The Popular Supporting Villainess: What to Do When Surrounded by Psychos Chapter 17

Chapter 17: The Whole World Is a Love Rival

Seeing the man following her with no intention of leaving, Ruan Yi’s hand started itching again.

She wanted to slap this Shen Xun, but was afraid he would lick her hand.

The sound of hoofbeats on the track came from far to near. With a light tug on the reins, the black horse reared up. The figure on the horse used the momentum to flip and land, riding boots hitting the soft sand steadily.

“Xiao Yi, let’s go.” The person who spoke had an androgynous voice, sharp, upturned eyes, and an appearance somewhat indistinguishable between male and female. Their height was only slightly shorter than Shen Xun.

Cool white fingertips reached toward Ruan Yi’s palm, wanting to hold her hand.

Ruan Yi’s eyes curved, happily preparing to be held. Suddenly, a man’s long arm shot out. Her slender waist was heavily gripped by a large palm, and she could feel the scalding temperature of his palm even through the fabric.

Before Ruan Yi could cry out in surprise, her whole person was rudely dragged into his hard chest. Her butterfly bones slammed into Shen Xun’s body, which was as hard as steel reinforcement, shocking her bones into numbness.

Shen Xun tightly hooped the softness in his arms without letting go, his chin pressing against her head, suppressing the top of her hair, surrounding her from all directions.

“Who is this guy, wanting to touch you?”

Ruan Yi looked up forcefully, her head knocking Shen Xun’s chin away. She heard his muffled groan of pain, but before half a second passed, the man’s chin continued to rub against her ear.

Remembering to eat but not remembering the beating.

“Get lost! If you can’t speak properly, don’t speak. She is my friend, a girl!”

Ruan Yi struggled to push Shen Xun away while speaking. After explaining, she felt she was really bored out of her mind; why explain to this psycho?

Seeing Shen Xun’s behavior, the person opposite narrowed their eyes slightly. “President Shen, nice to meet you. Equestrian Club President, Guan Ling.”

He loosened his arms slightly, afraid of hurting Ruan Yi, and watched helplessly as the girl broke free from the crook of his arm and moved to that person’s side. The jealousy surging in his eyes was about to overflow.

What man, woman, male, female—what was the difference?

The intentions of approaching Ruan Yi were all the same. A bunch of despicable people delusional about snatching his fiancée away from his side.

Guan Ling didn’t get a response from Shen Xun and chuckled lightly. “The Shen family’s upbringing and etiquette really are quite unusual. No wonder Xiao Yi told me…” She stopped abruptly.

“Told you what?” Shen Xun frowned, his face as black as dripping ink.

Guan Ling took the girl’s hand and held it in hers. Looking at the obviously stiff man in front of her, she raised an eyebrow. “Nothing.”

The two girls walked away hand in hand without looking back. There was no badmouthing him; the two looked at each other and snickered secretly.

Shen Xun watched their backs, clenching his teeth until the edges of his jaw tensed up.

Love rivals. The whole world is a love rival!

Those slutty men with impure thoughts, this eccentric dead woman, and that horse Ruan Yi rode!

Everyone wanted to steal his wife.

“Fuck!” Tense muscles rose and fell under his shirt.

He abruptly lifted his right leg wrapped in a riding boot, and the sole smashed ruthlessly against the sturdy wooden railing beside the racecourse. With a loud crack, the wood grain split instantly, and the railing broke in response.

The maintenance staff at the edge of the equestrian field naturally heard the huge noise, but cold sweat poured down, and they dared not step forward at all.

Was this person a monster… The railing had clearly just been reinforced.

The two changed out of their equestrian suits and sat in a cafe. Ruan Yi was fully prepared for the interview.

Since NovaVoy shifted its focus back to the country, its market value had grown rapidly, becoming a new benchmark in the capital market that investors scrambled to chase.

“If you want to improve your abilities, NovaVoy is definitely the best choice for gaining experience. And they happen to be recruiting a new assistant to the CEO. Xiao Yi is very lucky. If you can snag this internship offer, you’ll definitely learn a lot.”

Ruan Yi’s eyes lit up. Finally, she encountered a good thing.

Guan Ling was truly too nice. Ruan Yi rejoiced at having such a warm-hearted friend. However, probably because Guan Ling was in the law department, there wouldn’t be any competitive conflict between the two applying.

As for the CEO’s assistant, it was her desired position from the start. Although she might have to do everything and it would be hard work, with experience, she could help her mom better, and she could also secretly learn skills from the CEO!

Arriving in front of the meeting room, a young female employee gestured for Ruan Yi to go in for the interview.

The female employee pushed open the meeting room door for Ruan Yi, but her eyes met Guan Ling’s. Seeing Guan Ling, she raised her eyebrows.

Ruan Yi was fully prepared. Although she didn’t have 100% certainty, she was quite confident.

The interviewers were very satisfied with her image. Nine out of ten questions asked were ones she had prepared for in advance. Even with tricky questions, Ruan Yi answered calmly and with ease.

Until the interviewer asked about her current relationship status.

Ruan Yi felt a bit uncomfortable. It was a question women always faced when choosing a career. It was clearly an invasion of privacy, yet an enterprise with such a good reputation like NovaVoy actually had this kind of question too.

Ruan Yi suppressed the unhappiness in her heart and politely expressed that she had no inclination to marry or have children within a certain period.

Top floor, CEO’s office.

The man sank lazily into the leather chair, his long legs crossed under his suit pants, stretching out like a black panther.

His fingertips rubbed a resume on the desk, but his gaze was firmly fixed on the computer screen—in the image, the girl was accepting inquiries from the interviewers in the meeting room.

The girl’s physical conditions were excellent, and she looked exceptionally confident. But one could still see a little nervousness from her hands obediently folded on her professional skirt; her thumb unconsciously rubbed the knuckles of her other fingers, making the skin pink from friction.

Cute. Truly cute to death.

There was a knock on the office door. The man’s Adam’s apple rolled, forcing himself to pull his thoughts away from the computer screen.

Guan Ling frowned. “You’re still watching her with surveillance?” She somewhat suspected she didn’t know the person in front of her.

The man in the chair raised his chin slightly, his gaze sweeping over her. In his bottomless eyes, a pressure like quenched ice made Guan Ling stiffen, and she shut her mouth resentfully.

“I came to remind you, Ruan Yi and that guy named Shen, their relationship isn’t as bad as the rumors say. Weigh it yourself.”

He frowned slightly, and a layer of violence instantly stained the bottom of his eyes.

The interview was about to end. The interviewer asked Ruan Yi the last question.

“During working hours, you must follow closely and be on call at any time. Can you do it?”

The interviewer had already explained to her that although she was an intern student who hadn’t graduated yet, apart from class time and pitifully few days off, she had to follow closely at all other times.

Only when she had classes would it be the working time of the other formal assistant.

Ruan Yi felt something was wrong. Wasn’t this putting the cart before the horse? She was just an intern assistant; logically, she was the existence assisting and backing up the other assistant.

How did it turn into following her schedule?

Ruan Yi was a bit conflicted in her heart, but her mouth agreed immediately. For the sake of stealing skills, she’d go all out.

The interview ended, and the interviewer notified her on the spot that she passed.

Ruan Yi was so happy the arc of her mouth couldn’t come down. But… why did it feel like someone was happier than her?

The interviewers seemed to breathe a huge sigh of relief, wiping sweat as if a heavy burden had been lifted, with the joy of surviving a disaster.

Was this company a bit strange?
