The Little Beauty from the Countryside is a Group Pet Chapter 7.1

Chapter 7: Going Out—“Xixi, feed me, okay?” part 1

When Gu Chuanzhou came to the door, Yu Xi was in the Pei family’s small study, accompanying Pei Wang while he did his homework.

It was Pei Lexin who had intentionally wanted to ease their relationship. She had tentatively suggested it during breakfast, and Yu Xi immediately understood her intention, nodding in agreement.

As for Pei Wang’s opinion, Pei Lexin didn’t care.

What Pei Lexin did care about was whether Yu Xi would be bullied.

“If this boy still dares to bully you or give you a sour face, don’t indulge him. Find me, Auntie Wan, or the butler to handle it. Whatever you do, don’t bottle it up. If you feel wronged and don’t say anything, it’s not good for either of you. Auntie Pei would also feel terrible. That would make things worse, do you understand?”

After whispering her instructions, Pei Lexin turned around and gave Pei Wang a stern warning.

“Don’t spend your days looking down your nose at people. Our Xiao Xi was the Science Top Scholar of his province! It’s your blessing to have him tutor you. You better be sensible and not cause trouble.”

Hearing this, the defiance on Pei Wang’s face turned into a hint of surprise. He stole several disbelieving glances at Yu Xi.

Anyone who could get into Jingda was naturally formidable, but he hadn’t expected Yu Xi to be even more impressive than he had imagined.

However, shock was one thing; he still wasn’t willing to cooperate.

Once in the study, he ignored Yu Xi’s presence and buried his head in his summer homework.

Seeing his attitude, Yu Xi didn’t keep trying to curry favor. He silently sat on the side for a while, secretly observing the study out of boredom.

The Pei family had a study on every floor. The small study on the second floor was for Pei Wang’s exclusive use, so the desk and shelves were filled with his things.

There were many books—not just textbooks and supplementary materials, but also various types of extracurricular books: literature, miscellanies, novels… There was even a whole glass cabinet filled with complete manga sets and cool Gundams. Yu Xi rarely encountered these things and could only tell they were quite valuable.

In addition to the books, there were two soccer trophies on the cabinet. On the walls hung Pei Wang’s certificates, award photos, and photos with his family from throughout his childhood.

Just looking at this small world, one could sense how happy and fortunate the owner had been during his rich upbringing.

The absence of a father had no impact on Pei Wang; the love of his family was enough to support his pride and confidence.

That was nice.

“Hey, if you don’t want to stay, then don’t.”

Yu Xi’s attention was pulled back by Pei Wang. He blinked and shook his head. “No, I’m fine.”

Pei Wang let out a “Tsk,” threw down his pen, and scratched his neck. “Why are you listening to her so much? She’s already at the company. She won’t know if you tutored me or not. Why force yourself to endure this?”

Yu Xi fidgeted with his hands. “It was my own choice to come and tutor you.”

Pei Wang sneered. “Stop acting. Don’t tell me you don’t hate me?”

“…”

Yu Xi kept his head lowered, still looking soft and easy to bully. His voice was small, but his words were beyond Pei Wang’s expectations.

“I do hate you a little… but not much.”

Pei Wang was stunned for a long while, then he squeezed out a laugh. It was hard to tell if he was angry or just speechless.

“I thought you were going to go against your conscience and say you didn’t hate me.”

“Because you’re very mean to me.” Yu Xi pursed his lips. “You don’t like me; I can feel it.”

Yu Xi’s temper was very good, and he was patient, but that didn’t mean he was a pushover who could happily accept both the good and the bad.

He understood Pei Wang’s mindset for targeting him, and he wanted to work hard to maintain a harmonious relationship, but… perhaps Auntie Pei’s words before she left had given him courage, so he spoke his mind bravely.

After expressing himself, his heart felt much lighter, but he immediately felt a bit apprehensive, fearing that Pei Wang would get angry and make things hard to resolve.

Unexpectedly, Pei Wang only gave a lukewarm comment: “Oh, then you aren’t too stupid.”

