Chapter 40: I Don’t Think I Like You
[Leon~~~ I’m going to kill you~~]
Leon replied with a voice message: “No need for that.”
[Stealing my wife is a vendetta I can’t share the sky with. That was the limited edition Mi Lulu I used 36 computers to snatch.]
Leon: “…”
He parked the car at the entrance of the research institute, noticing another car parked nearby that didn’t belong there. He got out and knocked on the window.
No response.
Leon leaned down to look inside and saw Wen Rong’s laptop bag.
Went inside?
He looked back at the three-meter-high wall, frowning slightly.
The scientific research circle actually wasn’t that big, and Liangzi Lixue was a resounding figure in it.
Son of a famous physicist, he showed physics talent surpassing ordinary people from a young age.
At 13, Liangzi Lixue’s parents applied for Floriman Academy for him. The principal rejected it on the grounds that students must be 18. He then entered a famous university to study physics, graduated with a Ph.D. at 18, and applied for Floriman Academy again.
Liangzi Lixue still chose physics upon enrollment, but an accident happened during club recruitment—he saw cartoons.
It was hard to imagine a person seeing cartoons for the first time at 18 and childishly becoming “obsessed” with the upright walking animals inside, starting gene modification research from then on.
Having seen the finished products, Leon admitted Liangzi Lixue was a genius and confirmed he wasn’t normal.
Wonder how long Wen Rong needs to recover after seeing those things.
Leon took out his phone to message Wen Rong.
[Have you gone in?]
No reply.
He walked quickly to the gate, scanned his face to enter, passed through the corridor Liangzi Lixue built specifically to display test subjects, and walked toward the office at the end.
“No, no, this pose will show under the skirt.”
Liangzi Lixue’s voice came through the window.
“It’s okay, Senior. I have pants underneath.”
“Pants won’t do either! This is blasphemy.”
“Oh, then… is this okay?”
Liangzi Lixue screamed, “Who found the reference picture?! Can we be decent?”
Another voice besides Wen Rong’s sounded. “How is it indecent? This movement is Mi Lulu’s dance move.”
“It even captured his safety pants!”
“What can we do? Mi Lulu’s legs are tiny; our Youngest has two-meter legs.”
Roughly determining that the News Club group and Liangzi Lixue were inside, Leon raised his hand and knocked.
Liangzi Lixue asked warily, “Who?”
“Me, Leon.”
“Talk about test subjects later. I have no time today. Bye.”
“…” Leon was silent for a moment. “I came for Wen Rong.”
After a flurry of sounds inside the room, the door was pulled open flusteredly from the inside, and a pink head popped out.
A pink-flushed face suddenly zoomed in—pink eyes, slender nose bridge, crystal lips. Exquisite features as if an anime character broke through dimensions and suddenly appeared in front of him.
Leon was stunned until the scent of cosmetics rushed into his nose.
“Ah! Senior.”
The pink face retracted, opening the door wide, standing obediently by the door.
All hair was draped behind the back. The neck was slender, collarbones deep, connecting to a patch of fair skin.
Leon looked down at the limited edition figure he snatched, then up at the identical short skirt on the person. Two thin straps adorned with gauze lace, a fitted tube top, waistline distinct. Indenting from the arms, the skirt bloomed like a flower where it spread out, every petal sprinkled with glittering fragments.
Under the skirt, legs were snow-white. Blood gathered at the joints, revealing a vivid pink.
For a moment, Leon couldn’t distinguish which was the real Mi Lulu.
“Senior?”
It was Wen Rong’s voice.
Leon’s mind returned. “Why are you dressed like this?”
“I wanted to ask Senior Liang for some cocoons. He asked me to help… cosplay… just wear this for photos.”
Liangzi Lixue, standing next to Zhang Lin admiring the photos, nodded and gave a thumbs up. “Goddess is super accurate.”
Leon thought, The limited edition figure snatched with 36 computers is safe.
“Then you guys continue.”
Wen Rong returned to the white backdrop carefully and bumpily like a child just learning to walk.
Leon realized the high heels didn’t fit; the toe box showed the shape of curled toes.
