The Coveted Gloomy Beta Roommate Chapter 54.1

Chapter 54: Pheromone Exchange: “Are They All Your Boyfriends?” part 1

The four eyes met. The Alpha pheromones surging in the air carried a dangerous aggression.

“Are you in a rut?”

Tang Xingye subconsciously gripped the doorframe, his expression vigilant. Lin Mo’s expression froze, but he quickly realized—Tang Xingye had mistaken his condition for a rut.

Lin Mo knew perfectly well he wasn’t in a rut; his skin hunger disorder was flaring up. Had Tang Xingye’s sudden return caused him to notice something?

Like a bucket of cold water had been poured over him, Lin Mo’s consciousness cleared significantly. He stuffed Tang Xingye’s clothes into the Beta’s hands, his voice hoarse. “Your clothes were stained with Omega pheromones.”

As Lin Mo brushed past him, Tang Xingye called out, “Where are you going?”

“To extract the pheromones,” Lin Mo turned his head, his expression grim and his tone self-deprecating. “Unless you want to help me?”

It looked as though he was using the last of his strength to suppress himself, preventing his agitation from lashing out at the other person.

Tang Xingye, of course, couldn’t help him. Even when Lin Mo had previously offered to cover him with pheromones, Tang Xingye had refused without hesitation. He said he would come back, yet he had stayed out all night again. Even if Tang Xingye were to help, it would likely only be for some other Alpha.

Suppressed desire mixed with a hint of annoyance—though this anger wasn’t directed at Tang Xingye, but at those other Alphas.

His pitch-black eyes were as thick as ink. He looked at the prey he had been stalking for so long, and his heart sank bit by bit.

He was still pretending everything was fine. He hadn’t yet made Tang Xingye accustomed to relying on him.

He had to pretend. He had to keep pretending.

At the same time, he harbored a secret hope that Tang Xingye would discover a clue.

Baby, you’re so smart. You must have noticed something is wrong.

Come and test me, won’t you?

“I’ll help you.” Tang Xingye looked up, his dark eyes meeting Lin Mo’s, allowing the peppermint-scented pheromones to envelop him.

Tang Xingye’s expression was natural, his eyes holding a probing look, perhaps even suspicion. But to Lin Mo, he looked like a kitten holding its head high and walking voluntarily into a trap, completely unaware that it was about to be caught and kissed senseless.

Lin Mo’s breathing grew heavier for a second. Tang Xingye didn’t give him a chance to refuse. “What? Do you not dare? Are you afraid I’ll do something to you?”

“With your pheromones this concentrated, can you even make it to the lab?”

Lin Mo naturally had no reason to refuse. His gaze fell on Tang Xingye’s face. Those eyes were misty, and his cold-white complexion was flushed with a touch of red, like a vibrant plum grove in the snow, commanding all attention.

He knew about Tang Xingye’s special constitution. Even when affected by pheromones to this extent, did he still want to test him?

While finding it incredible, a sense of pleasure surged in his heart. The feeling of Tang Xingye being dyed in his colors and scent was simply too wonderful.

Tang Xingye couldn’t just let Lin Mo leave like this. Would an Alpha hug a Beta’s clothes so casually? Especially since Lin Mo was a germaphobe.

He felt something was vaguely wrong, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.

Tang Xingye found the peppermint scent very pleasant—cool and refreshing—and it hooked out a desire for more pheromones.

Was there something wrong with his gland again? When those pheromones had entangled him before, his state had been very similar to a forced heat.

Now, as the rich pheromones washed over him, they only brought a floating sense of comfort.

Forget it, I’ll go to the school hospital for a checkup later.

Tang Xingye looked down at Lin Mo’s gland. It was red, swollen, and scorching hot.

His long, fair fingers pressed against it; it was slightly distended, forming a sharp color contrast with his hand.

The color is so dark. So ugly.

Tang Xingye pondered, recalling textbook illustrations. Are Alpha glands always this ugly?

Being pressed lightly like this triggered a numbing pleasure. Lin Mo’s expression nearly cracked; just one finger from Tang Xingye was enough to excite him.

Tang Xingye frowned slightly. His snow-white face seemed unaware of the Alpha’s anomaly, leaving his creamy neck defenselessly exposed before Lin Mo’s eyes.

Tang Xingye always carried the scents of many people. Alphas, Omegas, and even Betas who bought simulated pheromone perfumes, all attempting to taint Tang Xingye with their smell.

On anyone else, such a mottled mess of pheromones would be considered promiscuous.

But with Tang Xingye, it was different. Those fanatical suitors rushed forward one after another, longing like moths to a flame to leave even the faintest mark on him.