Yu Xi secretly let out a sigh of relief and went a step further: “I’m very smart. Do you want me to help you with the problems?”

However, Pei Wang gave him a disdainful look. “No need. I can do them myself.”

“…Okay.”

The slightly warmed atmosphere turned stagnant once again.

Yu Xi couldn’t help, and he didn’t want to disturb Pei Wang, who was focused on his problems. So he could only sit quietly without moving, his petal-shaped eyes lowered as he fell into a daze.

He was very patient. He sat there without moving for over an hour.

When Pei Wang finished one subject and stood up to stretch, he was startled to find someone still sitting across from him.

Yu Xi tilted his head. “?”

Pei Wang wiped his face. “Wait, why are you still sitting here?”

Because it was so quiet, he hadn’t been disturbed at all. He was the type of person who got very immersed when doing homework, so he hadn’t noticed and thought the other person had already left.

“I was afraid you would run into something you didn’t know, so I wanted to keep you company,” Yu Xi said.

“Oh…” Pei Wang glanced hesitantly at several empty problems on his assignment. Just as he was debating whether to ask, he saw the person opposite him suddenly stand up.

“It’s almost ten o’clock. I made an appointment to meet Brother Chuanzhou yesterday. He should be arriving soon.”

After finishing his explanation, Yu Xi quickly left the study.

The abandoned Pei Wang swept a glance at the time with a sour face.

There were clearly still twenty minutes left. Was there really a need to be so impatient?!

Yu Xi grabbed the things he needed for going out and called out while descending the stairs, “Auntie Wan—”

Auntie Wan’s voice responded from the living room. He sought her out and found another person on the sofa—it was Gu Chuanzhou, who had an appointment with him.

The man was holding a teacup, his posture relaxed yet elegant. The moment he saw Yu Xi, a smile lit up his deep eyes.

“Xixi.”

After a brief moment of astonishment, Yu Xi strode forward. “Brother Chuanzhou, when did you arrive?”

Auntie Wan answered for Gu Chuanzhou first. “He arrived early. I originally wanted to go upstairs and call you, but Young Master Gu wouldn’t let me. He said he was afraid of disturbing you, so he’s been sitting here waiting for a long time.”

“Ah.” Yu Xi’s eyes were filled with apology. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”

Gu Chuanzhou shook his head. “It was my own choice to come early. As soon as I thought about our appointment, I couldn’t sit still at home. I was a bit impatient.”

Hearing these words, the apology in Yu Xi’s heart was replaced by a joy so full it was almost overflowing.

It was great; he could go out and play with his good friend again.

The two left the house.

While sitting in Gu Chuanzhou’s car, Yu Xi looked around curiously before finally resting his gaze on Gu Chuanzhou.

The man was wearing a casual and loose blue-striped shirt today. It was a very refreshing color. Compared to yesterday’s formal custom suit, it made him look more approachable and softened the coldness of his features.

His large palms held the steering wheel, driving with practiced ease, fully displaying the aura of a mature man.

Even though this was their second meeting, Yu Xi still couldn’t quite adapt to the grown-up Gu Chuanzhou.

He couldn’t describe what the feeling was. He was staring in a daze.

Suddenly, several boxes were handed to him.

Gu Chuanzhou: “There are snacks here. Want to try some?”

They were some refreshing, sweet, and sour preserved fruits and candies. They were all unopened, with foreign characters printed on the packaging—clearly imported.

Yu Xi opened them and tried some, his eyes glowing as he told Gu Chuanzhou, “Everything is so delicious!”

Gu Chuanzhou nodded. “Then Xixi can eat them to stave off boredom. The drive won’t be too long.”

“Do you want some?”

Delicious things should be shared; this was a mannerism ingrained in Yu Xi’s bones.

After asking, he felt it was inappropriate. The other person was driving, so it wasn’t convenient to eat.

Fortunately, Gu Chuanzhou provided a perfect solution: “Xixi, feed me, okay?”

It was a small task, and Yu Xi naturally had no reason to refuse.
