Chapter 26: Xi Yuan Lai Food Company
Tong Shenyi introduced himself over the phone while Gu Wanrong listened, simultaneously querying the system in her mind.
“How could someone as excellent as Tong Shenyi voluntarily give up his lucrative job in Great Britain to manage my fledgling, practically non-existent company? System, what did you do?”
[Tong Shenyi is one of the highly competent and completely loyal talents prepared by the system for the host. The system has a ten-year agreement with them to serve you.]
“I see. So, this means I might draw other people like him in the future?”
[The system cannot guarantee the host will draw such individuals every time.]
Oh~ The system is being vague again. It seems that it’s possible to draw more in the future.
Gu Wanrong’s conversation with the system ended just as Tong Shenyi finished his self-introduction and asked about his next tasks.
Gu Wanrong had something that needed Tong Shenyi’s immediate attention. “I’ve just acquired the Xi Yuan Food Processing Plant in City C. Please return to China and take over.”
“Understood, President Gu.”
“I’ll send you the details of three people shortly. You need to contact them and invite them to join my food company. All benefits will be excellent.”
Gu Wanrong also entrusted Tong Shenyi with contacting the three individuals, adding, “I’m still in school, so you’ll need to register the food company first. The name will be Xi Yuan Lai Food Company. Like your work in Great Britain, you’ll return to China as CEO of Xi Yuan Lai, with your office at the Wealth Building in City J.”
“Understood. After returning to China, I need to take over the Xi Yuan Food Processing Plant, register and manage Xi Yuan Lai Food Company, and contact Liang Zhongwei and the other two.”
Tong Shenyi noted the tasks in his notebook, repeating them to Gu Wanrong to confirm there were no omissions.
“That’s all for now. Contact me once you’re in City J,” Gu Wanrong said after verifying his accurate summary, ending the call.
Tong Shenyi sent his prepared resignation letter to his current employer in Great Britain, efficiently gathered his belongings, drove home to pack, and booked a flight back to China for the next morning.
Back at home, Gu Wanrong had already sent the detailed information of the three individuals, the Xi Yuan Food Processing Plant, and the address of the Wealth Building to his work email.
Tong Shenyi opened Liang Zhongwei’s profile, entered his contact number, and called.
“Hello, this is Tong Shenyi, CEO of Xi Yuan Lai Food Company.”
…
Ten minutes later, Liang Zhongwei hung up, taking a deep breath. His food processing plant was saved, and he wouldn’t face crippling debt.
“Hello, is this Ms. He Yuxia?”
…
Similarly, He Yuxia’s brief conversation with Tong Shenyi ended with her laughing. A single mother, she had just recovered from childbirth and was about to re-enter the workforce. This call had essentially secured her employment.
“Hello, is this Lawyer Luo from Ying Yuan Law Firm?”
…
Luo Qingquan accepted the position of legal counsel for Xi Yuan Lai Food Company, his first significant legal role after a setback.
After contacting the three individuals, Tong Shenyi began packing.
Meanwhile, Gu Wanrong hung up on Tong Shenyi and reviewed the profiles of Liang Zhongwei, He Yuxia, and Luo Qingquan. Liang Zhongwei lived in City C, while He Yuxia and Luo Qingquan lived in City J. A quick online search revealed that their homes were quite far from the Wealth Building.
Tong Shenyi would be in China for ten years and would initially have to stay in a hotel, needing to find his own apartment.
Gu Wanrong considered buying a property for her employees, providing them with convenient accommodation near their workplace.
She also remembered that she’d told Tong Shenyi that Xi Yuan Lai Food Company’s office would be in the Wealth Building but hadn’t secured a specific floor yet; she needed to visit.
With this in mind, Gu Wanrong called the Wealth Building property manager, informing him of her upcoming visit, then went down to the underground parking garage to drive there.
Less than half an hour later, Gu Wanrong arrived at the Wealth Building.
A slightly overweight middle-aged man in a black suit was looking around outside; it was likely the property manager she had contacted.
After parking, Gu Wanrong approached him. “Are you Manager Wei?”
“Are you Ms. Gu?” Manager Wei was slightly surprised by Gu Wanrong’s beauty, his demeanor becoming immediately enthusiastic. “Ms. Gu, I’m Wei Zhengyao, the property manager of the Wealth Building.”
The Wealth Building was located in the heart of City J, with 68 floors, generating an estimated annual rental income of one billion.
Purchasing the entire building would cost at least 8-9 billion, Wei Zhengyao estimated. Gu Wanrong’s cash flow must be over 100 billion to make such a purchase. Such wealth would normally be invested, yet she’d bought the entire building outright. This hinted at even greater assets.
With this in mind, Wei Zhengyao led Gu Wanrong into the building, smiling, “Ms. Gu, what brings you to the Wealth Building today?”
“I’m looking to see if there are any vacant floors. I intend to use one for my office.” It wasn’t early, and Gu Wanrong got straight to the point.
“A whole floor?” Wei Zhengyao pondered for a few seconds. “The 56th floor is vacant and available for rent. Shall we go and have a look?”
Wei Zhengyao pressed the 56th floor button in the elevator. They arrived moments later.
The floor was empty and spacious, the sunlight from the floor-to-ceiling windows reflecting on the polished tiles. Despite being unoccupied, it was clean.
Gu Wanrong nodded approvingly. “Your property management is excellent.”
Wei Zhengyao beamed at the compliment. “Thank you, Ms. Gu, for your praise.”
Then Wei Zhengyao asked, “What type of company will you be running, Ms. Gu?”
“A food company.”
“The 56th floor has 3800 square meters; that should be sufficient for a food company.”
Wei Zhengyao gave Gu Wanrong the floor’s size. “That’s enough. I’ll reserve this floor, and it won’t be rented out to anyone else.”
Once Gu Wanrong decisively decided on the 56th floor, Wei Zhengyao considered that she would need renovations. “The Wealth Building has several reputable interior design companies. Should I introduce them to you, Ms. Gu?”
“Please.”
“Ms. Gu, let’s go to the meeting room to discuss.” Gu Wanrong agreed, and Wei Zhengyao led her there. He intended to do more than just introduce design companies.
In the meeting room, Wei Zhengyao introduced several companies and showed Gu Wanrong photos of their successful projects.
Gu Wanrong chose one and conveyed her design requirements, awaiting their design proposals.
“Ms. Gu, now that you own the Wealth Building, we need to re-sign the management contract,” Wei Zhengyao said, having finally gotten to the main point of his efforts to help Gu Wanrong.
Gu Wanrong was satisfied with the management of the Wealth Building and appreciated Wei Zhengyao’s assistance, so she read the contract and signed it without much discussion.
The contract stipulated that Wei Zhengyao’s property management company would continue managing the Wealth Building for the next three years, with rent paid quarterly into Gu Wanrong’s account.
After Gu Wanrong signed, Wei Zhengyao’s smile widened.
“Ms. Gu, since you trust our property management company, we won’t charge your company any property management fees for the next three years.”
Gu Wanrong smiled subtly. She indicated that she was leaving, and Wei Zhengyao escorted her out of the building, turning back only after she was in her car.