Now that the cedar scent had faded and Tang Xingye carried no other pheromones, it proved he hadn’t been with anyone else—at least not in this short period.

“Don’t move.”

Tang Xingye stepped forward and held Lin Mo’s shoulder. His soft arm brushed against the Alpha, enveloping him in a warm, sweet fragrance.

Lin Mo felt a bit overwhelmed. This was Tang Xingye voluntarily approaching him while sober.

At the start of the semester, Tang Xingye would always secretly look at him or deliberately touch his things, like a mischievous kitten playing with a glass cup.

Lin Mo had thought Tang Xingye recognized him, and his heart had been full of joy. But then Tang Xingye had avoided him and secretly cursed him in a diary.

Now, the beautiful kitten was actively coming over to rub against him, resting on his shoulder.

Pathological love birthed a sticky excitement, causing the pheromones in his gland to flow out even more.

Lin Mo’s reason and body seemed to split in two. Rationally, he warned himself not to cross the line and arouse suspicion, but his body was rigid with desire.

He secretly tightened his hand, digging his nails into his palm, tensing his muscles.

Eventually, the pain couldn’t stop him from accepting the temptation. He leaned in to sniff Tang Xingye’s scent.

I want to do it with Baby so bad. Press Baby against the dorm door, grab his waist from behind…

Baby would be worried about passersby hearing, biting his lip while crying from the sensation.

Lin Mo leaned forward, wanting to grab Tang Xingye’s waist, pull him into his arms, nuzzle that creamy neck, and bite down.

The next second, Lin Mo’s gland was slapped hard.

“Stop moving around!”

A sharp needle pierced the skin, and clear pheromone fluid was drawn out, filling the syringe.

The Beta’s eyes held a cold dissatisfaction. Lin Mo’s reason returned. His eyes darkened as he said hoarsely, “Sorry.”

Tang Xingye’s expression improved slightly. “Just a verbal apology?”

Lin Mo’s thirst disorder might have flared, but his brain was still functioning. He could naturally see what Tang Xingye was planning. “Take the pheromones as an apology.”

Tang Xingye smiled then, like a little fox that had stolen some honey.

Seeing Tang Xingye’s smile, Lin Mo’s heart was tickled again. But he restrained himself. He couldn’t rush.

After Lin Mo left the dorm, the peppermint pheromones still lingered in the air. Tang Xingye felt like he had just climbed out of a comfortable hot spring, taking a deep breath.

He carefully recalled Lin Mo’s reaction—his expression tense, hands clenched tight, as if he were trying his hardest to endure the smell of floral water on Tang Xingye.

Was I overthinking it?

Tang Xingye composed his expression and walked quickly to the wardrobe. He checked all his clothes and found they hadn’t been moved.

Perhaps he had thought too poorly of the guy again. Tang Xingye realized he seemed prone to assuming the worst of Lin Mo.

Tang Xingye scratched his hair. In the end, he blamed it on Lin Mo—it was all because he had a face that looked difficult to deal with, making people overthink.

This should have been a misunderstood interlude, something to let pass.

But that damn pervert wouldn’t let Tang Xingye go. He appeared again, stealing his underwear and thoughtfully leaving cash and a printed note.

[Wifey, urgent need for a rut. Bought two pairs.]

Tang Xingye: “……”

An exchange of goods makes it not stealing, right?! That damn pervert!

Both the cash and the note had been processed to leave no trace. Tang Xingye had no choice but to apply to check the surveillance footage. As for the reason, he certainly couldn’t say he lost his underwear.

He dumped the blame on Lu Zhi, who happily accepted the fabricated scenario that his luxury watch had been stolen.

The cold light of the monitor reflected in Tang Xingye’s eyes as he intently watched every corner of the dorm entrance. The cameras were working perfectly, but no suspicious person appeared.

Tang Xingye pondered for a while, then decided to put the matter aside for now. He decided to go to the school hospital for a checkup. Lifting his eyes, he saw Lu Zhi arguing with Pei Lian again.

Lu Zhi couldn’t stand Pei Lian’s “green tea” act and nitpicked, “Can’t you do a simulated sketch? You’re useless.”

Pei Lian didn’t care what Lu Zhi said. Seeing Tang Xingye’s gaze turn toward them, he smiled, revealing his little canine teeth. He leaned in and affectionately tugged at Tang Xingye’s cuff. “Xingye, did you get a dog? It keeps barking.”

Lu Zhi: “Pei Lian! You motherf*cker!”

Cocoa and Lemon battled in the confined space, like two male beasts fighting for a mate.

Tang Xingye looked at the two men at daggers drawn, rubbed his gland, and felt fed by the pheromones they released.

“If you want to fight, go to the training grounds.” Leaving those words behind, he walked away.
