The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 35

Chapter 35: Seizing the Opportunity

Wen Yuhuai also thought it was quite pretty. But pretty as it was, he always felt this kind of sparkling bracelet was something girls liked to wear. For him, a grown man, to wear it felt awkward and a bit… sissy.

Fu Xingjian misunderstood. He paused and asked, “Don’t like it?”

Wen Yuhuai returned the bracelet to the sales assistant. “It’s not that I don’t like it. But aren’t we picking a gift for Little Chi today? Why buy for me too?”

“Can’t I buy for you?”

Fu Xingjian’s hand rested on the glass counter, his knuckles knocking lightly twice in a relaxed manner, his tone certain: “So you do like it.”

As he spoke, he turned back to the sales assistant. “This is the one. Bill it.”

“Eh, no needβ€””

Fu Xingjian raised an eyebrow slightly. “Is there anything else you want to buy? Then look around more; we’ll pay together later.”

Seeing he was dead set on buying this bracelet, Wen Yuhuai finally didn’t say any words of refusal. He compromised somewhat: “No need to look anymore. Just this.”

The sales assistant’s originally formulaic smile gained a bit more enthusiasm. “Do you need me to wrap it up, or…”

Fu Xingjian lowered his head, grabbed Wen Yuhuai’s hand hanging by his side again, picked up the bracelet on the counter, and slowly and carefully put it on him. “No need to pack. Just like this.”

Leaving the shop, Wen Yuhuai thought it would end again, but Fu Xingjian continued walking forward as if very interested in shopping at the mall.

Wen Yuhuai hadn’t been shopping for a while either, so he stopped mentioning other things and focused on browsing alongside him. As he walked, he kept an eye on the luxury shops on both sides, thinking of buying something to return the favor.

This bracelet wasn’t cheap. Although it was nothing to the two of them, he felt like he owed him.

After walking for a while, the two turned into another luxury store. Wen Yuhuai took a fancy to a wristwatch at a glance.

The strap was finished with alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces. The dark gray dial, paired with the iconic relief pattern, revealed luxury amidst being low-key.

He stole a glance at Fu Xingjian’s wrist. Of course, it couldn’t compare to the one he was wearing now, but it was more than enough as a spare.

Fu Xingjian followed his gaze. The corner of his mouth tilted up imperceptibly. “Like this watch?”

Wen Yuhuai threw the question back to him. “What do you think?”

Fu Xingjian didn’t act like a pervert. Wen Yuhuai estimated he should be somewhat interested in this watch too, so he took the initiative to ask the sales assistant to take it out. Then, mimicking his manner just now, he said, “Stick your hand out.”

The smile at the corner of Fu Xingjian’s lips deepened bit by bit. He obediently handed his hand to him.

Wen Yuhuai removed the watch originally on his wrist, picked up the other one, and lowered his head to put it on him with a focused expression.

This watch indeed suited his wrist. The dark dial against the wrist with distinct bones showed low-key luxury to the fullest, carrying an indescribable sexiness.

Wen Yuhuai was very satisfied with his taste. fearing Fu Xingjian would refuse, he praised readily: “Your hands look really good. This watch suits you very well too. Truly handsome enough to numb one’s senses.”

Fu Xingjian’s brows moved slightly, laughter spilling from his eyes. His voice was slightly hoarse: “Really? Handsome enough to numb you?”

Wen Yuhuai didn’t have time to distinguish the difference between these two sentences. He just nodded blindly, looking at him with a sincere face. “Of course. Do you like it?”

Fu Xingjian’s deep eyes looked at him quietly. A moment later, he smiled. “Like it.”

Wen Yuhuai breathed a sigh of relief. He lowered his head wanting to help him take it off, but Fu Xingjian dodged slightly, not letting him take it off.

“Wrap this watch up.” Liking new things was human nature. Wen Yuhuai understood immediately and looked up to speak to the sales assistant. Then he swiped his card to pay and took the packaging box from the assistant.

