Chapter 105: Extreme Speed
The race ended quickly.
The audience began to disperse, and staff arrived to inform them that they could head to the car.
They both got in, with Xie Xian taking the driver’s seat.
“Have you driven many times before?” Gu Wanrong asked from the passenger seat. Looking at the winding mountain road and the streetlights lining the track, she suddenly felt nervous.
Her hand unconsciously tightened on the seatbelt, her eyes betraying a trace of unease.
Gu Wanrong had always been someone who cherished her life. She was timid, usually only daring to ride children’s roller coasters. Although she had become bolder after her rebirth, she wasn’t that bold.
At this moment, her heart was beating faster. The sports car poised at the starting line made her feel as if her heart was about to jump out of her throat.
Xie Xian held the steering wheel with one hand, glancing sideways at her nervous face. It overlapped perfectly with the expression she’d worn earlier when worrying about him drunk driving.
He laughed out loud. Gu Wanrong felt her ears tingle at the sound, and her tense nerves relaxed slightly.
Suddenly, Xie Xian leaned in, instantly closing the distance between them. His breath gently brushed her cheek—faint, warm, and mesmerizing.
“I’m an old hand. I won’t take your life.”
Xie Xian’s low voice rippled with amusement. Gu Wanrong could clearly see the smile in his eyes.
“I, just…” Gu Wanrong tried to explain her nervousness, but Xie Xian cut her off.
“Don’t be scared.”
Though there was a smile in his voice, it carried a confidence in his skills that offered an endless sense of security. His gaze lingered on her, his eyes shining and irresistible.
Xie Xian knew this was her first contact with racing. Naturally, she was full of fear—how could she not be? She didn’t need to explain. Once the run was over and the emotions vented, she would be fine.
“Hold on tight. We’re taking off.”
“Okay.”
Gu Wanrong nodded, the fear in her heart gradually dissipating.
In the next second, the sports car shot out from the starting line like an arrow from a bowstring, leaving nothing but a blur behind them.
Only smudged vegetation remained in Gu Wanrong’s vision, as if her body had broken free from gravity and was floating in the air.
The car went faster and faster. Intense fear slammed into her heart, and a scream tore from her throat uncontrollably.
“Ah—!”
Her scream resonated through the mountains.
Approaching the first corner, the speed showed no sign of decreasing. In the next instant, it felt like they were going to slam directly into the mountain. Gu Wanrong squeezed her eyes shut, sharper screams echoing into the night sky.
However, nothing happened. The weightless, floating sensation continued to fill her body.
She opened her eyes in horror, only to see another corner approaching immediately. She squeezed them shut again.
Xie Xian turned his head and saw her eyes squeezed tight, laughing involuntarily. What a coward. But it was normal; everyone was like this on their first try.
The car reached a straightaway. He stepped on the gas, the speed soaring instantly, the wind whistling in their ears.
“Slow down! I don’t want to die!”
Gu Wanrong’s terrified screams echoed inside the car. She kept her eyes shut tight, terrified that if she opened them, she would see herself flying off the cliff.
“Sob… I want to go home…”

Gu Wanrong, eyes still shut, babbled incoherently with a crying tone, looking helpless and terrified.
Despite being scared to death, her body remained firmly pressed against the seat back, her hands gripping the seatbelt white-knuckled, not interfering with Xie Xian’s driving at all.
Xie Xian took it all in, feeling a trace of relief. Whether it was fear or terror, letting all those bad emotions vent alongside the soaring speed was a release for her.
He couldn’t help but laugh again.
In his eyes, her appearance—too scared to move, only able to close her eyes and beg for mercy—was simply too cute.
After an unknown amount of time, they had passed countless corners. The fear in Gu Wanrong’s screams gradually faded, replaced by excitement, venting, and enjoyment.
The roar of the engine in her ears, the blurred scenery, the intense weightlessness—but the speed didn’t drop at all. The stimulation made her adrenaline soar.
At this moment, Gu Wanrong saw only the road ahead. Her mind held only the desire for speed and the pleasure of the rush. She just wanted to go faster. Faster!
She sat in the passenger seat, shouting excitedly at Xie Xian: “Faster! Faster!”
“Okay!”
Xie Xian answered without hesitation.
As soon as the word fell, the sports car surged forward again.
Obviously, Xie Xian had been holding back for her sake, worried she couldn’t handle excessive speed. Now, he was truly showing his strength.
“Ah—!”
“So exciting!”
With the acceleration, Gu Wanrong felt the blood in her whole body boiling.
Speeding like wind and lightning, the tires rubbing violently against the ground, the roar of the engine resonating in her ears—it was much more exciting than a roller coaster!
Well—much more exciting than the children’s roller coaster she had ridden.
Time passed in a flash. With a beautiful drift, Xie Xian finished the course.
“You… that was too fast! But… it seems quite exciting…”
The trip had completely released a mass of negative emotions for Gu Wanrong. Even now, she was still riding the high, unsatisfied in her excitement, her voice trembling slightly.
“Can we run another lap?” she asked immediately, obviously reluctant for it to end.
Her tone had steadied, though her voice was a bit hoarse from all the screaming.
Xie Xian gazed at Gu Wanrong with bright eyes. She had swept away the gloom from earlier; her radiant appearance was now full of vitality and vigor.
He had lost interest in racing because it could no longer disperse the irritability and unhappiness suppressed deep in his heart. But now, looking at her, he felt those dark clouds gradually dissipating, blown away by a spring breeze.
Initially, he thought she would be as fragile as she looked. But after releasing her negative emotions through fear, she had actually begun to enjoy the extreme speed.
I’m not the only unruly one; you are too.
Wanrong, you are just like me.
Xie Xian chewed on this thought repeatedly in his heart.
“Okay.” His voice was soft, but it seemed to knock heavily on her heart.
He restarted the engine, and the vehicle flew out like an arrow from a bowstring.
This time, Gu Wanrong was even more excited. She felt the pleasure of the wind blowing across her cheeks, and the depression in her heart vanished completely.
The sports car sped along the highway as if trying to break through the clouds.
When the car stopped again, Gu Wanrong turned to him, her voice sincere and earnest.
