The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 14

Chapter 14: I Can Sleep on the Sofa

After fussing for a while, the medicine in the IV bottle finally bottomed out. Gu Yanxiu, who was standing by the call button, pressed it.

A nurse knocked and entered quickly. With practiced movements, she removed the needle, stopped the bleeding, and gave a few instructions. “The patient has no major physical issues. With a bit more rest, he can be discharged.”

Jiang Jing couldn’t help but ask from the side, “Is he really okay? Have you done checks?”

Nurse: “Mr. Wen underwent a preliminary check-up when he was first brought in. He just suffered some shock and mental exhaustion. There are no problems with his physical condition.”

Jiang Jing frowned. “That won’t do. Schedule a full body check-up for him. We’ll do it tomorrow.”

The nurse was good at reading people. She didn’t say anything about it being unnecessary and agreed crisply. “Rest assured, I’ll schedule it for you right away.”

The nurse left with the tray, and Jiang Jing went out to take a call. Only the four of them were left in the ward. Wen Yuhuai stared at them for a long time before finally unable to resist asking, “Why are you all looking at me? I’m not a performing monkey.”

Hearing him say this, Gu Yanxiu smiled unconsciously. He reached out to touch his forehead and only withdrew his hand after confirming he didn’t have a fever.

“Ah Yu, I was very worried about you being missing for so many days.”

He used “I,” not “we.” Wen Yuhuai paused and looked up at him, meeting those pitch-black eyes.

Like a pool of lake water, calm and bottomless.

Brother, this is getting a bit ambiguous.

Wait, ambiguous?

Coming back to his senses and realizing what he was thinking, Wen Yuhuai was dumbfounded.

It’s over, it’s over, it’s completely over. He had been messed up by that pervert to the point of mental abnormality—he actually thought the male lead’s gaze was ambiguous???

He was going crazy—

Receiving no answer, Gu Yanxiu’s eyes darkened further, but his face remained composed. A shallow smile curved on his gentle face. “It’s good that you came back safely.”

Wen Yuhuai was still in deep self-doubt, his brain having effectively blocked out his surroundings. Hearing someone speak, he nodded subconsciously, but quickly sank back into his own thoughts.

The person beside him was obviously dissatisfied with his response.

“What are you thinking about so intently? Or are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?”

A large hand with well-defined joints covered the back of his hand. Fu Xingjian bent down to look him in the eye, his gaze full of concern.

Wen Yuhuai snapped back to reality in a second, reflexively pulling his hand away. “I’m fine, Brother Jian.”

Fu Xingjian lowered his eyelashes, looking somewhat hurt. “Has Ah Yu become estranged from Gege?”

Wen Yuhuai looked down blankly. He felt his reaction was too big as well. He opened his mouth in confusion, not knowing how to explain.

It was just normal physical contact, yet he always associated it with bad things.

Could he say he had been locked up and molested by a damn pervert for half a month, which was why he reacted so strongly to their approach?

He killed this thought as soon as it surfaced. No way, no way. If word got out, he would lose all face and dignity. How would he find a girlfriend in the future?

Thinking it over, to reduce unnecessary misunderstandings, he steeled himself and actively took Fu Xingjian’s hand. “Nothing like that. Brother Jian, don’t misunderstand.”

Fu Xingjian held his hand back. Whether intentionally or not, his fingers slowly interlaced with his, locking them together. His tone sounded inexplicably lingering to the ears.

“That’s right. Ah Yu must never be estranged from Gege. We grew up together; we agreed to be good brothers for a lifetime.”

That strange feeling returned.

Wen Yuhuai looked down expressionlessly at their joined hands. He felt he really had a psychological problem. He couldn’t even tell if he was being too sensitive or if their attitude toward him was off.

As soon as they got close, his body began to be on guard involuntarily, as if a conditioned reflex had formed.

If they rolled up his sleeves now, they would see his arms covered in goosebumps.

“Just talk; why hold hands?”

Song Xingmian didn’t look too happy. He charged over like a little cannonball and somewhat roughly separated their hands—of course, he was only rough with Fu Xingjian. His movements were incredibly gentle when placing Wen Yuhuai’s hand by his side.

He even ignored Fu Xingjian’s cold face and squeezed him aside, sitting down right next to Wen Yuhuai. Like offering a treasure, he took a bright red apple from the fruit bowl. While peeling it, he asked in a sweet tone, “Does Brother want an apple? I’ll peel one for Brother.”

Wen Yuhuai didn’t refuse, and his body relaxed slightly. Being with him didn’t trigger that weird feeling.

Fu Xingjian naturally noticed his change. The smile on his face faded bit by bit, his gaze landing on Song Xingmian.

The sun outside the window had begun to set. The orange sunlight shone on his sharply defined profile, gilding it with a fuzzy golden edge. It looked warm and beautiful, but the expression in his eyes was cold.

“Brother, eat the apple.”

Song Xingmian quickly finished peeling it. He thoughtfully cut the apple into small pieces and fed them to Wen Yuhuai’s lips with a toothpick.

Wen Yuhuai ate two pieces and didn’t want any more, shaking his head to refuse. Song Xingmian finished the rest of the apple himself. In the split second he turned back to throw away the trash, he smiled at the person behind him—the provocation was obvious.

He did it on purpose.

Fu Xingjian’s hand, hanging by his side, tightened inch by inch, his nails digging deep into his flesh.

“It’s so late; you guys are still here.”

Jiang Jing finally finished her call and returned. Pushing open the door, several pairs of eyes fell on her in unison.

She glanced at her watch and started shooing people away. “It’s getting late. You should go back. Auntie knows you are close, but you can’t guard here forever. Go home, eat, and rest.”

Wen Yuhuai chimed in, “My mom is right. You guys go back first. If you really can’t bear to leave me, come back tomorrow. There are no other beds here; you have nowhere to sleep if you stay.”

I can sleep on the sofa.

This sentence popped up in the other men’s minds simultaneously. Of course, no one said it out loud.

Song Xingmian reluctantly bid him farewell. On his way out, he grabbed the arms of the other two. “Alright. Brother, rest well. I’ll come to see you tomorrow morning.”

The door opened and closed in front of them. Song Xingmian instantly released their arms as if they had some disease.

“Some people had best not come to disturb Brother anymore. Can’t you see? Brother doesn’t want to be with you.”

Fu Xingjian just smiled lightly, but the look in his eyes was calm and chilling. “Do you believe I can make you study abroad for the rest of your life, so you can never come back?”
