantly went limp, and an ambiguous, flirtatious moan escaped her lips.

“You motherf*cker!”

Lu Xunye swung a fist at Lu Siheng—the man who shared his exact face. He put every ounce of strength into it, but as expected, his hand passed right through the man’s body.

He stared blankly at his transparent hand, experiencing a sense of crushing defeat for the first time.

Shen Yunqian’s gaze pierced through Lu Xunye’s ethereal form, landing on Lu Siheng. Suddenly, he let out a short laugh. He felt utterly pathetic. Nodding, he said, “Fine. Have it your way, Lu Siheng. Just don’t you dare regret it.”

Only Lu Xunye could see the shattered, pale reality hidden beneath Shen Yunqian’s stoic mask. He couldn’t bear to look any longer and slapped himself hard. “Wake up! Why won’t I wake up? This dream… make it stop!”

“President Lu, if you treat Mr. Shen like this, what if he goes home and gets angry with you?” The woman toyed with the buttons of the man’s shirt, looking up at him with longing eyes, completely ignoring Shen Yunqian’s presence.

Lu Siheng caught her wandering hand, leaned down, and scooped her up in his arms, heading toward the sofa. “Who cares about him? A dead faggot. Disgusting.”

Hearing those words, Shen Yunqian’s step faltered as he headed for the door, but then he quickened his pace and left.

Bound by an invisible force, Lu Xunye could only follow at Shen Yunqian’s side. He watched as Shen Yunqian kept walking—walking until he reached a deserted corner.

The young man leaned against the wall, staring blankly at the azure sky. Then, his strength seemed to fail him, and he slid down to the ground. He curled into a ball, hugging his knees with his face buried in his arms, looking as pitiful as an abandoned kitten.

He looked exactly as he had when Lu Xunye first saw him in the studio at his house—shrouded in gloom, as if the entire world had forsaken him, left with no choice but to lick his own wounds in solitude.

Even though the other couldn’t hear him, Lu Xunye wanted to say something, but he didn’t know what. He was a mess—panicked, uneasy, and even more furious, as if he were the one being cheated on.

Lu Xunye crouched in front of Shen Yunqian. His outstretched hand hovered just before the young man’s soft hair, his fingertips curling. He heard the sound of Shen Yunqian’s muffled sobs.

It started small and intermittent, but eventually grew louder, crashing against Lu Xunye’s eardrums like a series of explosions.

He cried for a long time. So long that Lu Xunye thought it could never end. So long that it seemed he intended to drain every tear he had for the rest of his life, so that no one could ever move him to sorrow again.

It was the first time Lu Xunye had seen Shen Yunqian cry so wretchedly. So… Shen Yunqian was like any other person; he would start by blacklisting the contact.

As his finger hovered over the red ‘Delete’ button, Lu Xunye desperately wanted to help him press it. But then he saw Shen Yunqian haphazardly wipe his face, restoring his usual calm demeanor. Only his slightly swollen eyes offered a glimpse into the fragility he had just shown.

Shen Yunqian went back.

Downstairs at the company, a cleaning uncle had just pushed a bag of trash out of the revolving door when a young man rushed over, grabbed the bag, and began rummaging through it.

“Child, child, don’t scare me. How about I buy you a bowl of noodles? This is all trash, you can’t just dig through it.”

The old man tried to persuade him with earnest concern, but the person digging through the trash ignored him. The uncle could only sigh, shake his head, and walk away.

“Shen Yunqian, get a grip!”

Lu Xunye wanted to stop him but couldn’t. He could only watch in desperate anxiety.

Shen Yunqian pulled a popped balloon out of the pile of trash and withered leaves. His fair hands were covered in bloody scratches from the thorns on the rose stems. Lu Xunye’s heart skipped a beat at the sight.

Lu Xunye didn’t know what the other had seen, but Shen Yunqian’s hand shook violently as he gripped the plastic skin of the balloon.

Shen Yunqian charged into the building.

This time, the receptionist didn’t greet him with a smile. Instead, she followed him with a troubled expression. “President Shen, President Shen, please wait a moment. The CEO said you aren’t allowed up.”

Shen Yunqian brushed her off and headed straight for his destination. From walking to running, he left the onlookers far behind. When he reached the top floor, the people there didn’t dare stop him. Even with a crowd of security guards present, the lone young man was allowed through.

It was so seamless that Lu Xunye felt as though they had never truly intended to stop him from the beginning; they were just going through the motions to appease the person who gave the order.

The office door was slammed open. Lu Siheng turned around by the floor-to-ceiling window. When he saw who it was, his eyes widened in fury. “You still dare to come here?”

Without a word, the young man walked straight toward him. He snatched an object from the desk and, like a sudden gust of wind, pinned the man against the glass in an instant.

Lu Siheng let out a grunt of pain as his back hit the glass. Before he could react, he felt a cold sensation against his neck. He stared in disbelief at the person holding a fruit knife against his jugular.

Shen Yunqian pressed his forearm across the man’s chest, pinning him ruthlessly against the window. With his other hand, he held the blade in a reverse grip, the edge pressing against the man’s Adam’s apple, which bobbed frantically in fear.

The young man’s palm gripped the hilt tightly. His eyes, which had just finished crying, were now bloodshot. He glared with cold eyes and demanded, “Where is Lu Siheng!”

Lu Xunye, having just caught up, witnessed this scene. There were no words to describe his current state of mind. The world before his eyes seemed split in two—bizarre yet somehow perfectly logical.

“You’re crazy!” Lu Siheng spat through gritted teeth, though he couldn’t stop himself from trembling.

Shen Yunqian sneered. “Scared?”

Then, his gaze sharpened. “As I thought. You aren’t him.”

“Speak!” The bone-chilling blade pressed a fraction closer. “Where is Lu Siheng? Where did you hide him?”

Lu Siheng’s eyes darted around. Detecting his intent, Shen Yunqian laughed with contempt. “No one is coming in here. Do you know why?”

“Because everyone knows I would never hurt him. But you… you are different.” Shen Yunqian’s sharp blade had already drawn a thin line of blood on his skin. “Want to test me?”

“I… I don’t know what you’re talking about! I am Lu Siheng!”

Feeling the pain, a chill ran from the man’s soles to the top of his head. He finally panicked. “Murder is a capital offense! If you kill me, don’t think you’re getting away with it!”

“You won’t be around to see me pay for it.” Shen Yunqian’s lips curled into a wicked smile. “But I can watch you die with my own eyes.”

Without another word, he pulled the blade back and raised his hand to plunge it into the man’s throat.

Seeing that he couldn’t dodge, Lu Siheng turned pale with terror. He closed his eyes and screamed, “If you kill me, he dies too!”

The flat of the blade brushed past the man’s neck and slammed into the glass behind him. He was still alive.

Shen Yunqian had been bluffing from the start. Realizing this, the man’s face turned livid.

Shen Yunqian froze for a moment. He put the knife back to the man’s throat and asked hesitantly, “What did you mean? What do you mean Lu Siheng dies if you die?”

Seeing that the game was up, the “Lu Siheng” gave up the act. Looking at the mad, extremist person before him, he spoke each word like a thunderclap.

“Because this body belongs to him.”
