Part 2
As the first light of dawn appeared.
Lu Xunye woke up. Sensing the warm, soft body in his arms, he skillfully released his grip and pulled his leg back from where it was draped over the youth.
Actually, the two slept on opposite sides every night. Lu Xunye wished he could pull the space between them into a Milky Way.
The first half of the night was fine. But after falling into a deep sleep in the second half, Lu Xunye became restless.
He would either hug a pillow or hug Shen Yunqian with both his hands and feet.
Shen Yunqian, on the other handâaside from being forced to change his sleeping posture when huggedâlooked the same before and after sleeping.
In the System’s words, Lu Xunye was highly unprofessional; as a body pillow, he was using someone else as a pillow.
Whenever this happened, Lu Xunye would feel lucky: Fortunately, Shen Yunqian sleeps even deeper than I do. He has no idea about my ‘unprofessional’ behavior.
Every time he woke up, he would stealthily pull back his limbs and roll to the edge of the bed, waiting ten minutes.
During that time, he would focus on listening to Shen Yunqianâs breathing before pretending to have just woken up and shaking the other awake.
This time was the same. He buried his face in the pillow and dozed for a while, letting out a silent yawn.
Without even opening his eyes, he reached out from under the quilt, pinched the lower half of Shen Yunqianâs face, and shook it. “Wake up. It’s time to get up.”
His voice carried the raspy quality of sleepiness. After several shakes, the person beside him moved.
That person pulled the quilt over his head, then squeezed into Lu Xunyeâs arms, his voice faint. “It hurts. Not running.”
Lu Xunye looked down at the head buried under the quilt. He propped up the otherâs chin with one hand, pulling back a gap to give him room to breathe. “Where does it hurt?”
He thought for a moment and turned the air conditioning up a bit.
Shen Yunqian grabbed the hand at his chin and moved it down, placing it over his inner thigh. “Here hurts.”
“…?!” Lu Xunye heartlessly pulled his hand back. “Itâll stop hurting once you practice more.”
The person under the quilt went still. Lu Xunye thought: Was I too harsh?
He said helplessly, “Then Iâll halve your horse stance time today?”
After waiting a long time without a reply, Lu Xunye lifted the corner of the quilt in confusion and found the other had fallen asleep.
He poked the whorl of hair on the youthâs head. “Wake up. If you keep this up, Iâll have Guo Yi scold you.”
Being pestered so much, Shen Yunqian only muttered: “…Sleepy.”
“Sleepy?”
Lu Xunye was surprised. The youth had slept since 4:00 PM yesterday, and after being woken up for dinner, he had slept until now.
A full 14 hours, and he was still sleepy?
He placed his palm on the otherâs forehead. It wasn’t hot. No fever. Just pure sleepiness?
Lu Xunye guessed that perhaps the amount of exercise had been too much and the body couldn’t handle it for now.
Fine, fine. Heâd give him a day off today. It just so happened he had to attend the new product launch at Lu Group today.
He got out of bed, checked the time, and made breakfast. He left half in a warming pot and went back to the bedroom to stick a note on the nightstand, telling the other to eat on time.
Lu Group Headquarters.
Lounge.
Lu Xunye was pressed onto the sofa by a stylist. Facing a mirror, he was forced to accept the otherâs “wanton behavior” on his hair and face.
“Young Master Lu, you can open your eyes. Are you satisfied with the hairstyle and makeup?”
“No need. Just do whatever. I’m fine with anything.” Lu Xunye said this, but in reality, he was a bit sick of looking at this face lately.
In his career, the stylist had rarely met such a wealthy, indifferent young master. “…Alright.”
…
At the launch event.
The launch used a livestream format, as Lu Yan had requested.
The first row of seats near the stage and the rows behind were for media reporters. The first few rows were for business partners and Lu Group shareholders.
Lu Xunye sat in the first row. To his left was Lu Feng, and to his right was… he forced himself to open his mouth to greet him. “Lu… Dad?”
The other looked him up and down. His gaze was strange, but he ultimately acknowledged the address. “En.”
Since there were media on both sides, to make the following play easier to act out.
