Chapter 22: Indeed Didn’t Die Cleanly
Yun Wuxiang stuffed a Heart-Clearing Pill into Prince Li’s mouth, instructed Mo Yang to continue watching these two, turned to find Prince Xuan who had fainted on the ground hugging the broken mirror, and earned 300 energy points from him.
The pale pink Love Gu was round and plump. At first glance, it didn’t look like an insect, but more like a semi-transparent heart ball made of rubber.
[This Love Gu looks quite cute, different from what I saw before.]
3339 was both afraid of bugs and curious. It peeked at the Love Gu and found this little thing wasn’t scary at all, resembling a gummy candy.
[What did the Love Gu you saw before look like?]
Yun Wuxiang looked at the Love Gu crawling out of Prince Xuan’s fingertip. He casually picked up a chopstick from the table nearby and poked it. The Love Gu rolled over with a gulu sound. Its chubby body struggled hard to get up, possessed a stupidly cute comical sense.
[Similar to this, but much uglier. Like the difference between the old Emperor and a cute child.] 3339 tried its best to describe the feeling it wanted to convey.
[That is indeed quite ugly.] Yun Wuxiang poked the Love Gu twice more with the chopstick—one poke, one round sit-up.
[Host, what do you plan to do with this Love Gu?]
3339 looked at the Love Gu with novelty. This thing counted as a rare species. Its previous host wanted to keep that ugly Love Gu as a pet but gave up regretfully after being strongly rejected by the bug-fearing 3339.
However, this Love Gu didn’t look scary. If the Host wanted to keep it, it could accept it.
Just as 3339 persuaded itself, it heard Yun Wuxiang say without any attachment: [Kill it.]
As he spoke, a streak of fire flashed past, delivering a scorching warmth to the Gu worm. Sensing the threat, the Love Gu struggled to run a short distance before being burned to ash by the chasing flame.
The flame reflected in the depths of Yun Wuxiang’s eyes, yet the burning color failed to add a trace of warmth to those eyes.
Gu, such wicked things, were better burned clean.
Prince Xuan woke up amidst the sizzling sound of burning fire. Piercing pain came from his ten fingers, causing his facial features to scrunch together, instantly putting on a mask of pain.
His hands were covered in cuts from the broken mirror shards. The depth of the wounds matched the intensity with which he had hugged the mirror earlier; the deepest ones exposed white bone.
More terrifying than the pain was that he could no longer feel the existence of several fingers.
“My hands!” Prince Xuan looked at his hands in disbelief. The burning pain suddenly subsided a lot, as if a gentle breeze had brushed past, taking away the pain.
He felt all his fingers again. He opened and closed his hands twice before breathing a sigh of relief.
“The Love Gu on you has been removed. Next, do one thing for me.”
A voice light as drifting clouds, like wind passing through branches, came from above. Prince Xuan followed the corner of the white-based, black-edged ink-wash long robe upwards, meeting a pair of empty, indifferent eyes. His mind cleared abruptly.
Love Gu removed… Prince Xuan lowered his head to glance at the broken bronze mirror he had stuffed into his chest to protect. Remembering his obsessed, cherished behavior toward this broken mirror earlier, his face turned dark, and he picked up the bronze mirror and threw it on the ground.
There was no need to say more about the Love Gu.
With a look of bad luck, Prince Xuan stood up and said to Yun Wuxiang, “Just say whatever matters you have, Excellency. Nothing is more important than my clear mind and sound hands. This Prince will remember this favor in his heart.”
“As long as it isn’t bringing disaster to the country and people, or beyond my power, this Prince will definitely help Excellency achieve it.”
Yun Wuxiang nodded slightly and said, “Shen Lanqing has aptitude. I intend to take him as a disciple, but he has developed feelings for Prince Li, becoming tainted with worldly karma.”
The dissatisfaction hidden within his calm demeanor when speaking these words didn’t even need faking.
Prince Xuan, who grew up amidst deception and schemes, didn’t sense any falsehood after listening. He believed eighty to ninety percent on the spot, and his train of thought naturally jumped to a darker angle. He asked tentatively, “Is Excellency asking me to take action to sow discord in their relationship?”
“Cultivators should sever dust-bound ties,” Yun Wuxiang said ambiguously, then gave Prince Xuan a look to interpret for himself.
Prince Xuan revealed an I understand smile: “I understand. No third person will know about this matter.”
Seeing that insidious smile on his face and recalling this person’s unscrupulous style in the original novel, Yun Wuxiang added another sentence: “Do not involve others, adding unnecessary karma.”
Prince Xuan’s thoughts of alienation tactics, honey traps, and badger games one-two-three-four suddenly stalled. He then euphemistically expressed: “This… if I don’t send people, it’s not appropriate for me to go to Prince Li’s Manor.”
Yun Wuxiang: “Just probing from the side is enough. If they persist in love, their bond stronger than gold, then it is simply not meant to be for me.”
Prince Xuan’s brows gathered quickly, then relaxed just as fast. This matter had no downsides for him.
If the two broke up, Prince Li would be distracted by heartbreak, and he would have an opportunity.
If it didn’t work, the person in front of him wouldn’t help Prince Li anymore, and might even dislike Prince Li because of Shen Lanqing.
