Chapter 39: “He is too weak, and so are you.”
Shen Zhuo glanced back at Du Xun sitting on the judge’s seat.
The man gave him a barely perceptible smile.
“Hey.”
Shen Zhuo’s peripheral vision flashed brightly.
“Losing focus is not a good habit.”
Xun Qing still chose the butterfly knife, as he was highly skilled with this type of small weapon.
Shen Zhuo leaned back, and the butterfly knife just grazed the area where his throat had been.
That angle and force were no joke.
Xun Qing wanted to kill him.
Shen Zhuo immediately took a light leap back.
The attack failed, and Xun Qing flicked the butterfly knife a few times, the blade dancing on his fingertips, apologetically saying:
“Sorry, my hand slipped.”
Shen Zhuo stood a short distance away.
His gaze suddenly went from puzzled to clear.
Oh.
So that’s how it is.
The unsheathed Tang Heng sword was finally gripped by a slender and fair hand.
A crisp “click” resounded.
The straight long sword hummed as it was drawn.
Xun Qing gave a slight smile.
It seemed he had already seen the young man stepping into the trap.
But in the next second, the Tang sword “swished” out of his hand!
It flashed by like a shooting light.
With a sharp, piercing whistle—
It stabbed into the first row of the audience seats, right next to Feng Ming’s hand.
The blade sank deeply into the seat, just less than two centimeters from his palm.
Feng Ming had a fist-sized object in his hand, which rolled to the ground in his shock.
Shen Zhuo’s throwing motion with his right hand had not even finished.
He didn’t even glance at Feng Ming’s pale face.
“Sorry,” the young man spoke, “my hand slipped.”
Xun Qing’s expression changed slightly.
But then he saw that Shen Zhuo’s hands were empty.
Chance!
The butterfly knife struck again, Xun Qing’s speed was very fast.
But just as it was about to reach the young man, he suddenly found no one there.
“Hey.”
The cold voice came from above.
Xun Qing’s pupils shrank, and he hadn’t even had time to move his gaze.
The shadow loomed from above.
The young man’s figure in the air was beautifully graceful.
Hair brushing his face, robes fluttering.
His eyes were a dark ink color in the shadow of the light, yet they reflected a cold light in Xun Qing’s eyes.
The next moment, Xun Qing was directly pressed to the ground by the neck.
It was an almost irresistible force.
His wrist suddenly ached, and the butterfly knife was forced to be released, falling into another hand.
Shen Zhuo flicked the knife a few times, the blade suddenly gripping downward.
Raising it slightly, aimed at the rare A-rank gland.
Just as he was about to stab down—
Xun Qing’s distorted face was pressed into the ground, suppressing a roar:
“Don’t forget the bet! If I can’t complete the exam, you won’t get the oracle either!”
A few centimeters from the gland, Shen Zhuo stopped.
He almost forgot.
The blade tip rotated, turning to aim at Xun Qing’s neck instead.
Ruining Xun Qing’s gland for revenge, it was not as good as the oracle.
Of course, he wanted both.
“Tell Feng Ming,” Shen Zhuo’s expression was calm, looking down from above, “not to use those self-righteous tricks in front of me.”
“Too much self-confidence is not a good thing.”
The young man pressed the blade closer to that vulnerable skin, until a few drops of blood flowed out, “He is too weak.”
He looked at Xun Qing, whose eyes were possessed and deranged on the ground.
His expression was as calm as an ancient well:
“So are you.”
——
The exam proctor blew the whistle, and the penultimate round of the non-elimination ranking ended.
The audience: “……”
“Fuck, is he a D-rank omega?”
“Who said he got in by selling his ass?! Is he really Shen Zhuo? Didn’t he used to follow the Second Prince like a dog just a few years ago??”
“Did you see how he dealt with 19 alphas yesterday? That was fucking awesome, just 10 seconds.”
“Who the hell spread the rumor that he’s a flower vase?!”
“I apologize for my previous words, please, please don’t let me run into Shen Zhuo in the mecha test!”