He wanted to speak up to remind him, but realizing he shouldn’t interfere with Wen Rong’s business, he finally found a seat where he could see the whole shoot clearly.
Lin Qizheng handed the phone to Wen Rong. “For this one, kneel down, pull the straps a bit, look up.”
Wen Rong knelt clumsily on the spot. “Like this?”
“Don’t put your calves under your butt, separate them.”
“Oh, oh.”
Zhang Lin: “Don’t face my side, turn your back. Ouch, Senior, your reflector board sucks.”
Liangzi Lixue retorted, “Impossible, these are all high-end goods I collected.”
“High-end my ass. You got scammed, right?”
Amidst the noise, Wen Rong shifted his knees, turning slightly away from everyone. “Is this okay?”
The dress was a typical 2D princess dress, long in front and short in back.
Actually, the size was probably small too. Wen Rong barely squeezed in because he was too thin. It wasn’t obvious from the front, but from the back, it looked as if the dress had been pulled off. The reflector illuminated his delicate, fair back; his butterfly bones were distinct, creating a shallow shadow in the middle.
Wen Rong stood still for a few seconds, suddenly thought of something, and hooked both shoulder straps down to his arms. Consequently, the loose tube top became even looser, almost falling off.
Liangzi Lixue screamed, “Don’t pull the straps down!”
He turned back in confusion. “Isn’t it like this in the photo?”
Lin Qizheng was confused too. “Yeah.”
“I want to see decent cosplay, not borderline porn.”
Lin Qizheng, the straight man, was speechless. “You like this kind of stuff and have the nerve to dislike borderline porn?”
Liangzi Lixue raged. “Mi Lulu is not borderline porn! Goddess, put the straps back up quickly, quickly.”
“Oh, oh.” Wen Rong dazedly pulled the straps back up.
“Right, right, right, just like that. Healthy!”
Zhang Lin took photos from different angles, thinking Youngest really suits wearing my skirts while vowing to take peerlessly beautiful photos of him.
Suddenly, a hand pushed him aside and pulled Wen Rong up from the ground. “That’s enough. Take a photo with Senior Liang and let’s go.”
Liangzi Lixue looked intoxicated. “…Photo together?”
“Mm.”
He walked unsteadily to Wen Rong’s side, standing stiffly upright like taking a graduation photo, hands by his sides.
Without pose guidance, Wen Rong didn’t know what to do and held up a peace sign.
Leon instructed Zhang Lin: “Shoot.”
Click.
Zhang Lin took the photo, and Leon immediately pulled Wen Rong towards the exit.
Liangzi Lixue suddenly snapped back to reality. “Done?”
Zhang Lin put down the camera. “Didn’t we say we’d leave after the group photo?”
Liangzi Lixue rushed out to chase. “Leon, let go of my Goddess.”
Zhang Lin flipped through the photos in the camera, still immersed in the joy of taking beautiful shots. Lin Qizheng’s voice drifted in and out of his ears.
“Is the gossip news I wrote coming true? Why do I feel Senior Leon also…”
“Also that our Youngest.”
“Our Youngest’s charm is huge!”
“Holy sh*t, is he and Zhou Xie real too?”
“Leon, you aren’t allowed to grab my Goddess’s hand.”
“Enough, Senior. Here is the limited edition Mi Lulu. Take it back and play with it yourself. Be good.”
“I don’t want it!”
…
The argument lasted for nearly ten minutes, finally ending when Wen Rong said he was hungry.
Wen Rong changed out of Liangzi Lixue’s private collection Mi Lulu dress and obtained all of Liangzi Lixue’s possessions—cocoons.
When the three News Club members and Leon walked out of the institute, Liangzi Lixue clung to the door howling pitifully, “Goddess—do you still want cocoons in the future? Goddess—I’ll go raise them now.”
Leon raised a hand in a “go back” gesture. “Raise them. We’ll call you when needed.”
“Goddess—will you wear Mi Lulu again? I’ll buy other dresses.”
Before Wen Rong could answer, Liangzi Lixue took his silence as consent and closed the door elatedly, probably going to raise silkworms.