[Host, are you helping Prince Xuan follow the plot?] 3339 asked.
[Just giving the original villain a bit of confidence.]
Yun Wuxiang explained to the System: [The situation in the Immortal Realm is unknown. Mo Yang, the bodyguard, cannot be removed for now.]
[After this experience, with Prince Xuan having no cultivator assistance while Prince Li has Mo Yang, he will be wary and dare not act against Prince Li as in the past.]
3339 felt it completely understood.
[Now Prince Xuan already sees the Host as an accomplice. He will definitely continue to oppose Prince Li in the future, just like in the original plot.]
[Mhm.]
After giving Prince Xuan a talisman as a communication tool and signaling him to leave quickly, Prince Xuan also knew it was inappropriate to stay longer and left very quickly.
After he left, Yun Wuxiang swept a glance at the broken bronze mirror on the ground. Opening his hand, the bronze mirror flew into it on its own.
[System, what material is this bronze mirror made of?]
This bronze mirror survived the heavenly lightning; its material must be extraordinary. Seeing that even Song Yilou’s bones were charred to ash while this mirror didn’t even have a scorch mark, it was obviously much more solid than Song Yilou.
[Host, wait a moment, I’ll scan it.]
A moment later, the System’s mechanical voice sounded: [Scan complete. Item material: Horn of a Heaven-Rank Illusion Demon. Attributes: Illusion (Damaged), Illusion Breaking (Incomplete), Inner Demon Reflection (Incomplete). Mirror Spirit dead. Can be reforged in a furnace to craft a magical artifact.]
[Horn of an Illusion Demon.] Yun Wuxiang looked at the bronze mirror in his hand. The cold metallic texture transmitted through his finger skin didn’t feel like the horn of any creature at all.
[System, there is an Immortal Realm here, so is there a Demon Realm?]
[Yes, Host. Immortal Realm, Demon Realm, Demon Beast Realm are collectively called the Upper Three Realms. The middle is the Mortal Realm, and below is the Underworld.]
Yun Wuxiang: [Can people from these places come to the Mortal Realm?]
[Normally, no one should come over. The Mortal Realm has rule restrictions. Anyone from any realm who comes over will be suppressed and turn into a mortal. Ghosts and the like can’t even manifest and can only inhabit objects.]
3339 complained: [Suppressed like this, with the possibility of dying at the hands of mortals—who would want to come over?]
[Really don’t know what these Immortal Realm people came down to disrupt the plot for.]
For what? Naturally, there were sufficiently tempting benefits to prompt them to take risks.
Zhao Sihai had a restriction on him. Asking him wouldn’t yield anything; the restriction would kill him before he could speak the truth.
[Doesn’t matter. Those who come down to cause trouble, just kill them all.]
Yun Wuxiang didn’t have a strong desire to get to the bottom of things or deduce the truth. He only needed to know if what these people did would affect his goal.
Whatever they did had nothing to do with him. Anyone hindering him from accumulating energy to go home was a dead person.
Killing intent unconsciously overflowed slightly. Through the reflection of the broken mirror surface, Yun Wuxiang saw his eyes turn slightly red.
Moved killing intent again. This wasn’t good. A modern person living in a peaceful country shouldn’t constantly think about killing people.
On the bronze mirror, a wisp of Yin energy flashed.
Inside the mirror.
“La la la la, Guanzhu picked me up~” Song Yilou sang a strangely shaped song, shaking his head happily.
“Ahhh, so noisy! Shut up for this Palace! With the bronze mirror picked up by him, how can your subordinates come find us?” Princess Shunming’s ears hurt from his noise, full of resentment.
Song Yilou nodded, but his reply was completely irrelevant: “Right, Guanzhu only needs to pick me up, so you get out.”
Before Princess Shunming could react, her soul body had already left the mirror.
She was met head-on by a giant talisman paper falling from the sky, wrapping the entire ghost inside.
The bewildered Princess Shunming: Song, I f** your*****
Yun Wuxiang shook the talisman paper in his hand and asked, “Princess Shunming, shall I send you to reincarnate?”
Princess Shunming hurriedly said, “Wait! Song Yilou isn’t dead! Do you want to kill him completely?”
“You promise not to kill me, and I’ll tell you where Song Yilou is hiding!”
Yun Wuxiang replied coldly, “No need.”
After folding the talisman paper in his hand several times and pasting two layers of sealing talismans on it, a round sealing ball was born.
Putting away the sealing ball, Yun Wuxiang looked at the bronze mirror in his hand and knocked on the surface: “Song Yilou, come out.”
Princess Shunming appearing from the bronze mirror suddenly—she wasn’t a fool, so she wouldn’t walk into a trap herself. Naturally, someone was playing tricks. Was there even a need to ask who could do such a thing?
On the largest piece of the broken mirror surface, a few crooked words floated up: [If I go out, I’ll die~]
Yun Wuxiang looked at those words. While spitting on the Heavenly Dao in his heart, he actually felt somewhat relieved.
Song Yilou’s appearance before dying gave Yun Wuxiang a persistent feeling that this guy hadn’t died cleanly.
Now looking at it, indeed, didn’t die cleanly.
