Jiang Yu received Chi Aibei’s message but didn’t go home immediately. He finished evening self-study and only found out that Jiang Wenyu had been beaten again, this time for smoking at school.
The next day at school, Jiang Yu asked Chi Aibei, “How did you know Jiang Wenyu got into trouble?”
Chi Aibei yawned. He’d set a two-month goal last night and stayed up late studying until late. He was very sleepy.
Chi Aibei’s gossip instinct overcame his sleepiness. Before the sleepiness could fully hit him, he eagerly asked, “How was it? Did he get beaten? Badly?”
Jiang Yu hadn’t seen Jiang Wenyu since leaving home last night. He didn’t know how he was, but judging by Jiang Fu’s expression that morning, Jiang Wenyu probably wasn’t doing well.
Jiang Yu asked, “You didn’t do this, did you?”
Jiang Yu couldn’t understand how Jiang Wenyu smoking was related to Chi Aibei, but seeing Chi Aibei’s reaction, it was most likely his doing.
Chi Aibei neither confirmed nor denied, continuing his unfinished yawn.
Jiang Yu: “He’s petty. Don’t provoke him.”
Chi Aibei: “I didn’t.”
Seeing Chi Aibei’s unconcerned attitude, Jiang Yu worried. Jiang Wenyu had been beaten twice because of Chi Aibei, and he wouldn’t let it go easily.
Jiang Yu: “If he bothers you again, call me. Don’t do it alone. He might use underhanded tactics, and I’m afraid you can’t handle it.”
Chi Aibei’s eyes were teary from sleepiness. “He’s so stupid; I’m not afraid of him.”
Lin Xiu: “Not afraid of who?”
Chi Aibei turned to Lin Xiu, who had entered through the back door. “Good morning, Gege.”
Lin Xiu didn’t know what exciting topic they were discussing. “Did you eat breakfast?”
Chi Aibei had online study session with Lin Xiu last night, hanging up after midnight. Seeing his yawning, Lin Xiu guessed he hadn’t slept much.
Chi Aibei shook his head. “Woke up late.”
Seeing Lin Xiu take out a bottle of milk from his bag, Chi Aibei was surprised. “For me?”
Lin Xiu: “The breakfast shop owner gave it to me.”
During the two days Chi Aibei stayed at Lin Xiu’s house, Lin Xiu always bought him a bottle of milk with his breakfast. The owner knew he only drank soy milk, and when Lin Xiu bought milk, she asked casually. Lin Xiu didn’t explain much, just saying he had a kid at home. The owner thought he had relatives visiting. Today, the owner happened to be there when Lin Xiu bought breakfast, so she gave him a bottle of milk for the “kid” at home.
Jiang Yu looked at the milk in Chi Aibei’s hand, then at Lin Xiu⌠Lin Xiu had disliked the sandwich he brought last time. What was this milk about?
Jiang Yu nudged Lin Yang, who was also watching them. “Don’t you think they’re strange?”
Lin Yang didn’t think so. “What’s strange?”
Jiang Yu: “Isn’t Lin Xiu bringing him milk strange?”
Lin Yang was puzzled. “What’s strange about that?”
Jiang Yu looked at Lin Yang. “Isn’t it strange?” Wasn’t it strange when you reacted so strongly to me bringing Lin Xiu a sandwich? Was my sandwich poisoned?
Lin Yang didn’t understand what Jiang Yu meant by “strange.” He looked at Chi Aibei, then at Lin Xiu. After observing them for a while, he suddenly understoodâhe was jealous! Jealous that Chi Aibei got milk from Lin Xiu, but he didn’t!
Out of friendship, Lin Yang generously offered, “Um, there’s a breakfast shop near my house. If you want some, I’ll bring you some tomorrow?”
Jiang Yu frowned, disgusted. “Are you crazy?”
The suddenly “crazy” Lin Yang: ⌠So you only want to drink milk bought by Lin Xiu? Only Lin Xiu, not anyone else with the surname Lin?

As soon as the morning self-study bell rang, Lin Yang called Chi Aibei out. He told Chi Aibei what he’d observed.
Chi Aibei was startled awake. “Jiang Yu has a crush on Lin Xiu? How do you know?”
Lin Yang said seriously, “You didn’t see the envious and jealous look on the study committee member’s face when the top student gave you milk. I thought he wanted some too, so I offered to bring him some tomorrow, but he refused.”
Although Chi Aibei had suspected Jiang Yu had feelings for Lin Xiu, after getting to know him, he thought Jiang Yu was as straight as a ruler. Now that Lin Yang said he had a crush on Lin Xiu, Chi Aibei felt something was wrong.
The ten-minute break wasn’t enough for Lin Yang’s gossip. The class bell rang.
Chi Aibei returned to his seat, looking at the empty milk bottle and then at Jiang Yu’s back. His hair stood straight up, and he was incredibly straight.
He couldn’t understand, so Chi Aibei stopped thinking about it.
Jiang Yu was looking at takeout milk tea, thinking that Lin Xiu had used milk to impress Chi Aibei, and he couldn’t be outdone. He needed to boost his favorability too.
The sandwich incident had scared him, so he hadn’t dared to give Chi Aibei anything. But Lin Yang said it wasn’t strange for Lin Xiu to bring Chi Aibei milk, so it shouldn’t be strange for him to buy Chi Aibei milk tea.
Just as Jiang Yu was about to order, a message from Chi Aibei popped up.
Jiang Yu looked back at him. Chi Aibei lifted his chin, signaling him to read the message.
Jiang Yu opened the chat box and saw Chi Aibei’s message, his eye twitching violently:
Chi Aibei: ăYou can’t like Gege. I don’t approve of this marriage!ă
Jiang Yu turned back, looking at Chi Aibei bewilderedly. “Did your inner fool awaken again?”
Just as Chi Aibei was about to warn him again, Chen Jiang walked into the classroom with someone.
Chi Aibei’s open mouth snapped shut when he saw the person behind Chen Jiang⌠His expression turned serious.
Chen Jiang: “We have a new student transferring to our class. Please introduce yourself.”
Although the new student stood on the podium, everyone looked at Chi Aibei.
He Chenjiang easily found Chi Aibei’s location following everyone’s gaze. “My name is He Chenjiang. I’m transferring from Class 7. Please take care of me.”
Jiang Yu turned to Lin Xiu. “You didn’t bring him here, did you?”
Lin Xiu: “Am I that bored?”
Saying this, Lin Xiu looked at Chi Aibei. Chi Aibei was frozen, motionless, staring at the person on the podium without blinking.
After a few seconds, he slammed the table, stood up, and shouted, “I don’t agree!”
What’s with the transfer to Class 1?
Who let him transfer to Class 1?
Jiang Yu was one thing; that crooked tree could at least be straightened out and used, but He Chenjiang was absolutely unacceptable!
