Chapter 48: Taking It All
In the spacious and bright government affairs hall, neatly dressed staff members worked diligently and efficiently.
The courage she’d had before getting out of the car had dissipated. Gu Wanrong’s heart pounded, reflecting the unfamiliar, solemn, and busy scene before her.
[Believe in yourself, you can do it.]
The system’s mechanical encouragement, somehow sounded gentle in this moment, injecting a surge of courage into her.
“System, I’m going in,” Gu Wanrong whispered to herself, her tightly clenched left hand gripping her crossbody bag strap betraying her nervousness.
Entering the hall for the first time, her gaze swept around vaguely before settling on the information counter. She walked directly towards it.
The receptionist at the counter smiled. “Hello, how can I help you?”
After a brief moment of being stunned by Gu Wanrong’s beauty, the receptionist quickly regained her composure. Gu Wanrong felt her tension ease slightly. “I want to buy a plot of land.”
“Please go this way. The Land Transaction Department is on the second floor, up the stairs over there.” The receptionist pointed towards a staircase about a hundred meters away.
Gu Wanrong looked in the direction indicated, replying, “I see.”
“Is there anything else I can help you with, ma’am?”
“No, no, thank you,” Gu Wanrong replied softly, her voice filled with gratitude.
She turned and headed for the second floor.
Looking at the nameplates on each office door, Gu Wanrong quickly found the Land Transaction Department, where a moderately sized line was forming.
Unlike the bustling first floor, the Land Transaction Department was quiet, with only the low murmur of conversations. People in line maintained a respectful distance, silently engrossed in their phones.
Gu Wanrong slowed her pace, observing from the side. She noticed that someone went inside after someone finished their business and left.
She confidently joined the queue at the back, letting out a relieved sigh. She had found the right place.
After an hour and a half, it was finally Gu Wanrong’s turn.
Gu Wanrong approached the vacant counter almost silently.
A man sat upright, his gaze focused on his computer. He stopped typing when he heard the soft sound of her sitting down.
He looked up; his eyebrows were like distant mountains, his face clean and handsome. Gu Wanrong’s previously calm heart skipped a beat.
The man was equally captivated by Gu Wanrong’s striking appearance.
Their eyes met for a fleeting moment before they both quickly looked away, pretending nothing had happened.
“What can I help you with?” the man coughed lightly, getting straight to the point.
“I want to purchase a plot of land in Si Jiu City,” Gu Wanrong replied, her eyes involuntarily falling on the man’s slender, white hands with neatly trimmed nails, resting on the desk.
After a few seconds, she shyly looked away, noticing his nameplate: Su Min’an.
Su Min’an’s fingers tapped the keyboard, searching the government website for land plots for sale in Si Jiu City. He then pulled out the corresponding detailed information from a filing cabinet, asking, “May I have your name?”
“My name is Gu Wanrong, you can call me Xiao Gu,” Gu Wanrong replied, her gaze following Su Min’an’s movements.
“These are the plots currently available for sale.” After closing the cabinet, Su Min’an placed the documents on the desk and gently pushed them towards Gu Wanrong.
“Ms. Gu, what do you plan to do with the land?” Su Min’an looked at Gu Wanrong gently as she browsed the documents. “I can give you some recommendations.”
Gu Wanrong looked up at Su Min’an while reading the documents, “It’s for building a group headquarters.” She resumed reading, muttering to herself about how small all the plots seemed.
“I’m sorry, these plots are all for individual purchase.” Su Min’an was surprised. Teenage heiresses rarely got involved in purchasing land for family businesses. He subconsciously assumed this pretty girl was buying land for personal use.
“Ah? How do I buy land for a business?” Gu Wanrong felt anxious. After failing to buy a commercial building, now she couldn’t find land for a headquarters?
“We’re holding a land auction tomorrow, but you can’t participate without submitting your company information.” He pulled out a brochure for the auction.
“Will an electronic copy suffice?” Gu Wanrong quickly searched for the information on her phone, hoping for a positive answer.
Seeing Gu Wanrong’s hopeful eyes, Su Min’an, unwilling to disappoint her, took her phone, browsing the company information.
He raised an eyebrow slightly. The owner of Qian Yuan Group was this seemingly innocent Gu Wanrong.
“The information is complete,” Su Min’an nodded, slightly leaning forward and picking up a pen from the pen holder. He quickly wrote a few lines, “Go downstairs and print these documents and give them to me.”
Su Min’an tore off the paper with the registration requirements and handed it to Gu Wanrong.
Gu Wanrong rushed downstairs, asked the receptionist where she could print the documents, completed the printing quickly, and returned to Su Min’an’s counter without experiencing any social anxiety.
“Okay,” Su Min’an checked the documents. “An electronic invitation will be sent to the email address on the document before 6 PM today.”
“Thank you so much, Mr. Su,” Gu Wanrong sincerely expressed her gratitude.
She was relieved she had saved the documents on her phone; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to attend the auction.
“Um, could you show me the documents for individual purchases again?” Gu Wanrong hesitantly asked; Su Min’an had already put the documents back in the cabinet.
“Ms. Gu, you want to purchase land for personal use?” Su Min’an asked, retrieving the documents.
“Yes,” Gu Wanrong nodded, looking apologetic for bothering him.
“Ms. Gu, here you go.” Su Min’an smiled, showing no impatience. He carefully asked, “Ms. Gu, do you have any specific requirements or preferences? I can help you find something suitable.”
Gu Wanrong, reassured by his gentle demeanor, said, “I’d like to buy land near the plots being auctioned tomorrow.”
Su Min’an thought for a few seconds, then skillfully located relevant plots. “Ms. Gu, these pages contain land that matches your requirements.”
Gu Wanrong took the documents and began to carefully read them, checking on her phone how long it would take to reach each potential site by public transportation.
Su Min’an sat patiently, watching Gu Wanrong neatly arrange the pages she selected on the desk.
After reviewing the documents, she kept only the plots within a 20-minute public transport ride, returning the rest to Su Min’an.
“I’ll buy all of these,” Gu Wanrong stated calmly.
“Are you sure you want to buy them all right now?” Su Min’an asked in surprise. In Si Jiu City, very few people, especially those of her age, could afford to buy all of them at once. He knew almost all of those who could.
He couldn’t believe that Gu Wanrong could actually afford to buy all of them.
“Yes, I’ll take them all,” Gu Wanrong replied decisively, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Seeing Gu Wanrong’s calm and determined expression, Su Min’an took her through the process of signing contracts and making payments for each plot, one by one, to avoid any potential funding issues and to maintain her dignity.

“Wait, let’s do it together.”
“945 million.”
