The Foolish Bookworm of the Aristocratic Boys’ School chapter 37.1

Chapter 37: You’re Dating Shi Ye? Part 1

Ripples surged on the lake surface, splashing loudly, accompanied by Lin Qizheng’s screams: “I can’t swim, I can’t sw—”

Wen Rong quickly realized he should save them.

It was pitch black around him; he couldn’t even see his fingers when he reached out. He struggled to turn on his phone flashlight. “Wait, I’ll find something—”

Before he finished speaking, his body was suddenly suspended in the air. He was spun half a circle, his heel kicking something hard.

Wen Rong: “?”

Hot breath blew onto the top of his head. “They won’t die. There’s a net under the lake.”

“I didn’t…”

He didn’t plan to jump, just wanted to find something to pull them up.

Wen Rong’s feet flailed in the air twice before he finally realized he was being “controlled” by Shi Ye.

Ever since he told him not to grab his neck, he seemed to have started grabbing his waist. Wen Rong didn’t know if Shi Ye had some strange fetish for grabbing people.

Knowing he couldn’t control Shi Ye, he chose to raise his phone and sweep the light across the lake. Sure enough, the three were standing in the lake. The water level only reached their thighs; there was no life-threatening danger.

He breathed a complete sigh of relief.

Inhaling, he felt his stomach being pressed so hard he could barely move. He spoke with difficulty, “Can you put me down first? It’s a bit uncomfortable.”

“…”

Wen Rong dropped straight down. His toes touched the ground, but his heel stepped on something soft, nearly making him pitch forward. He was pulled upright by his collar.

“Can’t stand steady?”

It’s because you let go directly that I stepped on your foot and lost my balance.

Feeling a bit stifled but not knowing how to refute, he silently closed his mouth.

In the lake, Zhang Lin slapped the back of Lin Qizheng’s head.

“We agreed I’d control the President and you’d kneel down to beg him not to commit suicide. Turns out you brat wanted to murder two of your own seniors?”

Lin Qizheng: “It wasn’t me! Blame that hole. It was too dark, I didn’t see it. I tripped when preparing to kneel.”

“You’re still arguing! Ouch, my old waist is killing me from the impact.”

“Shut up.” Zhang Jincheng’s sudden voice made the two shut their mouths.

Wen Rong didn’t dare speak either. Holding the phone in one hand to light up the shore, he extended the other to Zhang Jincheng. “Senior, I’ll pull you up.”

Zhang Jincheng didn’t pull Wen Rong. He pressed his hands on the grass and jumped up himself.

“Oh my, Youngest is so good. Come, come, come, give me a hand, Youngest.”

Wen Rong extended his hand to Zhang Lin behind him. His palm was wet, and when both hands clasped, Wen Rong felt water droplets seeping into his sleeves.

Suddenly, a strong force pulled Wen Rong forward.

Splash.

“Hahahahaha.”

The sound of water and laughter rang out together.

The lake water, not too cold, washed over his head. Wen Rong choked, his knees went weak, and he almost sank to the bottom. In his desperation, he raised his phone as high as he could. Fortunately, two hands quickly supported him. The phone was safe, and so was he.

“Hahahaha, wasn’t that refreshing?”

“Our club has to be neat and complete together.”

Wen Rong was stunned first, then briefly angry. Hearing the laughter, however, he inexplicably felt a sense of “survival after disaster.” Arson, suicide… all those things were thrown to the back of his mind at this moment.

He thought thankfully, It’s so good that everyone can still play around.

“Get up.” Until a cold voice floated from the shore.

Shi Ye was already extremely tall. Standing on the bank, which was half a body higher than them, he looked down like a giant.

The night wind blew, and Wen Rong shivered even though he didn’t feel cold.

Stepping on the spongy net, he walked with difficulty to the shore. Just as his hand touched the grass, his arm was lifted upward, and his entire person was “pulled” out of the water.

So strong.

Wen Rong had only this thought.

Lin Qizheng shouted from behind, “Hey! Brother Shi, me too, give me a hand.”

A light, not too blinding, shone from the distance. Hurried footsteps approached the shore.

The butler held a flashlight and asked anxiously, “Young Master, are you alright?”

Shi Ye: “Pull them out.”

