Chapter 63: No Mercy
“I’m the CEO of Yi Shang Entertainment. I need to talk to Mr. Zhuang. Please leave,” Gu Wanrong pulled Bai Xiaosi behind her and addressed the lead staff member.
Tong Shenba held Zhuang Gui firmly, preventing him from escaping, and pushed the staff out of the room.
Yu Yingying, anticipating Gu Wanrong’s intentions, blocked the doorway, preventing eavesdropping.
“Do you want to call the police?” Gu Wanrong looked at Bai Xiaosi, earnestly seeking her opinion.
Bai Xiaosi shook her head. She couldn’t report it.
Zhuang Gui, while not a top star, was a respected veteran actor. Reporting him would attract paparazzi, implicating her.
Her role in “Ask Willow” wasn’t a traditionally virtuous woman, and people would connect the role to her.
Bai Xiaosi knew that a female artist with a sex scandal would struggle to recover. It would harm both Yi Shang and Gu Wanrong.
“If not the police, we’ll handle it privately,” Gu Wanrong said, turning to Zhuang Gui with a cold smile. “Mr. Zhuang, what do you think?”
Zhuang Gui’s face was pale, his forehead sweating. He knew he was caught.
“I…I…” he stammered, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have touched Ms. Bai. Please forgive me. I swear it won’t happen again.”
Gu Wanrong sneered, “Mr. Zhuang, do you think an apology will solve everything?”
Empowered by Gu Wanrong, Bai Xiaosi added, “Yes, it’s insincere.”
Zhuang Gui paled, trembling, “What do you want? As long as you let me go, I can give Ms. Bai money.”
Gu Wanrong looked at Bai Xiaosi, “First, he compensates you ten million yuan, how does that sound?”
After Bai Xiaosi agreed, Gu Wanrong looked at Zhuang Gui, her eyes conveying that less wouldn’t suffice.
Zhuang Gui breathed a sigh of relief. Ten million was affordable. “Give me time, I’ll transfer it.”
Gu Wanrong continued, “Second, I want all the evidence of Can Yi Entertainment’s tax evasion, prostitution, and bribery.” Her tone was cold, unwavering.
To protect Bai Xiaosi and others, Gu Wanrong was determined to dismantle Can Yi Entertainment.
Zhuang Gui’s eyes widened in shock. How did she know so much? Their actions were carefully concealed.
Bai Xiaosi was equally stunned. She stared at Gu Wanrong, questioning if what she heard was true. Can Yi had tried to recruit her before signing with Yi Shang.
Zhuang Gui’s expression confirmed her suspicions. He’d tried to lure her into a corrupt company.
“What? You’ll give the money but not the evidence?” Gu Wanrong sneered, questioning him.
His sweating and nervousness showed he knew Can Yi’s secrets but was unwilling to reveal them.
Zhuang Gui gritted his teeth, inwardly cursing. He was involved; handing over the evidence would implicate him.
He denied it, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Twenty million?” He struggled to rise; Tong Shenba held him down firmly.
He realized he was trapped. He tried to remain calm, “I really don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Let me think… how can you provide it?” Gu Wanrong saw he would refuse.
“October 4th, after the Su Jia Charity Gala, you took several artists and film students to Hongqiang Yueli; October 3rd, you organized a swimsuit party in Ao Chuang City; October 2nd, you made a large transfer to the Jin Xing Film Committee chairman,” Gu Wanrong cited information from the database.
Zhuang Gui’s face grew paler. She knew everything.
“I…I can’t say…” he pleaded, hoping she’d let him go.
Gu Wanrong, showing no mercy, said coldly, “Then I’ll continue.”
She pretended to read further.
Zhuang Gui, seeing her resolve, surrendered, “I’ll talk!”
He confessed, revealing Can Yi’s crimes. Gu Wanrong took screenshots and recordings.
The database contained everyone’s past, but she kept that information private. Reporting Can Yi required evidence and time, so getting it from Zhuang Gui was more efficient.
“Now, transfer the ten million to Bai Xiaosi, specifying: Compensation for valuables,” Gu Wanrong nodded, calmly.
Zhuang Gui was a broken man, his eyes vacant. He knew his fate was sealed.
Tong Shenba summoned her staff, instructing them to guard Zhuang Gui until the money was transferred.
She then anonymously reported Can Yi, nodded to Gu Wanrong, indicating completion.
Gu Wanrong approached Yu Yingying, “Let’s go.”
Yu Yingying turned, “It’s done?” Seeing Gu Wanrong’s nod, they left.
Bai Xiaosi stopped them, “Thank you, Sister Wanrong. I can’t imagine what would have happened without you.”
Gu Wanrong smiled, shaking her head, “You’re welcome. Protecting our employees is what Yi Shang should do.”
They left. Gu Wanrong didn’t know that saving Bai Xiaosi would solidify her decision to become Yi Shang’s top star, resolutely refusing future offers to leave the company.
