Chapter 55: Where Else Do You Think You Can Run?
Wen Yuhuai didn’t know if Fu Xingjian had noticed his disappearance. He continued to run forward desperately, crossing one slope after another. His movements could only be described as scrambling; fortunately, the ground was covered in a thick layer of fallen leaves, so falling didn’t hurt.
After running for an unknown amount of time, Wen Yuhuai was nearly exhausted. He bent over, hands on his knees, his chest heaving violently. His heart and breathing were operating at abnormally high speeds.
Yet, he still forced his leaden legs to stumble forward, terrified of being caught.
Fu Xingjian had been somewhat respectful of his wishes these past few days and hadn’t done anything to him. But if he was caught backā
The mere thought made Wen Yuhuaiās scalp tingle. He absolutely could not be caught!
There was another gentle slope ahead. Wen Yuhuaiās legs were incredibly weak, and he wasn’t paying attention to his feet. He tripped over a tree root and tumbled uncontrollably toward the bottom of the slope.
Luckily, there were no protruding rocks along the way, so he wasn’t injured. However, he truly had no strength left. He lay at the bottom of the slope, gasping for breath, unable even to turn over.
He had run so far; surely he wouldn’t be caught now?
“A-Yu, A-Yu…”
However, just as that thought surfaced, Fu Xingjianās voice suddenly rang in his ears. It was intermittent, suggesting he was still some distance away.
!!!
He could even find him here?
Wen Yuhuai didn’t care about resting anymore. He pushed himself off the ground and climbed up with difficulty, stumbling forward again.
But that voice continued to follow him like a shadow, and it seemed to be getting closer.
Wen Yuhuaiās mind went blank. He was relying entirely on willpower. His vision was turning black in waves. All his attention was focused on that approaching voice. He couldn’t even see the path ahead clearly until a pair of polished leather shoes suddenly appeared in his line of sight.
“You… you…”
Wen Yuhuai froze on the spot, dumbfounded. He looked up in disbelief. After seeing that familiar face, his eyes widened uncontrollably, and his body collapsed onto the ground from sheer exhaustion.
Fu Xingjian curled his lips. He leaned down toward him, his tone so gentle it was eerie: “Where else do you think you can run?”
A chill traveled straight up his spine. Despair flashed in Wen Yuhuaiās eyes. “How did you find me?”
Fu Xingjian simply showed him his phone. On the screen was a satellite map interface with a very prominent red dot and a green dot. Right now, those two dots overlapped.
“In this middle of nowhere with no one around, where did Baby think he could run? Your new clothes are all dirty, and you must have fallen many times on the way. Why don’t you know how to cherish yourself, getting yourself into such a mess?”
He squatted down to look Wen Yuhuai directly in the eyes. His tone was full of concern, but his eyes were full of delight.
Wen Yuhuaiās chest heaved rapidly. His voice sounded like it was squeezed out from between his teeth. “Youāre despicable! You actually put a tracker on me!”
Fu Xingjian just smiled nonchalantly. “How can you call that despicable? I was also worried about your safety. This place is so big; what if you got lost?”
As he spoke, he reached out to pick Wen Yuhuai up, but Wen Yuhuai slapped his hand away. He was extremely emotional: “Don’t touch meā”
The smile on Fu Xingjianās face faded slightly. He leisurely untied his necktie and used it to bind Wen Yuhuaiās hands together.
“Must you force me to tie you up before you’re happy?”
Wen Yuhuai glared at him through ragged breaths.
Fu Xingjian ignored his gaze entirely. One hand hooked under Wen Yuhuaiās knees while the other supported his waist, lifting him in a bridal carry.
It was unknown which way he had come from, but after walking so far, he wasn’t even winded. He carried the man with ease, his tone incredibly gentle.
“Be good. The game is over. Itās time to go home.”
They had left at eleven-thirty in the morning and arrived home before four. Those four hours of freedom were as brief as a dream. Now that the dream was over, he was once again locked in this cage.
As soon as they got home, Wen Yuhuai was stripped of his clothes and dragged into the bathroom, then forcibly pressed into a luxury double bathtub.
“Be a bit more obedient. You’re so dirty. How can you go to bed if you don’t wash up properly?”
Soon, the last piece of clothing on Wen Yuhuai was stripped away. He completely gave up struggling, becoming like a piece of plasticine or a large doll, letting the man knead and play with him. By the time the bath was over, another hour had passed.
Fu Xingjian didn’t put clothes on him. He simply wrapped him in a large bath towel and carried him out by the waist.
“Iāve already given you a week. Have you thought it through?”
Wen Yuhuaiās eyelashes trembled slightly. He still kept his eyes closed and ignored him.
Fu Xingjian continued on his own, “Originally, I planned to let you take your time, but your actions today made me very unhappy. The path there was so difficult to walk; what if you had gotten hurt? Don’t you know my heart would ache?”
Wen Yuhuai finally couldn’t play dead anymore. He shouted at him through gritted teeth, “Iād rather roll down the mountain and get hurt than be with youā”
Fu Xingjianās face finally turned cold. The expression in his eyes was deep and unreadable. “You really don’t want to stay by my side that much?”
Wen Yuhuai knew that after today, he likely wouldn’t have another chance to get out. He simply decided to throw caution to the wind. His eyes burned with fire, and his tone was like a powder keg: “Thatās right! I just don’t want to stay with you!”
Fu Xingjian nodded with an indifferent expression. “Fine. You said it yourself.”
Leaving behind those words, he turned and left the room. Wen Yuhuai watched his back with uncertainty, not knowing what he was going to do.
He soon found out.
Fu Xingjian returned from somewhere, unexpectedly holding a silver-glistening chain. He approached Wen Yuhuai with a expressionless face.
Wen Yuhuai belatedly began to feel afraid. He wrapped the bath towel tighter around himself and instinctively retreated. “What… what do you want to do? Don’t come over…”
Fu Xingjian ignored his pale threat. He was very strong. He grabbed Wen Yuhuaiās ankle and easily dragged him over. Then, the metal ring at the end of the chain clicked as it was fastened around his ankle.
With a light shake, the crisp sound of metal links clashing could be heard.
Wen Yuhuaiās eyes widened uncontrollably. He turned pale and retreated, using his hands to frantically pull at the metal ring on his ankle.
“Youāre crazy, Fu Xingjian! You lunatic! Thereās definitely something wrong with your head! You should see a psychologist! You actually dare to use a chain on me…”
Fu Xingjian slowly straightened his back, leisurely admiring his handiwork. He hooked his finger into the chain and gave it a light tug, pulling the man who was constantly trying to hide back toward him.
“I didn’t want it to be like this, Baby. You forced me.”
