Meeting Xie Qiangās gaze, Sen Ji paused for a moment. Just as he was about to explain, a white dress fluttered before his eyes.
Jiang Qingwan, who had been standing at the door, strode over to Xie Qiang.
“Your Highness, please purify Commander Sen!”

She carried an aura of fearlessness. Her phoenix eyes were narrow yet spirited as she looked directly at Xie Qiang. “Yesterday, Commander Sen cleared the Zerg from the Logistics Department. His mania index is likely bordering on 90%. I know Your Highness has never liked Sentinels, but for the safety of the Empire, please purify Commander Sen!”
Xie Qiang was utterly confused. She looked at Sen Ji and asked with her eyes: Didn’t I purify you? Didn’t you tell her?
Sen Ji rubbed the space between his brows and stepped forward to explain, “Consultant Jiang, I already said yesterday that the Princess has purified me.”
“Commander Sen, you don’t need to lie for me.” Jiang Qingwan shook her head and looked at him seriously. “Her Highness dislikes you; she even said sheād rather marry a Zerg than purify you. This is common knowledge.”
“Even though I know the odds are low, I still hope to advocate for you.” Having said that, she turned back to Xie Qiang. Her voice was gentle but allowed no room for doubt. “Your Highness, Commander Sen has sacrificed so much for the Empire. Can you truly bear to see him die of mania?”
Sen Ji let out a silent sigh and shook his head at Xie Qiang.
Xie Qiang finally understood. Sen Ji had already explained, but Jiang Qingwan simply didn’t believe him. She even thought Sen Ji was lying to save face.
Beside them, Hong Que rolled his eyes, his tone disdainful. “He’s so spineless; if he dies, he dies.”
He had never seen a Sentinel more spineless than Sen Ji. His fiancƩ was playing those perverted games in the war zone under his jurisdiction, yet he could tolerate and allow it.
In any case, Hong Que couldn’t stand it.
Jiang Qingwan gave Hong Que a look of disapproval, her expression gentle yet firm. “Lord Inspector, please mind your words! A Sentinel may die on the front lines, but no Sentinel should be sacrificed in the rear because they couldn’t receive timely purification!”
Hong Que choked on his words, then looked away and muttered, “I was just saying.”
Jiang Qingwan withdrew her gaze and looked at Xie Qiang again. “Your Highness, as long as you are willing to purify Commander Sen, I will do whatever you ask.”
She thought for a moment and added, “I will revoke the work quotas I issue to Your Highness every day. Is that acceptable?”
Xie Qiang gave a soft “hmm.” “But, I have already purified Commander Sen.”
Jiang Qingwanās eyes immediately filled with disappointment. “Your Highness!”
Xie Qiang lowered her head.
Although Jiang Qingwan only said two words, Xie Qiang felt the tone was saying: Don’t I know exactly what kind of person you are?
It seemed Jiang Qingwan would never believe her.
Xie Qiang shook her head, not wishing to argue further. “Believe what you want. If thereās nothing else, please leave my office.”
At this point, Sen Ji also spoke up. “Consultant Jiang, there’s no need for further trouble. This is a matter between Her Highness and me.”
“No.” Jiang Qingwan shook her head, looking firmly at Sen Ji. “Since Commander Sen insists on shielding Her Highness, we will go to the Testing Room to check your mania levels.”
“Your Highness will come as well, yes?” she turned to Xie Qiang. “That way, we will know if you truly purified Commander Sen.”
Hong Que finally gave Jiang Qingwan a proper look.

Sen Ji massaged his temples. Unable to persuade Jiang Qingwan, he could only look at Xie Qiang. “Xie Qiang… perhaps you should go.”
Xie Qiang gripped her pen tightly. She stared directly at Sen Ji until he lowered his eyes and stopped looking at her. Then, her face turned wooden as she stood up and walked toward the office door.
As she passed in front of Sen Ji, she looked up at the tall man. Disappointment swirled in her bright eyes.
“Just call me Your Highness, Commander Sen.”
Sen Ji shuddered.
He knew Xie Qiang was blaming him for making her personally prove the purification rather than forcibly taking away the unreasonable Jiang Qingwan.
She was very disappointed in his choice to side with Jiang Qingwan.
Clenching his fists, Sen Ji wanted to explain but found no words. It wasn’t until they reached the door of the Testing Room that he was suddenly startled by his own abnormal behavior.
He didn’t need to reconcile with Xie Qiang; why was he so anxious to explain to her just because he saw she was unhappy?
Inside the Testing Room, Jiang Qingwan was at the front desk communicating with the reception Guide.

“Consultant Jiang, why are you at the Testing Room? Are you feeling unwell?”
“The Zerg attacked the Logistics Department yesterday. You weren’t injured, were you?”
“Itās thanks to you that we can receive purification and don’t have to worry about going manic on the battlefield. You must take care of your health!”
Jiang Qingwan smiled slightly. “Rest assured, Commander Sen arrived very timely yesterday. The Zerg were cleared, and I wasn’t hurt.”
“Thatās good. Itās a pity we couldn’t leave our posts; we were worried for nothing.”
“I saw Commander Sen leaving the front line in a hurry yesterday. I suppose it was to save you.”
“Yeah, who in the whole war zone doesn’t know? Commander Sen treats you the most specially. He’s stern with all Guides, except when he’s with you.”
“Compared to being betrothed to that perverted Princess, he surely wishes you were the one who could purify him, Consultant Jiang.”
Xie Qiang entered the Testing Room just in time to hear these words.
She glanced at Sen Ji.
Before Sen Ji could react, he saw Xie Qiang look away expressionlessly and continue walking into the room.
He pressed his lips together. When he turned, his gaze swept sharply over the Sentinels before he walked to Jiang Qingwanās side.
The Sentinels were surprised to see him. “Commander Sen, you came too?”
“We were just talking about you. Itās thanks to you protecting Consultant Jiang yesterday that nothing happened to her.”
“Yes, Consultant Jiang is the lucky star of us Sentinels. You must protect her well!”
The Sentinels were joking around. Beside them, Jiang Qingwan shook her head helplessly. “Don’t say such things. Commander Sen isn’t someone who acts on personal feelings. He left the front line to clear the Zerg in the Logistics Department to protect all the Guides.”
“Oh~ personal feelings~”
The Sentinels looked at the two with knowing expressions.
Sen Jiās brow furrowed.
He spoke. “The first law of the Empire: under any circumstances, the safety of the S-class Guide must be prioritized.”
The man’s voice was frigid. “I did it to protect Her Highness.”
