Chapter 46: Planning to Run Away
Wen Yuhuai didn’t think much of it, assuming he had pulled his inner thigh during his “struggle” with Fu Xingjian yesterday. Cursing Fu Xingjian once again in his heart, he threw off the quilt and got out of bed.
By the time he finished washing up and came out of the bathroom, Lin Shiyu was already dressed.
He was wearing the same clothes from yesterday. The shirt was slightly wrinkled, but passable. However, he wasn’t sure if his pants had been pressed strangely, but the right pocket was slightly bulging, as if something was stuffed inside.
Lin Shiyu noticed his gaze and, without changing his expression, patted the bulge down, flashing him a slight smile.
Wen Yuhuai was baffled by his smile and quickly forgot about this minor interlude.
After freshening up, the two went downstairs. Auntie Chen had already prepared breakfast and warmly invited them to eat.
Lin Shiyu didn’t stand on ceremony. He finished his breakfast very quickly, then politely took his leave: “Auntie Chen, Ah Yu, I have matters at the company, so I’ll be going first.”
Wen Yuhuai waved at him while biting into a soup dumpling. “Bye-bye~”
He must have met quite a few partners at the banquet yesterday; he’d be busy for a while.
Lin Shiyu walked out at an unhurried pace. His assistant was already waiting by the roadside with the car.
He checked the time, strode into the car, and opened his laptop on the seat while saying, “Back to the company.”
Wen Yuhuai guessed correctly. He was indeed extremely busy recently, but as long as it bore fruit, no amount of busyness mattered.
The car started quickly, merging into the flowing traffic. Lin Shiyu subconsciously touched his right pocket; inside was his trophy from last night.
Of course, he had noticed the anomaly on Wen Yuhuai’s lips as well. At a glance, it was obvious they had been ruthlessly ravaged. Combined with Wen Yuhuai’s unusual behavior these past few days, Fu Xingjian must have laid his cards on the table.
The result, naturally, wasn’t goodโhe had been blocked.
Thinking of this, Lin Shiyu’s brows relaxed a bit. He knew asking wouldn’t yield any answers, so he simply didn’t ask. Anyway, he hadn’t lost out. Not only did he sleep holding him all night, but he also managed to sneak some benefits for himself.
He rubbed the pads of his fingers restlessly, lowering his eyelashes to conceal the darkness in his eyes, relishing the deliciousness of last night bit by bit.
After Wen Yuhuai finished breakfast, Wen Yuzhou and Wen Chi finally came down. Little Wen Chi in particular was still yawning as he walked.
“You had something going on yesterday, why did you leave so early?”
Wen Yuhuai pulled a tissue to wipe his mouth, spouting nonsense with a straight face. “I had a little something to take care of.”
“Where are Mom and Dad? I haven’t seen them since I woke up. Did they go to the company?”
Wen Yuzhou seemed somewhat speechless. “The banquet lasted until nearly midnight yesterday. You dusted off your pants and left, but Mom and Dad were busy running around. Of course, they’re catching up on sleep right now.”
Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Before Wen Yuhuai could reply, he saw his parents appearing at the corner of the stairs, yawning.
Since everyone was here, Wen Yuhuai felt it was time to lay his cards on the table.
Patiently waiting for his parents to finish eating, Wen Yuhuai cleared his throat solemnly. “Dad, Mom, Brother, I want to discuss something with you.”
The group all looked at him with surprised eyes, especially Father Wen. “Since when did you learn to use the word ‘discuss’?”
Wen Yuhuai spoke earnestly, “This is serious business. I’ve decided to go south with you this week to open up the new market.”
Father Wen paused mid-sip of his tea. “With us? What do you mean?”
Wen Yuhuai: “It means our whole family is going south together. You can just find a trusted person to look after the headquarters. Anyone you find would be better than me.”
This made some sense, but Father Wen still didn’t understand. “You don’t know anything. What can you do there?”
Wen Yuhuai spoke with great seriousness. “It’s exactly because I don’t know anything that I need to follow you and learn. I need time to grow too.”
