Part 4
The world in his eyes was covered with a thin veil; his brain was thinking sluggishly.
The temperature in the hotel was comfortable, but the motley pheromones mixed together became unusually vivid—cedar, leather, rose… every type seemed to have substance, wrapping around his senses.
Seemingly affected by that Omega’s heat, Tang Xingye’s perception of pheromones became increasingly sensitive.
Tang Xingye never actively put himself in danger. The influence of the Omega’s pheromones exceeded his expectations. Despite washing his face with cold water, his brain remained in a chaotic state, as if he hadn’t fully woken up.
If his brain were clear, Tang Xingye would definitely find a staff member immediately to ask for a soothing agent. But his thinking was half a beat slow; his brain only remembered the last command: go out and blow in the night breeze to sober up.
Tang Xingye walked and stopped along the way. Some places smelled too bad, some were too loud, some were ugly. He didn’t know where he was going, just wandering.
The gland at his neck was hot and throbbing with pain, as if it were about to catch fire.
His head was spinning. Do I have a fever? Tang Xingye realized this belatedly.
He wanted to find a place to lie down. He randomly pushed open a door to a quiet, elegant room. It was pitch black inside, seemingly empty.
Tang Xingye locked the door, lay down on the sofa, intending to sleep and tough it out.
Suddenly, the light turned on. Tang Xingye blinked. A tall Alpha appeared in his field of vision. The other’s eyes were pitch-black, the corners of his lips lacking their usual smile, carrying a hint of sharpness and oppression.
He seemed very unwelcoming to the uninvited guest. Stingy!
“Tang Xingye?”
Ji Chen had no interest in the party. He had just found a good spot to hide and relax when someone suddenly intruded into his territory.
This made Ji Chen frown slightly. He had no interest in sharing a room with a stranger and was about to kick the person out.
Suddenly, a familiar cold fragrance drifted over. Very faint, but very pleasant, like a small hook, addictive. It wasn’t pheromones, yet it involuntarily produced a restless reaction.
Very unique. He identified the owner of this fragrance instantly.
Tang Xingye’s face was already flushed red like he was drunk. The corners of his eyes were wet with red, his gaze a bit unfocused, looking a bit slow and bewildered.
“Are you drunk?”
Tang Xingye wanted to refute, but when he opened his mouth, it turned into a whimper.
Ji Chen looked at Tang Xingye thoughtfully. He was stained with strong Omega pheromones.
Ji Chen paused, moving closer. He smelled the faint fruit wine pheromones amidst the fragrance.
Tang Xingye rubbed against the sofa uncomfortably. “Give me… your pheromones.”
Doesn’t look drunk. More like induced heat.
How can a Beta go into heat? Ji Chen chuckled lightly, overturning this conclusion. Probably just drunken nonsense. “Honestly. Ate your candy, now I owe you a glass of water.”
Someone handed him a glass of ice water.
Tang Xingye blinked slowly, his eyelashes casting small shadows under the light. Water droplets condensed on the glass wall, sliding down his wrist bone into his cuff, spreading dark stains on the lace fabric.
So cold.
He lowered his head to lick the water trail on his wrist, not noticing his collar had unknowingly slipped down one side. His snowy-white shoulder was flushed pink.
“Don’t lick. Drink the water.”
Tang Xingye hated being ordered around. The tip of his tongue continued to lick slowly up his wet wrist, deliberately smearing the water trail even messier. The cool touch made him squint comfortably.
“Open your mouth.”
Tang Xingye looked up at him, stubbornness still in his eyes. The ice water poured into his mouth. Tang Xingye swallowed instinctively, yet some liquid still spilled over, sliding down his chin to wet Ji Chen’s fingertips.
As if possessed, he took that finger into his mouth.
The moist, warm mouth wrapped around Ji Chen’s knuckle. The tip of the tongue unconsciously brushed over the pad of his finger, as if tasting the residual water. Ji Chen’s movement paused, his breath hitching imperceptibly.
Tang Xingye didn’t seem to realize what he was doing until he swallowed the last mouthful of water. Only then did he belatedly release his teeth, eyelashes trembling, looking at Ji Chen somewhat blankly.
