THE REBATE SYSTEM OF SUDDEN WEALTH CHAPTER 67

Chapter 67: A Slap

“Isn’t that Gu Wanrong, our school’s famous campus goddess?” Xu Rong, across the road, eyes lit up upon seeing Gu Wanrong. The next second, she shouted at the top of her lungs, shattering the tranquil atmosphere.

“Oh, Miss Gu, you’re always so high and mighty, looking down on this person and that. Who would have thought you’d be secretly hooking up with rich men behind everyone’s back? It’s not that you look down on male students; it’s that you look down on poor male students, right?” Xu Rong’s face was filled with disdain and sarcasm.

The nearby students, hearing Xu Rong’s loud voice and the content of her words, were immediately captivated.

They stopped in their tracks, curiously gazing in this direction, eager to see what Gu Wanrong, the subject of so much campus gossip, actually looked like.

Xu Rong was thrilled at the scene, seemingly envisioning Gu Wanrong’s downfall and expulsion from school.

Jiang Yanya, following behind, also stepped forward, putting on a hypocritical, kind facade. “Gu Wanrong, you’re still a student. You should focus more on your studies! As long as you acknowledge your mistakes and correct them, it’s not too late; you still have a chance to get back on the right track!”

As she spoke, images of others being bullied by Xu Rong using the same tactics flashed through her mind, her feigned kindness unable to conceal her excitement.

Gu Wanrong dodged Jiang Yanya’s attempt to grab her arm, sizing them both up. Did they think she was helpless and couldn’t fight back, so they were eagerly here to witness their victory?

Looking at their smug expressions, Gu Wanrong scanned the students who were secretly eavesdropping nearby and said coldly, “If you’re referring to the ridiculous ‘submission’ on the school wall, I am innocent!”

“As for you two perpetrators, for spreading rumors and malicious slander, you can expect a court summons!” Gu Wanrong’s icy gaze pierced Xu Rong and Jiang Yanya.

The onlookers began to whisper among themselves.

Someone muttered, “She seems pretty confident…”

Another retorted, “Not necessarily. Aren’t the photos online clear enough?”

Xu Rong scoffed, “The counselor and principal have already called you in, and you still dare to quibble and deny it?”

“Quibble?” Gu Wanrong asked, amused.

“Do you really think you’ve covered your tracks perfectly? Do you think changing accounts and people will let you get away with it?”

Gu Wanrong found Xu Rong’s assertion laughable; she already had evidence against them, yet they were still flaunting themselves in front of her.

Xu Rong panicked at Gu Wanrong’s words. How did she know it was her who instigated it?

But she still retorted defiantly, “You’re slandering me! I didn’t do anything like that.”

Jiang Yanya, sensing the situation was turning against them, adopted a gentle and weak demeanor. “Gu Wanrong, how can you slander Xiaorong? I heard the principal called you for a talk, and Xiaorong didn’t even spend time with her boyfriend; she came to comfort you immediately.”

Xu Rong keenly picked up on the key words in Jiang Yanya’s sentence—”boyfriend.”

“You shamelessly pretended to be a rich girl with another man, you even used this appearance to seduce my boyfriend, clinging to him all day long.”

Gu Wanrong was speechless. In the end, these two were slandering her because of that scumbag man Zhang Shi?

Watching Xu Rong charge forward at Jiang Yanya’s prompting, Gu Wanrong scolded Xu Rong, “You’re a stupid fool, lacking both brains and eyes.”

Didn’t this fool, Xu Rong, know that Jiang Yanya was the one who truly liked Zhang Shi?

“You!” Xu Rong’s face flushed red with anger; she raised her hand to slap Gu Wanrong.

However, the slap never landed.

A strong hand grabbed Xu Rong’s wrist, preventing her from moving.

“Ms. Gu, are you alright?” Luo Qingquan held Xu Rong firmly, worriedly asking Gu Wanrong. He had just gone to the parking lot to get his car and returned to see this female student trying to hit Gu Wanrong.

Gu Wanrong shook her head, indicating she was fine; actually, Luo Qingquan hadn’t even needed to grab Xu Rong; she could have dodged it.

“Who are you? Let go of me!” The firmly restrained Xu Rong struggled desperately, trying to break free from Luo Qingquan’s grasp.

Jiang Yanya also chimed in, “Yes, let Xiaorong go!”

“I am Ms. Gu’s lawyer. Your actions of fabricating rumors and maliciously slandering Ms. Gu have violated the law. Within three days, court summons will be served to you both. Take heed.”

Then, Luo Qingquan forcefully released Xu Rong’s hand, staring coldly at them.

“You! You’re lying! Where did I spread rumors?!” Xu Rong panicked.

Luo Qingquan sneered, pulled out a document from his briefcase, and handed it to them, “Take a look. This is a screenshot of the rumors you instructed others to post online. The evidence is irrefutable. There’s no denying it.”

Xu Rong snatched the document and saw her actions clearly recorded.

Jiang Yanya didn’t expect them to find out about her involvement. She had only hinted to Xu Rong that everything would be fine and she wouldn’t be successfully sued. She repeatedly comforted herself.

“Gu Wanrong, you bitch!” Xu Rong, enraged and ashamed, tore up the documents, scattering the evidence, and clawed at Gu Wanrong.

Luo Qingquan was quick; he grabbed Xu Rong’s raised arm and with a swift flick, sent her stumbling back a few steps.

“Slap!”

A loud slap landed on Xu Rong’s flushed face.

“I’ve always had a good temper, but that doesn’t mean I don’t hit people.” Gu Wanrong firmly held Xu Rong’s chin, forcefully turning her distorted face to face her.

Gu Wanrong’s eyes were sharp. Looking at Xu Rong’s increasingly swollen face, she continued, “This slap is a small lesson for you. Even if you destroy the evidence, it won’t change the truth. So, wait for the court summons obediently!”

With that, Gu Wanrong suddenly released her grip, pushing Xu Rong to the ground.

Then, Gu Wanrong’s gaze swept toward Jiang Yanya, who had been cowering in the background. “Oh, and you, don’t think you can get away with it just because you didn’t do anything physically. Inciting others is also a crime!”

The calm tone made Jiang Yanya feel like an ant about to be crushed. Gu Wanrong didn’t care, she just crushed her.

After speaking, Gu Wanrong turned and left.

Luo Qingquan followed, disappearing from the crowd, leaving only Xu Rong and Jiang Yanya behind.

One, with bulging veins on her forehead, suppressed her anger, watching Gu Wanrong leave; the other, with a sullen face, stared fixedly at Gu Wanrong’s receding figure, her eyes flashing with resentment and hatred.

The onlookers, having witnessed this drama, gradually dispersed, excitedly spreading the news to their absent friends.

In the car:

“Thanks for grabbing Xu Rong earlier,” Gu Wanrong said to Luo Qingquan.

“It’s my job. However, you should consider having personal security detail when you go to school in the future,” Luo Qingquan replied as he drove.

“I’ll think about it.”