Hearing this, Father Wen immediately looked gratified and reached out to pat his shoulder. “Good boy, I knew I wasn’t wrong about you.”
Wen Yuhuai glanced at Auntie Chen, who was busy clearing the table nearby, and added, “Auntie Chen is coming with us too.”
“…”
So the matter was settled. Wen Yuhuai had no intention of telling the others. There was no need to tell Song Xingmian; he was flying abroad soon anyway, and they likely wouldn’t see each other for a long time.
As for Fu Xingjian and Gu Yanxiu, he deliberately didn’t want to tell them. He was eager to use this opportunity to draw a clear line between them; how could he possibly tell them his whereabouts?
As for Lin Shiyu, he’d tell him once he settled down there. So far, he hadn’t noticed any ulterior motives from him; this brother was still worth keeping.
Having made up his mind, he began packing his things. First, he dug out all the things Fu Xingjian had given him in the past, including the bracelet from a few days ago, bundled them up, and threw them straight into the trash can.
Finally, remembering the phone was also a gift from him, he simply bought a new one and got a new SIM card along with it.
After all this was done, the day for Song Xingmian to go abroad arrived.
His flight was at 9 AM. Early in the morning, Wen Yuhuai received a series of life-threatening calls. Song Xingmian’s tone on the other end was very disappointed, asking if he was coming to see him off.
Wen Yuhuai answered while changing clothes, “Coming, coming. Wait for me, I’ll be there soon.”
When he sprinted to the airport, he found the other three had already arrived. Strangely, both Song Xingmian and Fu Xingjian were wearing masks and hats, completely bundled up from head to toe.
He understood Fu Xingjianโafter all, the handprint on his face was personally left by him. But why was Song Xingmian wearing a mask too?
Song Xingmian’s muffled voice came from behind the mask. “Caught a cold, feel terrible. Want a hug from Brother.”
What could Wen Yuhuai say? He stepped forward and gave him a big hug. “Have a safe trip.”
Song Xingmian greedily sniffed the light fragrance on him through the mask. Jealousy surged in his heart like venom. Why was he forced to go abroad while they could stay by Brother’s side?
He really wanted to knock Brother out and take him abroad together.
The three pairs of eyes glaring at him from the side reminded him that this was merely a delusion.
They were already checking tickets at the boarding gate. He finally, reluctantly, released Wen Yuhuai and dragged his suitcase toward it.
Wen Yuhuai didn’t turn to leave until the figure disappeared at the boarding gate. Behind him, the three followed him out in unison.
Outside the airport doors, Lin Shiyu took a call and quickly headed back to his company. The other two tacitly continued following behind him.
Wen Yuhuai didn’t think much of it until the two of them unceremoniously squeezed into his car, and he finally realized what was happening.
“Get outโ”
The two sandwiched him in the middle, left and right, maintaining a tacit silence.
The two bodyguards in the front were in a tight spot. “Young Master, should we go?”
Seeing he couldn’t chase them out, Wen Yuhuai could only compromise. However, he didn’t say a single word to them the entire way, treating them like thin air.
Upon returning home, he went straight upstairs to his room without a word, leaving the clueless Auntie Chen to continue packing.
Both of them had been blocked. Since they came to seek peace, they naturally kept a low profile. Seeing Auntie Chen packing, they even took the initiative to help.
Auntie Chen smiled affectionately. “You two Young Masters can sit. I’ll be done in a moment.”
Auntie Chen had been with the Wen family for many years. Her abruptly packing things made the two smell something fishy. Fu Xingjian asked casually, “Auntie Chen, what are you packing for?”
Auntie Chen was completely unguarded. “The Madam, Master, and Young Master are leaving Beijing soon to head south. I’m going with them. Just packing some things early to avoid a rush later.”
Fu Xingjian’s eyes instantly darkened. “Which Young Master?”
Auntie Chen spoke matter-of-factly. “The Eldest Young Master and the Little Young Master are both going. It seems the core of the business is shifting south, so everyone is going. Oh well, I don’t understand all this. I just follow wherever they go.”
After saying that, she looked at them curiously. “You two are the closest to the Little Young Master. Didn’t he tell you he was leaving?”
