The Coveted Gloomy Beta Roommate Chapter 72.2

Part 2

Knock knock.

As if echoing the conversation, a knocking sound came from the window. Tang Xingye turned his head and saw a familiar face.

“Don’t you use the front door?” Tang Xingye looked up, watching Ji Chen climb in through the window. He hadn’t picked up any dust, and his clothes had no wrinkles; he seemed very practiced at this.

“Going around is too much trouble; the window is faster.”

Ji Chen felt bored with the school ball. He always felt something was missing. He had gotten through them like this before, but now he felt exceptionally irritable.

After finishing a large bag of candy, he spotted the knuckles in the corner. Thinking about it, he hadn’t seen Tang Xingye today. He didn’t know which study room the guy was hiding in like a cat, but then he turned around and saw Tang Xingye leaning half into Lin Mo’s embrace.

Catching the deep meaning in Lin Mo’s eyes, Ji Chen had originally wanted to come over and talk to Tang Xingye about raising another dog. But seeing the person injured, his mood dampened.

He cursed Lu Zhi in his heart for being useless; couldn’t even watch over a person properly.

Tang Xingye leaned back against the headboard. His skin was fair, like a patch of moonlight falling onto the soft bed.

Tang Xingye’s mattress sank a little, and then the Alpha’s body heat transferred through the air. His calf was grabbed.

“Let go.” A scorching palm pressed against him. Tang Xingye felt a bit uncomfortable and wanted to twist away, but was restrained firmly.

Ji Chen’s gaze landed on the slender waist, which trembled slightly.

He withdrew his gaze and checked. His palm contrasted sharply with the cold-white skin tone, making Tang Xingye look even more like a handful of snow. Intertwined, it inexplicably gave the illusion of something being tainted.

Ji Chen confirmed there was nothing serious, let go, and changed the subject nonchalantly. “Was the ball fun?”

Tang Xingye pulled back his leg, pursing his lips unhappily, and didn’t answer immediately.

It was clearly Ji Chen who had provoked his emotions and attention with that ambiguous action, so why was he now asking such an irrelevant question like nothing happened?

His gaze fell on the arm with bulging veins. A look of realization surfaced on his face, and the corner of his lips hooked into a cold arc. “You want to be pricked by a needle again? If you’re feeling uncomfortable, go find a doctor.”

Ji Chen chuckled low. “Only your pricks hurt particularly well. You’re quite gentle to Betas and Omegas, why aren’t you friendlier to Alphas?”

Tang Xingye lifted his eyelids. Could the danger level of an Alpha be compared to a Beta?

Ji Chen understood the meaning in his black-and-white eyes and laughed lightly. “At least I pose no threat to you.”

Tang Xingye thought for a moment. Ji Chen was actually telling the truth. He wasn’t like Lu Zhi and Pei Lian, those two masochists who got off on being slapped, even comparing whose slap mark was deeper. On second thought, Ji Chen had no pain sensation; to restore feeling, his behavioral logic was similar to masochism.

“Since you’re so worried, carry this with you.” Ji Chen felt it was good for a Beta to be a bit more defensive. He handed a metal block to Tang Xingye.

Tang Xingye took it. It felt heavy in his hand—a finely crafted set of electric knuckles. This was contraband in school. He raised an eyebrow. “Are you knowingly breaking the law, or is this entrapment?”

Ji Chen cooperated perfectly, lowering his voice. With a barely visible smile in his eyes, he played along. “No, I’m looking for an accomplice. Now you’ve received the ‘stolen goods’ too, Student Tang. We’re in the same boat.”

Accomplice?

When Tang Xingye put them on, the size fit perfectly, as if custom-made for him.

Ji Chen smiled with pleasure. Tang Xingye used to be wary of gifts from others, unable to truly integrate into the group. Now, he could accept them calmly. This subtle change brought an indescribable satisfaction to Ji Chen’s heart.

However, this satisfaction didn’t last long. Without warning, Tang Xingye swung a backhand punch. The cold metal flashed with a chilly light. Ji Chen reacted quickly, dodging swiftly.

“I thought you were going to turn on the shock.” Ji Chen’s tone was relaxed, as if what he just encountered wasn’t an attack, but an interesting joke.

