Chapter 28: I Really Want Tomorrow to Come Quickly, Your Highness.
Xie Qiang sniffled, her eye rims and nose tip red. “You went to get this? Why did it take so long?”
Mo Yin didn’t speak. He stared straight at the girl’s red, crying eyes, wondering what he was thinking. After a long while, his gaze shifted slightly. “Eat.”
“Pfft, why are you still making me eat at a time like this.” Xie Qiang smiled through her tears. “It’s hot? At this hour, shouldn’t the chef have gotten off work long ago?”
Mo Yin glanced at her, then quickly looked away. “Mm.”
Just a hum, explaining nothing. Xie Qiang didn’t have the energy to ask further. She took a warm dried fish flatbread out of the packaging bag and stuffed it into her mouth.
Unlike the usual thin oily flour taste, this dried fish flatbread was unexpectedly delicious. The crust was golden and crispy just right, the inside soft and sweet. A warm egg and milk fragrance spread between her lips, dispelling her fear.
Her body gradually warmed up. Xie Qiang bit the dried fish flatbread, tears falling down again.
Her nose soured. “Mo Yin, don’t leave me alone next time, okay?”
The black-clad youth turned back to stare at her. His palm was wrapped in a three-fingered black leather glove, leaving only two slender, pale fingers exposed, which caught the tears falling from the girl. Scalded, they shrank back slightly.
He raised his hand and licked it. The taste was bitter and astringent.
“Mm.”
The girl, having received the promise, fell into a deep sleep holding the steaming flatbread, her exquisite brows furrowed tightly, sleeping extremely unsteadily.
Mo Yin carried her to the bed, then turned on his optical computer and sent a message to Hong Que.
Mo Yin: [Assassination, failed. Jiu, did not enter.]
After sending the message, he returned to the living room. Holding the assassin’s corpse with one hand, he threw it into the bathtub with a “clatter.”
Then he knelt on the floor, wiping the bloodstains off the floor bit by bit.
After cleaning everything, he walked to the corridor outside the door. His emotionless gaze fell not far away, on the silver-haired youth leaning lazily against the wall.
Hong Que arrived late. He came up and grabbed Cang Jiu by the collar in a rage. “You f*cking just stood outside and watched?”
“Don’t be so rude.” Cang Jiu raised his hand and tapped his fist, smiling breezily. “Isn’t she fine?”
“Only because she is fine did I not punch you into the wall!” Hong Que flung away the collar in his hand ruthlessly, his voice full of disgust.
“What, you are very worried about her?” Cang Jiu adjusted his collar slowly, raising an eyebrow in surprise. “Didn’t you despise her?”
“None of your business!” Hong Que said with a cold face, turning to look at Mo Yin. ” was she scared bad?”
Mo Yin thought of the trembling girl in his arms and nodded.
“Tsk!” Hong Que scratched his hair irritably. “Seriously, does he not know Xie Qiang has you, an S-class Sentinel, protecting her? Why send someone to assassinate in vain? Isn’t he afraid of leaving traces?”
Hearing this, Mo Yin paused slightly, his gaze shifting aside.
Cang Jiu burst out laughing, leaning forward. “Oh~ So Her Highness the Princess’s personal guard was negligent in his duty~”
Hong Que immediately turned to look at Mo Yin, eyes widening. “You weren’t guarding by her side?”
“You didn’t know? Our Princess’s guard dragged the chef to the kitchen in the middle of the night, making him cook a dozen portions of dried fish flatbreads, and grabbed an innocent Guide to pick out the most delicious one.”
Cang Jiu bent over, slapping his thigh, laughing until tears came out. “Looks like a block of wood, didn’t expect him to be so thoughtful!”
Hong Que was also extremely surprised, unable to imagine his usually emotionally scarce brother having such a meticulous side.
Wait.
He glared at Cang Jiu. “You knew early on, but still watched helplessly as the assassin entered the room to kill Xie Qiang?”
Cang Jiu wiped away a tear of laughter with his index finger, straightened up, and spread his hands. “I meant well too. Our Highness has such a poor sense of crisis; she needs to realize her situation.”
He snapped his fingers, an evil smile rippling across his exquisite, beautiful face. “How about peeling off the skin of that assassin’s corpse and hanging it in the cafeteria to let our Highness remember this lesson well, and casually serve as a warning to passing A-class Sentinels?”
“Are you a f*cking pervert?” A chill ran through Hong Que. “Absolutely not! If she gets scared and doesn’t dare to purify A-class Sentinels anymore, what then?”
“As long as she is willing to purify us, isn’t that enough?”
The silver-haired youth chuckled, a ghostly dark light flashing in his eyes. “Mere A-class Sentinels, are they worthy of touching an S-class Guide?”
“But…” Hong Que frowned tightly.
She wanted to prove to him with joy that she had changed, that she was no longer the fierce, spicy, and irritable Princess, but a Guide who could think for Sentinels.
How sad would she be if she had to give up because of this?
“I’ll think about it again.” Hong Que finally chose to disagree. “I will report this matter to His Majesty and let him manage the First Prince.”
“Stupid bird.”
Cang Jiu sneered.
Did he really think His Majesty didn’t know about this?
“Use your brain more.” The silver-haired youth straightened up from the wall, waved his hand lazily, and left the two with a departing figure. “Leaving.”
Things are getting more and more interesting.
You don’t care about the backstabbing of B-class Sentinels, you remain indifferent when credit is stolen. Then, how will you deal with the hate from A-class Sentinels that can never be dispelled?
I really want tomorrow to come quickly, Your Highness.
Before leaving, Hong Que looked at Mo Yin, hesitant to speak.
Mo Yin looked back quietly. After a long time, he spoke. “Speak.”
Hong Que scratched his hair. “What do you think about us supporting the First Prince to take the throne?”
Mo Yin glanced at him and turned to go back into the room.
Hong Que quickly followed, muttering, “I don’t think the First Prince fits that position either. I just feel at least he is better than Xie Qiang. After all, Xie Qiang didn’t even attend a single class of the heir curriculum back then…”
Mo Yin turned a deaf ear. After entering the room, he found a sheet, wrapped up the assassin’s corpse in the bathtub, then stuffed it all into Hong Que’s arms and began scrubbing.
Hong Que: …
He really is something. Why ask this dumb brother such a question?
“Forget it, you seem to fancy Xie Qiang more, so let’s support her.” Hong Que clamped the bundle of corpse with his large arm, muttering, “By the way, pay attention usually, don’t be too good to Xie Qiang. We are empathic twins; what if she misunderstands that you treat her well because you are influenced by my emotions and thinks I like her?”
He raised his hand and rubbed his nose, his tone somewhat smug. “I am not that easy to chase.”
Mo Yin: …
Muttering, what is he saying.
So in the way.
Mo Yin raised his hand to push away this person who only took up space and didn’t work, continuing to scrub the bloodstains in the bathtub.
Smell of blood affects appetite.
Cannot exist.