Lu Xunye thought he should be more polite to avoid the media making up stories about skipped generations for the inheritance or family discord.
But he forgot that his nominal “Dad,” though looking a bit aged, was actually only 13 years older than him.
Lu Xunye propped up his head in self-imposed isolation. He was patted on the shoulder.
He snapped back to reality. Lu Feng had a kind face and spoke gently. “Don’t be nervous. Youâll see more of this in the future. Youâll get used to it.”
He pointed to the high platform under the spotlight ahead. “In the future, youâll also stand up there to bring honor to the Lu Group.”
Lu Xunye didn’t miss the shot from the livestream equipment. He grabbed Lu Fengâs hand with an emotional look. “Don’t worry. I definitely will.”
Finally, Lu Yan was ready. He went onto the stage to begin introducing this new type of bionic humanoid robot.
He explained the new product from various aspects: creative concept, performance, chips, production cost, and selling price.
Finally, he looked toward the future.
He stated that with the technology currently held by the Lu Group, they might become the first tech company in the world to truly create a bionic human indistinguishable from a living human being.
After he finished, there was an uproar from the audience. Everyone burst into applause, and the venue was filled with thunderous noise. With a controlling gesture from Lu Yan, silence was restored.
Lu Fengâs tight frown from the beginning also gradually relaxed.
Lu Xunye felt a strange sense of familiarity with what he said. He looked around and finally spotted his so-called “Second Aunt” in the dimly lit third row.
As Lu Yanâs fiancĂŠe, she naturally had to be present. Beside her was Old Mr. Wen, who had been invited as a partner.
The launch had one final segment: a detailed explanation of the robotâs convenience in daily life using an app projection.
Lu Yan walked from the lectern to the center of the stage. The spotlights dimmed. He pressed a button on the remote for the projector at the back of the hall.
The giant electronic screen behind him lagged for two seconds before it started playing the footage from that USB drive.
A gasp went through the audience. The smart media outlets cut their livestreams immediately.
But there were always some mediaâeither seeking traffic at any cost or sent by competitorsâwho immediately shouldered their cameras to continue the livestream.
Lu Feng couldn’t sit still anymore. He stood up and roared: “Where are the people! Handle this immediately!”
The upper half of Lu Xunyeâs face was solemn, but he covered his mouth to hide the smile he couldn’t suppress.
Needless to say, Lu Yan, who was the target of everyoneâs gaze, had lost all his earlier poise.
He scrambled for a microphone and tried to explain: “This is all fake! Someone must be intentionally sabotaging this launch! Please be careful to distinguish truth from falsehood. Do not spread rumors.”
He was still relatively calm at this point. but when the next video played, he could no longer maintain his mask and smashed the microphone in public.
The moment the microphone hit the floor, a sharp screeching noise rang out.
The entire venue heard his furious roar: “Wen Luoxi, you did this, didn’t you! You bitch, get out here and explain yourself!”
The livestream camera panned over. Wen Luoxi was already buried in her grandfatherâs arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
In the livestream chat, comments scrolled by rapidly.
Because the screen didn’t just show Lu Yanâs threats and insults toward Wen Luoxi at the restroom door that day, but also his intimacy with other pixelated bodies.
For a moment, no one spoke.ć§ć§ (Ăimèi/Ambiguous) moans echoed in everyoneâs ears.
Wen Luoxi acted as if she had only today discovered her fiancĂŠâs infidelity, sobbing until she nearly fainted.
People around cast sympathetic looks, making it impossible for the livid Old Mr. Wen to scold her as he had intended.
Lu Xunye once again affirmed her masterful acting skills. The Lu family people were in total chaos, except for one person: his “Dad.”
“You teamed up with the Wen family daughter, didn’t you?”
Lu Xunyeâs eyelid jumped. He looked at his “Dad” innocently. “What are you saying? I also only found out today that Second Uncle and Miss Wen aren’t as affectionate as rumors say.”
“Rumors really can’t be trusted.” He sighed and lowered his voice. “It makes me feel that you also might not be as the rumors sayâ”
“âRoguish and affectionate?”