Tang Xingye didn’t really like seeing bloody scenes. This kind of electric threat that left no marks fit his subtle baseline perfectly.

Current behavior made it hard to guess what Tang Xingye was thinking.

Tang Xingye retracted his fist. He hadn’t intended to kill, just to teach Ji Chen a small lesson for his touchy-feely offense earlier.

“If I turned on the shock,” Tang Xingye said calmly, “wouldn’t that satisfy you?”

A faint voice, stating a fact.

Ji Chen chuckled low. He’d been figured out.

“Go back and rest, it’s late.” Tang Xingye pointed to the door. “Go out through the front door.”

Tang Xingye looked very well-behaved and cute when asleep. Strands of hair fell across his face, unconsciously rubbing against the pillow. That innocent and weak temperament became increasingly obvious, effortlessly.

Lin Mo’s cold brows softened. A deeply hidden, morbid obsession surfaced in his eyes. His sticky and fervent gaze swept over the beautiful face, the tip of the nose, the lips.

So good, Baby.

You clearly approached me on your own initiative, so why won’t you trust me more?

Always looking at those disgusting wild dogs.

It doesn’t matter. Now there are only the two of us in the room, no one else.

Reason told Lin Mo that he should put the bread and milk on the table and leave.

But the sweet, cold fragrance permeating the air became richer, wisps of it seemingly evaporating from Tang Xingye’s snow-white skin that was slightly dewy with sweat, nailing him firmly to the spot.

He sat by the bed as if possessed. The next second, a cold, hard object pressed against him, and all romantic atmosphere vanished instantly.

Lin Mo froze, meeting Tang Xingye’s vigilant eyes.

Tang Xingye had heard movement in his hazy sleep and sensed someone else in the room. The moonlight was blocked, and the light around was dim; he couldn’t see the visitor clearly.

Was it that pervert?

He waited for the other to approach, pulled the electric knuckles from under the pillow, pressed them against the intruder, and threatened, “Don’t move.”

Lin Mo stiffened for a moment. Reason quickly allowed him to judge the current situation, and he raised his hands very cooperatively. “It’s me.”

“Where did you come from?”

Tang Xingye recognized the voice. He turned over and sat up but didn’t retract the knuckles. “Why did you come?”

When Lin Mo confirmed Tang Xingye’s sprained ankle earlier, he hadn’t been carrying a weapon. It could only have been delivered by someone after he left.

Which dog was it this time?

Lin Mo’s eyes suddenly sank. His voice was rippleless, slowing down a bit as he pointed to the paper bag on the table. “Want some bread?”

“…”

If he wasn’t sure his cover hadn’t been blown, Lin Mo would have thought Tang Xingye had discovered the truth and wanted to deal him a fatal blow.

The person harassing and secretly filming was the damn liar; what did it have to do with him, Lin Mo?

Was Tang Xingye taking his anger out on him right now? Suddenly finding him an eyesore too, feeling the urge to get rid of everyone together?

Tang Xingye was indeed unhappy.

His plan had been disrupted. He had told Lin Mo not to come, so why did he sneak over? Tang Xingye had already set himself as bait and arranged everything. The sprained ankle today was an accident that pushed the plan forward. He was waiting for the stalker to approach so he could eliminate the threat.

But Lin Mo’s appearance messed everything up.

A silence spread between the two.

“Is it because of that person?” Lin Mo’s pupils were pitch-black. He spoke abruptly, pointing out the problem sharply.

“You’ve been harassed by him all along, right?”

“Starting from a long time ago, that person has been sending you all kinds of text messages.”

Tang Xingye kept his snow-white face taut. The knuckles gripping the weapon turned white. The secret he couldn’t make public was unravelled so mercilessly by Lin Mo, spoken so bluntly. He felt embarrassed and guilty.

“Shut up.” His voice was cold, carrying a warning.

Lin Mo was astonishingly smart and keen. He had discovered the fact of the harassment long ago but kept it hidden. His warm concern became another form of coercion, making Tang Xingye feel suffocated.

Heavy guilt swept over him again. Tang Xingye raised his spikes, his voice cold. “Get out.”

“Take the knuckles away, I want to…”

“I won’t,” Tang Xingye interrupted him sharply. The anger of being exposed made him speak somewhat recklessly. “If you have the skill, come take it.”
