The Straight Heartthrob: Ruthlessly Forced by a Madman Chapter 6

Chapter 6: He Is The Most Important

Wen Yuhuai finally settled down, stiffening like a log in the man’s arms, daring not to move a muscle.

The man hugged him tighter, lowered his head satisfied, and kissed his forehead. “Baby, goodnight.”

Midnight. In the city center, a Bentley sped along the empty streets, brushing the speed limit all the way, finally coming to a halt with a screeching brake in front of a villa.

A tall, long-legged man with an aggressive aura got out of the car, slammed the door shut with great force, and strode into the courtyard without pausing.

It was late at night, yet the villa was still brightly lit and bustling with people.

“Shiyu, don’t be anxious. We’ve already sent people to look. I believe there will be results soon.”

Lin Shiyu kept his face taut, asking in a deep, expressionless voice, “Why did no one tell me something happened to Ah Yu?”

Mrs. Lin opened her mouth to say something, but Father Lin, sitting in the main seat of the sofa, slammed his teacup down with a bang and spoke unhurriedly, “I was the one who told them not to tell you.”

Lin Shiyu’s fingers clenched into fists, veins bulging at his temples. His voice was squeezed out through his teeth. “Why?”

Father Lin snorted coldly. “Don’t you know why? Look at how old you are, yet you’ve achieved nothing. Do you know what people outside say about you? Your career finally showed some improvement out of town; instead of producing results to show—”

Before he could finish, Lin Shiyu interrupted him. He stared unblinkingly at Father Lin, his anger peaking, stripping away any mask of politeness. “Compared to Ah Yu, a career counts for shit. He will always be number one to me. Nothing can compare to him.”

Father Lin was so enraged by this disrespectful attitude that his mouth twisted. He slapped the table fiercely and shouted, “Lin Shiyu, who do you think you’re talking to? Watch your attitude!”

Lin Shiyu stood quietly in place, his face full of sarcasm. “Of course I know who I’m talking to. But you, instead of caring about your beloved heir and whether he’s made the Lin Corporation bigger and stronger, why are you suddenly concerned about a second-generation wastrel like me?”

These words poked Father Lin’s sore spot. His face contorted ferociously for a moment, but he was rendered speechless. “You—”

Lin Shiyu, however, put on a cynical smile again, as if his anger had passed. He said lightly, “I apologize to you. It is indeed my fault today. You have no obligation to tell me about Ah Yu’s affairs. I shouldn’t have lost my temper at you because of this. However—”

Mid-sentence, his tone shifted. “Since I’m back today, I’ll tell you one more time. I have no interest in anything belonging to the Lin family, nor do I have any intention of laying a finger on it. Likewise, please don’t interfere in any of my affairs from now on.”

With that, he turned and strode out without any lingering attachment.

“Oh my, Shiyu, it’s so late, where are you going? Auntie has already made a midnight snack…”

“No one is allowed to stop him. Let him get out—”

Moments later, the sound of a car engine starting came from outside.

The speed remained at 80 km/h, which counted as reckless driving in the city center, but fortunately, it was midnight, and there were barely any cars on the road.

Lin Shiyu drove back to his large flat in the city center. One hand on the steering wheel, he dialed a number with the other, not caring at all if he was disturbing the peace at this hour.

The phone rang twice before being picked up slowly. “Second Young Master Lin is in good spirits, not sleeping in the middle of the night—”

Lin Shiyu interrupted the sarcastic pleasantries from the other end directly, asking in a deep voice, “Where is Ah Yu right now?”

The person on the other end gave a faint scoff, his tone becoming increasingly indifferent. “Second Young Master Lin is truly well-informed. Let me calculate… it’s already past twelve o’clock. That makes it the fourth day since Ah Yu went missing. The day lilies are completely cold by now. I’m really curious, what are you coming back for at this time?”

Lin Shiyu’s patience had reached its limit. Coincidentally, there was a red light ahead. He slammed on the brakes, stopping just before the crosswalk. He punched the steering wheel heavily and said darkly, “Surname Gu, cut the fucking sarcasm. I’m asking you, has the person been found yet—”

Gu Yanxiu replied, still unhurried, “What do you think?”

That meant he hadn’t been found.

Lin Shiyu took a deep breath. Stepping lightly on the gas as the light turned green, he suppressed his temper and asked, “So? It’s been four days. Do you have any leads?”

There was silence on the other end for two seconds before Gu Yanxiu said coldly, “No.”

Lin Shiyu muttered “Useless” under his breath and hung up the phone with a snap.

Gu Yanxiu stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window holding his phone for a while. He tossed the phone onto a nearby table, his gaze falling back onto the computer screen, his expression terrifyingly gloomy.

The 360-degree, dead-angle-free, high-definition night vision cameras were running non-stop. Any movement in the room would be captured by them.

Naturally, he also clearly saw the person he longed for being held in another man’s arms, intimate whispers shared, sleeping on the same pillow.

On the other side, immediately after hanging up, Lin Shiyu dialed another number.

This time, the call didn’t even go through.

Lin Shiyu looked at the time blankly. It was just past twelve. Ah Yu was still missing; how could that person sleep?

Refusing to believe it, he continued to dial. But every time, after three rings, it automatically hung up. The only response was a cold mechanical female voice: Sorry, the number you have dialed cannot be connected at the moment, please try again later.

“Fuck—”

Wen Yuhuai thought he wouldn’t be able to sleep, but he actually fell asleep not long after. When he woke up again, there was no one beside him. He touched the spot; it still held some warmth. He didn’t know when the person had left.

The lights in the room were on. A thermal lunch box sat on the small coffee table nearby; it looked like breakfast was inside.

He had eaten a bit too much yesterday, so Wen Yuhuai wasn’t very hungry. He threw off the covers and got out of bed slowly, going to the bathroom to relieve himself first.

After dawdling inside for a while and cleaning himself up, he returned to the room in his bathrobe, unhurried, and opened the thermal box to take a look.

This look brought a bit of surprise to his eyes. Inside, stuffed in a dazzling array, were several types of breakfast: steamed rice rolls, shrimp dumplings, seafood porridge, soy milk, siu mai, and fried dough sticks. All were his favorites.

Wen Yuhuai thought quietly for a few seconds, then decisively sat down and began to eat. Iron needs steel, and people need food; skip a meal and you panic from hunger.

Without electronic devices, it was too boring. Halfway through eating, Wen Yuhuai began to speculate wildly about who the pervert locking him up might be.

Not only did he have a certain understanding of his social relationships, but he even knew his dietary habits clearly. Maybe it was even an acquaintance.

Crimes committed by acquaintances were the most terrifying. The more Wen Yuhuai thought about it, the harder it was to swallow. He put down his chopsticks, his mind replaying Andy Lau’s line from a certain movie over and over: There’s a ghost raised beside you, did you know? You raised a ghost and didn’t even know—

He really didn’t know. He would rather be stabbed in the back by a stranger’s knife!