The two left the store and continued wandering aimlessly. The bodyguards followed at a moderate distance the whole time. When they entered a store, the two bodyguards would loiter near the entrance, keeping a distance but not losing sight of them.

This was Wen Yuhuai’s own request. The surveillance from the hotel last time was ultimately not retrieved; the footage both times was destroyed for no reason, and they hadn’t even touched a hair of the person behind it. He was truly scared by it.

“It’s so late. Want to eat before going back?”

Wen Yuhuai subconsciously checked his watch too. Sure enough, it was already five-thirty. The two had unknowingly shopped for most of the afternoon.

“Eat what?”

Fu Xingjian turned to look at him. “A new restaurant opened nearby. Heard it’s not bad. Want to try?”

Wen Yuhuai had no objection. The two left immediately, turning out of the mall to head to that restaurant.

The restaurant atmosphere was very nice, and the food tasted okay too. Of course, opening in this kind of location, the price was also very “beautiful.”

Wen Yuhuai looked at the bill. This meal actually cost five figures per person. He silently crossed this restaurant out of his “liked” category in his heart.

His family’s money didn’t blow in with the wind. What restaurant couldn’t he eat at? There was absolutely no need for one this expensive.

After dinner, it was already dark outside. Wen Yuhuai handed the gift box containing the watch to him and waved goodbye. “Brother Jian, see you next time.”

Fu Xingjian stood leaning against the car door. He didn’t take the gift box, only saying, “I’ll drive you home.”

Their homes weren’t in the same direction. Wen Yuhuai refused subconsciously: “No need, I drove here.”

Fu Xingjian didn’t insist. He raised his hand to take the gift box, his gaze landing on his wrist again, and said abruptly, “I like today’s gift very much.”

Wen Yuhuai was confused. Like it then; why look at his hand? Isn’t the watch he gave him on his own wrist?

But soon, his brain turned the corner. He hurriedly said, “I like what you gave me very much too.”

Fu Xingjian’s lips hooked up. “Good that you like it. See you next time.”

Wen Yuhuai said goodbye and turned to get into the car. But the second before getting in, he suddenly asked a question driven by some strange impulse: “What did you want to tell me yesterday? There’s no one else today.”

The subtext was you can say it now.

Fu Xingjian’s gaze darkened abruptly, and his eyes gained a few degrees of indescribable aggressiveness. “Do you really want to hear it now?”

Wen Yuhuai sensed something was wrong, his palms sweating. He shook his head wisely. “Don’t want to hear it anymore.”

Fu Xingjian, however, took two steps closer to him, looking down at him from his commanding height. “But I want to say it.”

Wen Yuhuai’s heart thumped. His brain worked at high speed, connecting the clues from these days. He seemed to realize what he was going to say. Reflexively wanting to retreat, his waist was suddenly grasped, and he was pulled into an embrace.

Something soft and warm landed on his forehead. Wen Yuhuai’s eyes widened uncontrollably. Before he could react, the person let go of him, a smile curving his lips.

“Ah Yu, goodnight.”

Wen Yuhuai turned around blankly like a wandering spirit and floated back into his car. A moment later, headlights flashed, passing in front of Fu Xingjian, and drove away without looking back.

Fu Xingjian’s gaze locked firmly onto the taillights. Only when that car merged into the traffic flow and slowly disappeared from view did he finally withdraw his gaze.

He was a bit too hasty today, but he wouldn’t regret it. Anyway, this would happen sooner or later. Someone else might beat him to it, so why shouldn’t he be the one to seize the opportunity?

He would give him time to accept it slowly. If he still couldn’t accept it in the end, then he couldn’t guarantee whether the kidnapping incident from before would happen again.

Fu Xingjian rested his hand on the steering wheel, driving the car slowly into the traffic. While watching the road, he thought absentmindedly that he wasn’t as soft-hearted as Gu Yanxiu.

If it really happened again, and he didn’t get the result he wanted, he wouldn’t let the person go easily.