“Those who said Shen Zhuo got in through connections, aren’t they just jealous? He still has to do this?”
“Wow, can he really fly? Is his ability to hover a type of stagnant flight?”
Shen Zhuo listened to the public opinion reversal, the corner of his mouth curling up slightly.
He watched as Xun Qing left, clutching his wrist.
Doing too many bad things will always backfire.
Isn’t that right?
The final match was against a tall, long-haired alpha wearing gold-rimmed glasses.
Ai Li had been defeated by this alpha in the previous rounds.
Shen Zhuo narrowed his eyes.
He felt like he had seen this person somewhere before.
But also like he hadn’t.
Just as someone was returning the Tang sword to Shen Zhuo, the alpha suddenly said:
“Long time no see.”
Shen Zhuo: “……”
Before the final round whistle blew, the alpha raised his hand and smiled at Shen Zhuo:
“I concede.”
Shen Zhuo sheathed the Tang sword and glanced sideways at the alpha: “I don’t know you.”
“How heartbreaking.” The alpha feigned hurt, but his face was truly smiling:
“Can I take you to lunch? Maybe you’ll remember me.”
Shen Zhuo turned and walked away after sheathing the sword:
“I’m not interested, and there’s no need.”
The alpha didn’t try to stop him, quietly watching Shen Zhuo’s back.
The bewitching allure that couldn’t be hidden by the glasses was made refined and cultured by the well-tailored clothes.
His narrowed, upturned eyes curved slightly, and the smile on his lips widened.
“You will remember me.”
Ai Li came over and pulled Shen Zhuo, ready to go eat.
Halfway there, he was still complaining about the events of the day’s battle.
But Shen Zhuo felt this guy might have something he hadn’t told him.
Suddenly, Ai Li saw someone.
“Your sweetheart is here.” He poked Shen Zhuo’s arm.
Then he saw the alpha.
His eyes lit up.
“Shen Zhuo, the alpha behind there is piercing my heart!”
Shen Zhuo looked up, and Du Xun was being led by a group of people towards the chancellor’s office.
Two people in front seemed to be explaining something to him.
The alpha listened quietly with a lowered gaze, not voicing any opinions.
Behind him, Ji Weishen was taking notes, his calm and steady questioning tone putting considerable pressure on the two.
Shen Zhuo found it difficult to associate this person with the one who had loudly called “sister-in-law”.
Why do all these people have two faces?
“Mature men are more charming, that stinky tofu kind of naive little virgin can’t compare.”
Ai Li fixed his hair, “The young master will pursue his own happiness.”
Shen Zhuo: “……”
Not going to burst the bubble.
Some things, perhaps need to be discovered by oneself to be better.
“It’s hard to judge.” Shen Zhuo patted the omega’s shoulder, “Good luck to you.”
Just then, Du Xun suddenly looked up.
Across the distance, his gaze locked unerringly with Shen Zhuo’s.
“Explain to me again after the mecha test this afternoon,” the alpha finally spoke the first sentence, his cold tone commanding without anger,
“I hope you’ve prepared your words, the lies now are too low-level.”
The two responsible persons immediately stammered, daring not to utter a word.
Du Xun was the actual director of the Ares Military Academy’s direct headquarters.
He had usually given them a lot of autonomy, but they had found a loophole.
It was time to get things in order.
After saying that, Du Xun strode towards another office building.
At the same time, Shen Zhuo’s phone rang.
【From: My Alpha】
【Would you be willing to join me for lunch?】
Ai Li’s eyebrows twitched.
“Okay, you forgot your friend for a pretty face! Then I’ll go find my own happiness!”
Shen Zhuo sighed with amusement, turning towards Du Xun’s office.
He followed from a distance, and when there was no one around, he knocked on the office door.
There was no sound from the office.
Shen Zhuo frowned, thinking something might have happened.
Just as he reached for the doorknob.
A strong scent of rosemary wafted out from the suddenly opened door crack.
Shen Zhuo’s vision darkened.
His wrist was grabbed.
