Chapter 129: New Song
The Grand Finale continued live.
Before everyone’s eyes lay a deep, silent bamboo forest. A figure flashed through the woods, bursting through the bamboo, and looking up, a continuous flight of stairs stretching endlessly came into view.
Disorderly yet orderly rugged strange stones stood outside the bamboo forest, right before the stone steps.
The wind curled up several bamboo leaves in the air, drifting and spinning. Faintly, the sound of a sharp weapon cutting through the air could be heard by the ears. Before the bamboo leaves in the air could land, a blur flashed before the eyes, and the leaves were pierced, nailed one atop another onto the strange stones.
Slowly, the camera moved backward. That flashing figure appeared clearly, holding a sharp blade that glinted with a cold light.
The figure turned his head, a bone-chilling gaze piercing the lens. In the next instant, he hurled the blade in his hand toward the camera. The people outside the lens felt as if they were physically there, locked in place by that icy stare, not daring to move a muscle.
Only when the camera steadied from its frantic movement did it finally focus on that person, zooming in, closer and closer.
A face with sword-like eyebrows and phoenix eyes, clear and handsome, appeared on the big screen.
The venue erupted in screams. “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” It was as if the shock they had just felt found a breakthrough, or perhaps it was a release of emotion toward the breathtaking beauty on the big screen.
Barrage comments flooded the live stream frantically.
“Mom! My breathing stopped; that scared me to death!”
“My hands and feet are cold, I can’t speak.”
“Wuwuwuwu, Hubby, I need a kiss to get better.”
One sound, two sounds, three sounds. Zheng—Zheng—Zheng. The sound of a Guqin rang out.
Neither fast nor slow, bright and clear. A pick, a hook, the string sound was as strong as pine and as distant as the horizon, spilling out like a tide, the clanging sounds lingering in the heart.
Below the stage and online, Thump—Thump—Thump, the hearts in everyone’s chests beat along with it, echoing and resonating with the strumming zither like a drum.
Seven young men dressed in short martial arts attire, with upright postures and robes fluttering, their neatly tied hair flowing in the wind, descended from the sky.
The artificial mountain made of strange stones spun wildly at this moment, forming a confrontation with the eight people holding various weapons, blocking them from climbing the endless mountain steps.
The sound of the Guqin became more and more urgent as the situation grew tense, and the heartbeats in the chest beat faster and faster. The situation was on the verge of breaking out; the cold light of weapons clashing with stone pierced the calm in an instant.
Sword shadows and cold light, the rustling bamboo forest, bamboo leaves and crushed stones swirling in the sky, the urgent strumming pressed down on people until they couldn’t breathe.
The zither string snapped. Silence fell both on and off the stage. Suddenly, screams and shouts erupted, the zither music rose again, and the melody gradually picked up.
“Crazy, am I watching an idol stage!?”
“Young hero, look at Mama!”
“Scared me to death! The debut night is so awesome ahhhhhh!”
“Yishang Entertainment, what kind of super invincible nice stuff are you making?”
In the few seconds the stage lights were out, the weapons in their hands were tossed to the side by the trainees. The music started, the stage art lit up, and the trainees sang and danced in unison with the music.
The soul-stirring arrangement, the high-spirited lyrics, and the chivalrous choreography brought tonight’s first group stage performance.
The exquisite and fitted ancient-style short outfits outlined the trainees’ figures. During the dance break, their uniform, neat, and imposing dance moves drew continuous screams from the audience.
Every trainee on stage could hear their name being shouted by the fans below, traveling up to the stage and into their ears, merging with the rhythm in their earpieces.
When the song ended, everyone’s mind was tightly locked by the stage, as if they were not trainees who hadn’t debuted yet, but eight mature idols who had finished a mature performance.
By the time the audience’s minds returned, the stage lights had all gone out, and the trainees on stage had bowed and left.
“I haven’t heard this song before?”
“Me neither.”
“Then will the second group also have a new song later?”
Amidst the buzzing discussions, the big screen flickered, and the sound system crackled with static.
In the gloomy grayness, a bright, piercing white appeared in the lens.
The scene changed. In a pure white room, people, light and shadow, lines—nothing could hide. Yet, strangely, there was nothing in their eyes. Only the sound of Ding-ling dang-lang, ding-ling dang-lang rang louder and louder in the ears.
Then came the sound of a clock spinning, ringing urgently. Hah—Hah— heavy breathing sounds followed.
One shadow, two shadows… seven black shadows appeared on the ghastly white floor. Black gradually swallowed the white, and a single red eye horrifyingly occupied the entire screen.
“Ahhhhhhh—”
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh—”
Online and offline, screams of shock erupted simultaneously—trembling, terrified, scared.
Suddenly, all sounds vanished. A dead silence; only the nervous breathing of people could be heard.
That red eye continued to stare at everyone in front of the screen as if scrutinizing the fear deep in people’s hearts.
Immediately after, a line of blood-red text appeared on the screen with a voiceover: “Did you think this was the end? The game has just begun…”
The male voice was low, enunciating each word like a jammed machine.
As the text disappeared, the screen turned ghastly white again.
At this moment, the lights in the room began to flicker, dimming and brightening, making people feel their blood run cold. A gust of cold wind blew past, making people shiver.
In the dizziness and transformation, Jing Xiu, dressed in a pale hospital gown, opened his eyes in the lens. His pupils were bright red, and his hands, fair to the point of transparency with distinct knuckles, reached out from the lens.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh—”
“Help—”
Another wave of screams.
The stage lights turned fully on. The stage set was purely white. On stage were seven young men dressed entirely in red, lean and pale. The camera slowly zoomed in, and they opened their bright red eyes in unison.
A bizarre tune was sung by Jing Xiu. There were no lyrics, only onomatopoeia, and no background music—ambiguous and enchanting.
Following that, the seven of them danced with a unified rhythm but different movements, stiff and dry. Just as everyone was stunned by this weird scene, the accompaniment suddenly blasted, startling everyone into a shiver.
The seven people on stage danced uniformly yet stiffly like puppets being manipulated. Their attire was bewitching, and every inch of exposed skin was pale and bloodless.
Under the cold lighting, the gloomy and stern faces, scarlet lips, and impactful facial features finally brought the audience back to their senses.
“So handsome! Mama!”
“Help, so handsome I’m suffocating.”
“This face, this figure, these fingers, I’m going crazy!”
“Bite me. Hubby, come bite me quickly.”
The music rhythm got faster and faster, and the dance movements became more intense. Suddenly, one young man collapsed to the ground like a puppet with cut strings. Immediately after, the other six fell one after another.
The singing became even more mournful, as if recounting something. Their bright red pupils were hollow and lifeless, staring straight ahead—fragile and broken, yet seducing the mind.
The lights and stage art gradually extinguished, and darkness shrouded the stage.
Only that initial bizarre tune continued to sing. The white stage art reappeared, but the trainees had changed into white clothes, only now wearing red chains on their necks and ankles.
A barrage of comments flew past.
“Hug! Let me ravage you properly!”
” Hiss hiss, wipe wipe, hiss hiss.”
“How can the feeling of brokenness and aggression coexist! Chosen idols!”
“So sexy!”
“Those eyes, are you seducing me?!!!!”