Leon handed all the cocoons in Wen Rong’s hands to Lin Qizheng and Zhang Lin. “I have something to discuss with him alone.”
Wen Rong hurriedly said, “Senior, we have a club dinner tonight.”
Leon paused. “Just a small matter, won’t take long. Take my car back to the Administration Building.”
Lin Qizheng glanced at Leon’s hand tightly holding Wen Rong’s and quickly signaled Zhang Lin.
Zhang Lin understood instantly. “Okay, okay. No rush, safety first.”
Wen Rong tilted his head, his body pulled into the car by Leon before his brain could process.
Click, the seatbelt pinned him firmly to the seat. Bam, the door closed.
Leon got in the car, waited for Zhang Lin’s car to drive away for a few minutes, then started the car slowly.
Time passed unexpectedly fast. The sun was overhead when they entered; now, not a trace of sunlight remained.
Streetlights flashed past the roof. Leon’s face alternated between shadow and light.
After minutes of silence, Wen Rong couldn’t help asking, “Senior, did you need me for something?”
“You don’t seem to dislike Senior Liang.”
Wen Rong thought for a moment and answered honestly, “Seems I don’t.”
“Why? Didn’t you dislike those people on the forum calling you ‘wifey’?”
“He called me Goddess… although I told him I’m a boy, but somehow…”
Wen Rong couldn’t explain clearly why, but he truly didn’t dislike Senior Liang in his heart.
“Somehow what?”
“Maybe because Goddess and Wifey are different.”
“The meaning they represent is the same. He likes you.”
Like?
Wen Rong lowered his head in contemplation.
Why is it all ‘like’, but the feeling with Senior Liang is very different?
Zhao Zeryang and those Tennis Club people seemed to like him too, but Wen Rong felt disgusted every time he talked to them.
Taking a photo with Senior Liang just now, Wen Rong didn’t feel annoyed.
Maybe because Senior Liang’s expression really said “admiration”? Maybe Senior Liang didn’t drag or pull him? Maybe Senior Liang gave lots of cocoons?
Wen Rong thought very hard, his brows furrowing into a small mountain.
Leon didn’t speak either. The car speed was slow, nearly 20 km/h. Light shone on his face more and more. He lowered the window, wind blowing gently against his cheek.
“Senior, I seem not to dislike him liking me. Do I like him too?”
Leon smirked. “Thought for so long just to reach this conclusion?”
Wen Rong: “Um…”
Leon parked the car on the roadside, exactly between two streetlights, so not much light penetrated from front or back.
“Do you know the definition of ‘like’?”
Wen Rong shook his head honestly.
“It means you want to make him happy, want to protect him, and want him to live better.”
“Then I like Senior Lin Qizheng, Senior Zhang Lin, and our President.”
Leon pondered for a few seconds, realizing Wen Rong’s thinking seemed stuck in first grade, knowing only friendship, not love.
He defined the love shown on the forum as “perverted” and had no concept of the “love” shown by Liangzi Lixue.
“Do you not like me?”
“What?”
Leon restarted the car. “You didn’t seem to mention me just now.”
Wen Rong shuddered all over, probably recalling the conversation just now and realizing he really hadn’t mentioned Leon, this “friend.” His lips parted slightly then closed. He lowered his head in embarrassment, feeling very awkward, not knowing what to do.
Leon, born with a bit of a mean streak, glanced at him deliberately and asked wickedly, “What’s wrong? So you don’t like me?”
Wen Rong was silent for a few seconds, glancing at him quietly and carefully. Meeting his gaze inadvertently, he quickly turned his face toward the window.
“Why aren’t you talking?”
The window was scratched twice. Wen Rong shook his head without answering.
Leon laughed. “Senior will be very sad if you act like this.”
“Senior, do you like me?”
Leon’s hand suddenly slipped. “Can’t you tell I like you?”
“…”
In the heavy silence, a sob was heard.
Screech—
The wheels swerved on the road. Leon slammed the brakes.
Wen Rong lunged forward due to inertia, quickly sat back, covered his face guiltily, and choked out, “I’m sorry, Senior. You treat me especially well, better than the Presidents, but I don’t think I like you.”