Two servants followed behind the butler. Hearing the arrangement, they went to the bank and pulled Zhang Lin out of the water.

Lin Qizheng declined help, claiming a real man should climb up himself. He pressed his hands on the lawn and jumped twice without success, then awkwardly reached out to the servant. “Sorry, I was arrogant just now.”

Wen Rong couldn’t help laughing. His arm suddenly hurt, and he realized Shi Ye was still grabbing him.

“Um…”

Shi Ye dragged him to the roadside and stuffed him back into the car. Before he could finish speaking, Vroom— the wind blocked his mouth.

Shi Ye’s villa was right in front of them.

Without the usual liveliness, the floor-to-ceiling windows on the first floor were empty, with only the figures of a few servants passing by.

The butler’s car returned quickly too. Lin Qizheng jumped out of the car, shouting, “Having land is so free!”

Wen Rong tilted his head to ponder the reason for that emotion, only to be yanked by Shi Ye again, dragged straight up the stairs upon entering the door.

Wen Rong: “???”

He realized belatedly: Isn’t Shi Ye being a bit too rude? Why is he dragging me around like this and not letting me talk to the seniors?

Click.

He was thrown into a room.

The door closed.

Wen Rong stared wide-eyed at the door panel. Half a second later, his brain calculated the result, and his doubtful eyes filled with surprise. “Brother, Brother, Shi Ye wants to imprison me! Did I trigger a mission?”

[…] Host, don’t be so excited.

“What do I have to do to complete the mission this time? It won’t be getting beaten again, right? No, no, Shi Ye hits very hard. I estimate I’d have to lie in bed for a long time. I still have to study and do homework.”

[Host, there is no mission.]

“…”

Wen Rong was silent for a moment.

“Is he not angry enough?”

[…]

The System didn’t answer, so Wen Rong assumed he guessed right. Momentarily blinded by points, he unlocked the door and poked his head out, shouting without thinking: “Um…”

Shi Ye returned holding something white, his brows knitted tight. “What did you come out for?”

The lesson said that downturned corners of the mouth and tightly knitted brows meant anger.

But why hadn’t the mission triggered yet?

Wen Rong recalled how Shi Ye looked when he was angry before and suddenly realized that besides the first day of school, Shi Ye hadn’t lost his temper with him since—instead, there were many strange behaviors.

Wen Rong’s conscience returned.

Should I not make him angry?

Being angry is actually very uncomfortable.

Shi Ye approached, lowering his eyelids. “Why are you dazing out? The lake water is filthy, wash it off quickly.”

So he brought me in here to let me shower.

Feeling Shi Ye’s concern, Wen Rong guiltily took the white thing from Shi Ye’s hand.

Soft, warm, exactly the same as the bathrobe in Wen Rong’s bathroom.

“Thank you.”

Thud, a box fell to the floor.

“Sorry, didn’t notice.”

Wen Rong squatted down, but Shi Ye picked it up first and threw it on top of the bathrobe.

Wen Rong felt the box sliding down again and hurriedly grabbed it.

An unopened box with a very fit naked man printed on the cover… he finally recognized it as underwear.

Wen Rong subconsciously looked at the size on the box and said bluntly, “A bit big.”

Shi Ye stiffened all over.

“I probably can’t wear this size. Don’t open it; it’ll be a waste.”

“…”

“?”

Wen Rong looked up in confusion, seeing Shi Ye blocking the lower half of his face with one hand, eyes lowered, gaze directed at the floor.

He tried calling him, “Um…”

Shi Ye said hoarsely, “You wash first. I’ll find you something else.”

“No need, no need. Are my seniors waiting in line for me?”

“They are washing downstairs.”

Wen Rong knew he and the seniors had caused trouble for Shi Ye, so he hurriedly bowed. “Thank you.”

Shi Ye held the railing and went downstairs without looking back, his footsteps unsteady and chaotic.

Ten Minutes Later

Wen Rong went downstairs wearing the oversized bathrobe, feeling wonder. This villa must be the most memorable building since his enrollment; every visit seemed to come with special memories.

The butler brought a glass of water. Wen Rong thanked him and took a sip, shuddering all over.

It was the water that cleared his head last time, extremely sour.

Is it specially used to torture me, or does Shi Ye drink this kind of water every day?

If he drinks it every day, that’s too weird, right?
