Chapter 97: Hong Que, Hit It in the Face

Her gaze was sharp and determined. “Hong Que, hit it in the face!”
“Coming!” Hong Que held Xie Qiang with one arm, his slender fingers wrapping over her hand on the trigger. After supporting the full weight of the gun, his index finger and the corner of his mouth hooked simultaneously. Bang—!
The flame bullet whistled toward the Zerg Empress’s face. The Empress gave a sharp screech and was forced to raise a limb to block the bullet.
Then, that limb was blown apart. Blue Zerg blood gushed out like a fountain. The Empress looked at the three with fury. While lowering her body, she swung another limb to point at them. “Sss-oh—!”
The nearby flying Zerg swarmed in a dense mass, forming two extremely thick walls of insects in front of the Empress and behind the three, which then collapsed toward the three like falling skyscrapers.
“Blast it apart!”
Xie Qiang commanded with a majestic air. As mental power was injected, a burst of flame bullets flew from the barrel again, punching through the pressing wall of insects like a hot knife through butter.
Bang—sss-oh!
A gap was blown in the insect wall. Hong Que held Xie Qiang tight and leaped up. Mo Yin retracted his mental spirit, drew his blade, and followed closely. In the distance, the Zhu Que spread its wings and flew over, catching the three on its back and flying toward the opening.
The flying Zerg continued to swarm, blocking their vision and preventing Xie Qiang from seeing the Zerg Empress’s position.
“Where did she go?” she couldn’t help but ask.
“Maybe she fled.” Hong Que frowned. While clearing the Zerg, he sneered, “It’s the Empress Mother’s usual way—flee if she can’t win.”
“No.” Mo Yin sniffed the scent of blood in the air and pointed in a direction. “She’s coming.”
As soon as he spoke, a Zerg tail covered in sharp barbs swung toward the Zhu Que with intense murderous intent. The Zhu Que tilted its body to narrowly avoid it, so angry it spoke in human tongue: “You damn sneak attacker @#￥ My% your ancestors… #￥%…”
Xie Qiang: Wow, such foul language.
“Again.” Mo Yin suddenly grabbed the two and jumped forward. This time, the Zhu Que couldn’t dodge in time and was struck by the tail, its entire body jolting downward.
Facing these terrifying Zerg, Xie Qiang’s nerves had been taut. Seeing the tail swing over, she immediately raised Hong Que’s arm and aimed at the Zerg Empress’s tail.

In the swarm, the Zerg Empress screeched in pain again. The Zhu Que stabilized its falling body. Seeing Xie Qiang had avenged it, it said excitedly, “Beautifully done! Pervert, I think I’m falling for you!”
Xie Qiang’s mouth twitched. She didn’t respond, but said to Mo Yin, “Since you can smell which direction she’s in, you’ll be the one to command.”

With Mo Yin’s cooperation, Xie Qiang fired several more shots. The Zerg Empress’s screeches grew increasingly angry. Finally, she gave up lingering and rapidly crawled away.
But the insect tide showed no sign of dispersing. After nearly three hours of intense, prolonged combat, Hong Que couldn’t help but curse, “This is never-ending!”
He and Mo Yin could persevere; they could fight for two or three days without a problem. But Xie Qiang definitely wouldn’t be able to handle the hunger and cold…
“We must escape the tide.” Hong Que’s face was grim. He shot a Zerg that flew over and said to Xie Qiang and Mo Yin, “Let’s go!”
He held Xie Qiang, with the Zhu Que clearing the way and Tian Lang at the rear, as they ran toward the tunnel they had already explored. Xie Qiang withdrew most of her mental power, changing the sniper rifle back into a handgun, and then held the gun with both hands to blast the Zerg flying in the air.
The power wasn’t as great as the sniper rifle, but it was more than enough to deal with these low-level Zerg.
They walked for an unknown amount of time, yet the tide still didn’t disperse. The prolonged concentration of mental power finally collapsed Xie Qiang’s last psychological defense.
Her patience was also exhausted.
“Stop walking, Hong Que.” Xie Qiang’s face was cold, her gaze sweeping over these hideous Zerg. her voice held a faint tremor of suppressed rage. “Since we can’t walk out horizontally, then we’ll go out vertically.”
Hong Que was stunned. After he realized her meaning, his eyes suddenly lit up. “How are you such a genius?”
“Then let’s do it!” He stuffed both Zhu Que Spears into Xie Qiang’s hands, then raised her arms, pointing the muzzles at the stone wall above.
Since they couldn’t find an exit, they would create one!
Dazzling light flashed as the two blue-and-white sniper rifles fired flame bullets, blowing the cave ceiling apart with a roar. Rubble rained down. The three humans and one wolf jumped onto the Zhu Que’s back and flew toward the opening that had been blasted out above.