Two glasses of ice water made his consciousness a little clearer, but his cheeks still burned. He licked his lips, trying to mask his loss of composure, and said casually, “Your pheromones smell pretty good.”
Ji Chen withdrew his hand, a bit of wetness remaining on his knuckle. He looked down at Tang Xingye, his tone indifferent. “I don’t have pheromones right now.”
“If you want to stay, you can stay here.”
Intentions exposed.
Tang Xingye knew that besides fighting, Ji Chen’s territorial awareness was very strong; he didn’t like being disturbed. Tang Xingye felt this place was quiet and elegant, devoid of pheromones, and comfortable to stay in.
Tang Xingye leaned back, nestling lazily into the sofa. Ji Chen suddenly spoke. “Looking good.”
Tang Xingye paused. “I also think this dress looks good.”
Ji Chen: “I was talking about you.”
Tang Xingye didn’t hear that sentence. Feeling a bit hot, he tugged at the skirt. “Want to touch it? This fabric is actually quite comfortable. I stroked it several times.”
Ji Chen: “?”
Tang Xingye leaned against the dark sofa. His already fair skin looked blindingly white, like a handful of fresh snow. The corners of his eyes flushed with drunken redness; a single upward glance was incredibly alluring.
Yet the owner’s expression was innocent, speaking such words without self-awareness. No matter how you looked at it, it didn’t seem intentional.
Ji Chen’s eyes darkened slightly. “Are you like this with everyone?”
As a member of the Disciplinary Committee, he knew Tang Xingye’s “reputation” too well—stalkers were fanatical about him, countless Alphas wore collars claiming to be Tang Xingye’s dogs. Even if Tang Xingye slapped them, these people would clap and cheer.
Tang Xingye raised his watery eyes, looking at him in confusion. “You keep staring. Doesn’t that mean you want to touch?”
Ji Chen: “…”
Ji Chen: “Thanks, you’re quite generous.”
Tang Xingye hummed and laughed twice. “Your thanks lacks sincerity.”
Ji Chen didn’t have a habit of bullying drunks. Seeing the exposed shoulder, he took his jacket from the coat rack nearby, walked over, and tossed it to Tang Xingye, intending to let him cover up.
Unexpectedly, his wrist was suddenly grabbed. The world spun, and Ji Chen was pulled down onto the sofa.
Tang Xingye looked at him, hair falling down, carrying a faint, elusive cold fragrance. “Don’t know how to touch?” He smiled slyly, eyes flowing with light. “I’ll. Teach. You.”
These words carried thick mockery. Ji Chen quickly realized Tang Xingye was paying him back for that sentence, “I’ll teach you.”
His eyes darkened. Before he could speak, Tang Xingye had already caught his hand and pressed it directly onto his own leg.
“Very soft, right? When I touched it, it felt like… silk.” Tang Xingye’s voice suddenly became slurred, as if the drunkenness surged up again. “No, I haven’t touched silk. It just feels very smooth, very comfortable.”
Ji Chen didn’t move. He could clearly feel the texture of the skin under his palm.
Tang Xingye smiled provocatively. “You dare not touch? Are the rumors that you have a phobia of Omegas true?”
The sudden personal question stunned Ji Chen slightly. Then Tang Xingye pressed closer, an elusive touch landing on his face, inevitably causing one’s thoughts to run wild.
He saw the curled corners of the beautiful Beta’s lips, his eyes carrying a look of triumphant pride.
“You’re drunk,” Ji Chen warned, his eyes deep. “Get up.”
“Looks like it’s true.” Tang Xingye licked his lips, smiling slyly. “My guess was spot on.”
—Ji Chen really is afraid of Os.
I won.
But in the next second, the Alpha’s hand suddenly clamped onto his waist. The temperature of the palm was scorching. Tang Xingye’s breath hitched, the smile freezing on his face.
Numbing electric currents surged constantly, drilling into his nerves, making him curl up involuntarily.
“Wait—” Tang Xingye’s throat tightened. He tried to shrink back but was held firmly by Ji Chen.
The Alpha’s fingertips lingered deliberately, even scratching wickedly, satisfied to watch Tang Xingye’s body tense up.
Ji Chen chuckled low, his voice husky and carrying a tone of satiation:
“Confirmed. Very soft.”
