Chapter 20: Midnight Visitor
Ao Chen: “…”
Ao Chen said nothing; with a wave of his hand, Wang Ming felt himself become clean again.
Wang Ming: “…”
For the first time, I don’t want to get a divorce so badly, what should I do? A “dangerous” thought arose in Wang Ming’s mind.
“Thank you,” Wang Ming said sincerely.
“Does this… cause you trouble? It’s like…” Wang Ming pondered his words.
“It’s like it requires a martial arts expert to use a lifetime’s worth of skill,” Wang Ming gave an example.
Ao Chen: “…”
“No,” Ao Chen shook his head lightly.
“It’s a trivial matter,” Ao Chen said.
Can I get a membership card? Wang Ming muttered inwardly, wishing he could get this kind of cleaning service regularly.
But he still had some self-respect and didn’t voice his thoughts.
However, another thought struck him.
“So, you can instantly clean yourself using this method?” Wang Ming asked Ao Chen with intense curiosity.
“Yes,” Ao Chen nodded.
“Then why… do you still shower normally?” Wang Ming recalled their first meeting, his curiosity reaching a peak.
“It’s probably like how, even with convenient public transportation, some people still choose to jog to work,” Ao Chen said.
Wang Ming: “…”
What a master of rhetoric! Wang Ming mentally praised his earthly fiancé, thinking that if his teachers were this good at explaining things, he would have already graduated with a doctorate.
Just as Wang Ming was thinking this, Ao Chen’s expression suddenly changed.
“Go back to your room,” Ao Chen said sternly.
Wang Ming: “???”
Why does this sound so patriarchal? Wang Ming thought cautiously.
He was about to ask something when he saw his earthly fiancé striding towards him.
Wang Ming: “…”
Brother, let’s talk this over, Wang Ming pleaded inwardly.
Then he was lifted up by Ao Chen with one hand.
Wang Ming: “…”
Like a cat being lifted, Wang Ming curled up and was carried into his bedroom. Ao Chen gently put him down and stepped back.
“Stay here, don’t come out,” Ao Chen instructed sternly, and before Wang Ming could say anything, he closed the door and left.
Wang Ming: “…”
Following the usual trope, it seems the villain is about to appear, Wang Ming thought.
I, a mere mortal, can’t be of any help, Wang Ming thought self-deprecatingly. I only weigh a hundred pounds; even if I fight, I won’t be enough.
Wang Ming: “…”
Don’t be so pessimistic, Wang Ming told himself, feeling he was being too self-deprecating.
Wang Ming made his plans, then used his blanket technique.
He used the thick quilt he’d bought at the village market to make a nest and huddled inside like a quail, starting to tremble.
After trembling for a while, Wang Ming realized nothing happened.
Wang Ming: “…”
Am I giving those monsters too much credit? Don’t ordinary people deserve some respect? Wang Ming thought, feeling it was getting too hot under the blankets.
When I go to the city to work, I shouldn’t bring such a thick quilt. The city has pretty good heating, Wang Ming thought idly.
After a while, Wang Ming got too hot and jumped out of the blankets. He wasn’t afraid of magical attacks; he’d only trembled symbolically to show respect to Ao Chen.
Wang Ming got out of the blankets and heard a man’s voice outside the bedroom door.
“I heard your red thread has awakened, is that true?” the voice said.
Wang Ming: “…”
This voice was different from Ao Chen’s deep baritone; Wang Ming had been listening to his fiancé’s voice for days and could tell the difference.
Of course, it’s true, it’s truer than hazelnuts, Wang Ming muttered from behind the door.
Meanwhile, Ao Chen seemed to have said something that raised the visitor’s voice.
“Everyone says you live in this remote place to avoid trouble. Now that you can end the engagement, why not just cut the red thread?” The voice sounded condescending.
What do you mean “remote place”? Open your titanium alloy dog eyes and take a good look! We have heating here! Don’t look down on ordinary people, Wang Ming grumbled behind the door, not daring to confront the visitor directly, unsure of his chances.
While Wang Ming was trembling, he heard the increasingly irritating voice.
“Ao Chen, you know how I feel about you!”
Wang Ming: “…”
Wow, seriously? Interfering directly? An involuntary thought sprang into Wang Ming’s mind, and before he could react, he kicked open the door.
Wang Ming: “…”
Ao Chen: “…”
The uninvited guest: “…”
Once Wang Ming stepped out of his cramped bedroom, he saw a tall, handsome man, who looked like a male star, standing in the living room besides his earthly fiancé.
Wang Ming: “…”
What’s so great about him? Wang Ming thought. He’s just taller, better-looking, and richer?
Wang Ming: “…”
He has no right to look down on others! After giving the other person a boost while diminishing himself, Wang Ming thought of a righteous statement.
“Ao Chen, don’t tell me this is your red thread partner…” The uninvited guest glanced at Wang Ming, then looked away as if he’d seen trash, and asked Ao Chen.
Wang Ming: “…”
This is my face, not happy with it? Wang Ming thought.
“Get out,” Ao Chen didn’t give him another glance, stating simply.
Wang Ming: “…”
The uninvited guest: “…”
Wang Ming pointed at himself, looking at Ao Chen in confusion.
Ao Chen: “…”
“Not you,” Ao Chen said impassively.
Wang Ming gave a nervous smile and looked at the uninvited guest who had clearly been dismissed.
The uninvited guest: “…”
“It shouldn’t be me who should leave,” The uninvited guest didn’t want to fall out with Ao Chen and shifted his anger towards Wang Ming, his condescending contempt undisguised.
“Hey, guess what? Out of all of us, you’re the one who should leave!”
Wang Ming said confidently, producing a rental agreement from the sofa and waving it in the guest’s face, acting like he was holding a multi-million dollar deal.
“I rented this apartment, and this bathroom has always been ours. What’s your legal basis for staying here…?” Wang Ming asked, waving the contract.
The uninvited guest: “…”
Ao Chen: “…”
The uninvited guest looked at Wang Ming with a cold, icy gaze, as if he were looking at a corpse.
Wang Ming shuddered, then his vision blurred, as if the guest was rapidly approaching.
Then, his vision blurred again, and Ao Chen was protecting him from behind.
Wang Ming: “…”
Have I been gaming too much lately? Wang Ming thought, rubbing his eyes.
“Ao Chen, are you really going to protect this thing?” The uninvited guest said sadly.
“He’s not protecting me, is he protecting you?” Wang Ming poked his head out from behind Ao Chen.
The uninvited guest: “…”
“This is between us, does it concern you?!” The uninvited guest shouted.
“As long as the red thread isn’t cut, I have the right to,” Wang Ming said fearlessly, acting like a corgi arguing with another dog in a human’s arms.
“Besides the red thread, what other relationship do you have with him? Do you know how close we are?” The uninvited guest sneered, looking at Wang Ming with disdain and arrogance.
“What’s between us is fate; that’s none of your business, but your relationship… doesn’t seem very deep.” Wang Ming said unconcernedly.
The uninvited guest: “…”
“You don’t understand anything?!” the uninvited guest said.
“Well, if I had a close friend, I wouldn’t show up at their house in the middle of the night,” Wang Ming shrugged.
“And I definitely wouldn’t insult their family member to their face,” Wang Ming continued his attack.
“But you don’t care; you only care about yourself. Unlike me, I only care about my husband.”
