Chapter 52: Are You Playing with Me?
Watching the face of the person in his arms turn pale inch by inch, Fu Xingjian didn’t show the slightest hint of a soft heart. Instead, he was in a great mood as he kissed the side of Wen Yuhuai’s face.
“You saw it on the way here; the mountain scenery is quite good. If you really feel bored, I can take you for a walk nearby to clear your head.”
Neither the soft nor the hard approach worked. Wen Yuhuai completely lost the desire to communicate with him. He sat on the bed with a numb expression and gave the man a forceful shove.
“Get out.”
Fu Xingjian was somewhat unhappy with his resistance. The hand resting on Wen Yuhuaiās back tightened even more. “Get out for what? This will be our bedroom from now on.”
Wen Yuhuai opened his eyes, his gaze incredibly cold. “Didn’t you just say you’d let me think about it? How can I think with you here?”
These words were effective. Fu Xingjian naturally wanted Wen Yuhuai to accept him willingly. He stared at him silently for a moment before finally letting go reluctantly.
“Then I won’t disturb you. Take your time to think.”
Seeing that he really turned around to leave, Wen Yuhuaiās eyes flickered. Watching his back, he continued, “Before Iāve figured things out, the two of us will sleep in separate rooms at night.”
Fu Xingjianās footsteps halted. He quickly turned around, an expression on his face that was somewhere between helpless and doting. “Baby, are you playing with me?”
Wen Yuhuai wasn’t trying to play with him, but he did have the intention of stalling for time. He pursed his lips and simply issued an ultimatum, “Is it a yes or no? Or were all those things you said before just teasing me?”
Fu Xingjian finally compromised. “I can agree to that, but you must give me a deadline. I’m a normal man with normal physiological needs.”
Hearing these blunt words, Wen Yuhuaiās brow furrowed tightly, his expression one of disgust. “If you have needs, go solve them yourself. Do it however you did before. Itās useless to look for me.”
“As for the deadline, youāve locked me up here without giving me a deadline. Why should I give you one?”
Fu Xingjian sighed softly and finally turned toward the door in a gesture of compromise. “Don’t make me wait too long. A person’s patience has limits. I guarantee you won’t want to see me when I lose control.”
The sound of footsteps quietly faded away. The door opened and then clicked shut. Wen Yuhuai ran his fingers through his hair in a futile gesture and threw himself onto the mattress, staring blankly at the snow-white ceiling in distress.
How exactly was he supposed to get out of here? Did he really have to agree to his demands?
After Fu Xingjian left the room, he sat down on the leather sofa in the living room. His dark gaze was fixed on the tightly closed bedroom door. With a soft click, he finally lit a cigarette. Amidst the curling smoke, his expression was lazy yet revealed a touch of satiation.
As early as when he bought this mid-mountain villa, he had anticipated today’s scene. He could naturally guess that Wen Yuhuai wouldn’t accept it, but being able to lock him here where only he could see him, cutting off his contact with others and pruning all his rotten peach blossomsāthe sense of satisfaction and control in his heart reached its peak.
He even felt a bit of regret for not implementing this plan earlier. If he had done so before that idiot Gu Yanxiu kidnapped him, he wouldn’t have been forced to share.
But soon, his furrowed brow relaxed. It wasn’t too late now. The person had been coaxed and tricked into his home. No matter how much others looked on with longing, they wouldn’t have a chance.
Sunlight hit him through the gaps in the curtains, casting a soft glow over his sharp features. He glanced down at the time, extinguished the cigarette, and stood up in a good mood, turning toward the kitchen.
It was almost noon. Today was their first day living together; he should make something delicious to celebrate properly.
After an unknown amount of time, Wen Yuhuai heard a knock on the door, followed by the man unceremoniously pushing it open. “A-Yu, itās time to eat.”
He was still wearing an apron. The aroma of food wafted directly from the dining room, swirling around the tip of Wen Yuhuaiās nose and tempting his taste buds.
Only then did Wen Yuhuai remember to check the time; it was already noon.
He had never been one to mistreat himself. Even if he were locked up and deprived of his freedom, he certainly wouldn’t starve his own stomach. He gave the man a lukewarm glance, slowly got out of bed, stepped into his slippers, and walked out.
He was immediately drawn to the array of dishes on the dining table.
He knew Fu Xingjian could cook, but he hadn’t expected him to be this good. Furthermore, they were all dishes he loved to eat.
Perhaps noticing the surprise in his eyes, Fu Xingjian leaned casually against the doorframe watching him, a smile hooking the corner of his mouth. “Do you like it? I made them specifically for you.”
Wen Yuhuai didn’t express an opinion. He went to the bathroom to wash his hands and then started eating immediately, completely ignoring the person who had been busy for half the morning.
Fu Xingjian raised an eyebrow slightly, removed the apron, and sat down beside him. “You little ingrate. I worked so hard to make a table full of food, and you didn’t even wait for me before eating alone.”
Wen Yuhuai picked up a piece of shiny, braised spare rib. While eating, he said impatiently, “Do you need an invitation to eat? Do you think this is the Fu family? Are you still putting on your airs as a crown prince?”
Fu Xingjian stopped talking. He served himself a bowl of rice and began to eat, occasionally placing food into Wen Yuhuaiās bowl. “Try this. I almost cut my finger making it.”
Wen Yuhuai didn’t touch the food he offered. He still only picked up what he wanted to eat. After finishing a bowl of rice, he slammed his chopsticks down with a snap, pushed the bowl away, and left without any intention of helping with the chores.
Fu Xingjian was actually provoked into a laugh.
After laughing, he could only shake his head helplessly. There was no other way; since he had abducted this little ancestor himself, he had to continue doting on him even if it meant doing so on his knees.
Wen Yuhuai returned to the room to try and take a nap, but perhaps because his nerves were too tense, he couldn’t fall asleep no matter what.
Just as he was tossing and turning in bed like a pancake on a griddle, the sound of a key turning softly echoed in his ears.
Again???
Wen Yuhuai sat up alertly, clutching a pillow. Sure enough, Fu Xingjian was standing at the door, walking toward him step by step. He looked down at him, his long eyelashes unable to hide the intensity in his eyes.
“What… what do you want to do…”
Wen Yuhuai grabbed everything within reach and threw it at him, stumbling toward the other side of the bed.
The man simply stood by the edge of the bed and reached out to grab his ankle. With a gentle pull, Wen Yuhuai was dragged back inch by inch, leaving a clear trail across the dark gray bedsheets.
“Why are you running when you see me, hmm?”
