Chapter 33: We Do Not Accept Such an Explanation!
Is it the so-called “compensation” again?
Sen Ji lowered his eyelids, feeling a heavy and stuffy sensation in his heart, like a mass of cotton soaked in ice water pressing down on him.
She is always like this, never asking if he wants it, just stuffing it all over, putting him in a dilemma where he can neither fully forgive nor cruelly push her away, suffering repeatedly.
Xie Qiang had no idea what waves Hong Queās words had stirred in the heart of the man behind her.
She looked up and glanced at Hong Que, then turned her face away, a soft “hmph” escaping her nose. “Hmph!”
She doesn’t want to talk to liars!
Hong Que was so angry he wanted to rub her head to see if it was filled with paste. “Xie Qiang, don’t be ungrateful. I’m doing this for your own good! Letting Sen Ji suppress them with force means the A-class Sentinels’ anger will only be directed at him!”
“Once you show your face, all the spearheads will be aimed at you! Idiot!”
“Oh.” Xie Qiang crossed her arms and tilted her head, her small face still turned to the side, snorting softly. “At least an idiot dares to admit their mistakes. Inspector, do you dare to admit you lied to me this morning?”
“That was…” Hong Que was choked speechless. After a long while, he muttered, “Wasn’t it all for you…”
“Commander Sen, ignore him, let’s go!” Xie Qiang patted the armrest of the sofa chair, not wanting to pay attention to him anymore.
Sen Ji glanced at Hong Queās flushed face and pushed the sofa chair toward the conference table. Behind them, Hong Que scratched his hair, finally clicked his tongue, said nothing more, and followed the two straight away.
Arriving at the conference table, Xie Qiang saw an unexpected personāJiang Qingwan.
Seeing Xie Qiang, Jiang Qingwan stood up slightly. “Your Highness.”
“Mm.” Xie Qiang nodded, her eyes a bit puzzled. “Why is Guide Jiang here too?”
“Tactical Officer Cang called me here.” Jiang Qingwan smiled faintly, looking up at the silver-haired youth leaning against the wall. “He said it would be better for me to make an appearance in such a scene.”
Xie Qiang turned to look at Cang Jiu, who happened to open his eyes, tilted his head, and flashed a brilliant smile at her.
He mouthed silently: Your Highness~
Xie Qiang turned back expressionlessly.
This person’s words are even less trustworthy.
As for one more…
Xie Qiang watched Mo Yin place the lunch boxes from his arms onto the table. His slender fingers pressed on both sides of the lunch box, pushing it toward her.
Those narrow, dark golden wolf eyes stared straight at her face. From head to toe, even his hair seemed to be saying: Eat.
Xie Qiang pushed the lunch box to the other side, her small face tense as she looked ahead, neither speaking nor looking at Mo Yin.
This was the first time she refused to eat. Mo Yinās fingers shrank back helplessly. He looked at the lunch box, then at Xie Qiang, vaguely sensing that she seemed angry.
Must be from hunger.
But why not eat?
Not tasty?
Mo Yin furrowed his brow. He stood up abruptly, stuffed the two lunch boxes back into his arms, turned around, and strode toward the door.
Xie Qiang was startled by his sudden move. Seeing him leave directly without a word, her nose felt sour instantly.
“Bad guy…” She lowered her head, gently clenching her fist, her ankle throbbing with pain. “Clearly promised not to leave me alone.”
All liars.
Sen Ji noticed Xie Qiangās sad expression. His brows moved slightly as he looked up at the leaving Mo Yin.
She… cares about Mo Yin very much?
Before he could investigate further, the girl in front of him had already stood up abruptly from the sofa chair.
Her originally dim eyes revealed a seriousness and solemnity of going all out. She scanned the dark mass of A-class Sentinels opposite her, her pink lips parting lightly. “Commander Sen said you want me to give an explanation.”
As soon as her voice fell, the whole venue fell silent first, then erupted into noisy clamor.
“Exactly! We will no longer tolerate your reckless behavior!”
“A-class Sentinels are not your toys to be bullied at will!”
“If you can’t give a satisfactory explanation, whoever wants to kill Zerg can do it; we are quitting the battlefield, not serving anymore!”
The A-class Sentinels glared with wide eyes, staring at Xie Qiang indignantly like provoked bulls. If not for the presence of several S-class Sentinels, they probably would have rushed up already.
Xie Qiang nodded, her voice clear enough to penetrate all the noise. “I admit, my past actions were all wrong. To those Sentinels who suffered bullying, I want to say sorry.”
“Shao Bo, Chen Qing, Mu Hu, and Bai Jing, Gan Yu…”
She read the names one by one. After confirming no omissions, she spoke sincerely, “My past immaturity caused me to discriminate against and hurt you, and also made all A-class Sentinels lose trust in me and the Empire.”
She bowed deeply. “For this, I am very sorry, and I promise absolutely not to commit it again.”
Unexpectedly seeing the Princess actually bow her head to apologize, the A-class Sentinels looked at each other, all showing surprised expressions.
But soon, a person walked out from the crowd. Shao Bo stared coldly at Xie Qiang, his tone mocking. “Your Highness really knows how to stall us. You maliciously entered our spiritual seas, used our psychological weaknesses to bully us wantonly, making us suffer despair and pain time and again. Does a sentence of ‘immaturity’ erase all the harm?”
“I…”
“Does the Princess think that since the Sentinels persecuted by you number only a few dozen, as long as you promise not to do it again, everyone should let it go? After all, you didn’t hurt anyone else, right?”
Shao Bo pressed step by step, disgust spreading on his face. “But who knows if you are moody? When in a good mood, you apologize to us and let it pass; when in a bad mood, you start persecuting us again!”
Hearing this, the Sentinels couldn’t help but agree, echoing one after another, “Exactly! Who knows if she is sincerely apologizing or trying to trick us into continuing to risk our lives for her!”
“We do not accept such an explanation!”
Hong Que was furious hearing this, unable to resist roaring, “I warn you, don’t f*cking push your luck! You don’t believe the apology or the promise, then what do you want?”
Shao Bo sneered. “That is a problem the Princess should consider, Inspector!”
Both sides fell into a deadlock. Just as Xie Qiang wanted to say something, Jiang Qingwan beside her suddenly stood up.
“Everyone, how about listening to me?”
Her smile was gentle, her voice like ice water melting in spring, speaking slowly. “I know the Princess made many mistakes in the past and hurt some A-class Sentinels. But she is young after all, and grew up pampered, so it’s inevitable her behavior was a bit out of line…”
“Young?” Shao Bo sneered instantly, looking askance at Jiang Qingwan. “When I was her age, I was already on the battlefield clearing Zerg!”
“Does being pampered mean one can abuse Sentinels? Or does it mean that what the Empire’s heir learns in the palace is how to treat Sentinels as slaves risking their lives to clear Zerg!”
His eyes turned red, roaring, “His Majesty is also a Sentinel; does she dare to abuse His Majesty? It’s just because our status is low and we are easy to bully!”
Shao Boās words were like a spark falling into a gunpowder factory.
The A-class Sentinels rioted one after another. Someone slammed the table fiercely, the metal vibration wrapped in a roar. “Exactly! So what if she’s a Princess, so what if she’s an S-class Guide! This is absolutely not a reason for her to do whatever she wants!”
Seeing the Sentinels’ emotions becoming increasingly intense, Jiang Qingwan hurriedly raised her hands, pressing down, comforting softly, “Everyone, don’t get excited first. Listen to me finish, okay?”
