Chapter 54: Snow Mountain Divine Crane White
Through Yun Wuxiang’s research, he discovered that the formations in the Burning Sea Secret Realm were exceedingly numerous—or rather, the entire Burning Sea Secret Realm was the work of a certain Grandmaster of Formations.
The entire Secret Realm could be divided into ten zones.
The Core Area: stable, devoid of any animals, consisting only of a silent forest.
And the nine zones where the array eyes were located. So far, Yun Wuxiang had only found the exact location of one array eye. The other eight array eyes were like phantoms in his perception—visible but intangible. You knew of their existence, but they weren’t in the location you saw.
It was like a game of hide-and-seek played with space and light and shadow.
Although the array eyes were hidden, they still existed upon the formation itself, like nine beads on a spiderweb.
Yun Wuxiang controlled one of these beads, and by extension, a part of the web. When another bead was touched, he could use the tremors of the web to discover the other’s location.
Before setting out, Yun Wuxiang looked at the motley hair colors of the demons and pondered whether he should dye his hair too.
The moment he said this, it immediately triggered a strong recommendation from 3339: 【White is the hair color with the most deterrence! As a Host who is an otherworldly expert, this hair color matches the ‘otherworldly expert’ vibe the best! I have a white hair mimicry package here, guaranteed that no one will discover your hair is fake white!】
【This is the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought, and I bought it but never used it! Host, you must try it!】
Yun Wuxiang: So why did you spend the most expensive energy value to buy a useless package?
Under 3339’s enthusiastic anticipation, Yun Wuxiang used the package it mentioned. His head of long black hair instantly turned into a silky, bird-feather white. However, it seemed the dye ran out after two-thirds, leaving the remaining third black.
【This white isn’t right. Why is there still a black section? Ah! I bought the wrong one! I was wondering why the Limited Edition Snow Mountain God White Hair was so cheap; this is Snow Mountain Divine Crane White.】
Yun Wuxiang lifted a lock of long hair before his chest: [Not bad either.]
Divine Crane… the same color scheme as the red-crowned cranes (Dan Ge). It was much more pleasing to the eye than the flashy, colorful heads of those demons.
With his hair color changed, Yun Wuxiang headed toward the location of the array eye.
Before coming, he had prepared himself for encountering demons.
But… why?
Why was the Three-Headed Python here, spitting lightning and thunder at a high tower suspected of housing the array eye, its snake tail whipping frantically?
【Host, that tower is so sturdy.】 3339 wore sunglasses as it watched the python whip the tower.
[Where the array eye lies, it is naturally secure.]
If the array eye could be demolished by the demonic beasts in the Secret Realm, this realm wouldn’t have survived until now; it would have been smashed to crumbs long ago.
Outside the tall ancient tower, predominantly purple in hue, the furious Three-Headed Python roared. The hideous giant snake mouth spat out lightning containing terrifying power. As the lightning fell, the world was filled with earth-shattering, astonishing thunder.
An Earth-rank demonic beast failed to escape in time; swept by the lightning, it was instantly blasted into a charred lump.
Watching this scene, Yun Wuxiang determined that the probability of slipping in right under the Three-Headed Python’s nose was zero unless he was a Sky Demon who could tank a few hits from the python without dying.
Now, how was he going to get inside under the python’s watch? Go find the Six-Clawed Peng Bird?
Not really viable. The Six-Clawed Peng was also Heaven-rank. Luring a Heaven-rank beast at his current speed was too dangerous. He wasn’t Song Yilou; he didn’t have many lives to waste.
Since luring the tiger away from the mountain wouldn’t work, he could only enter directly. Yun Wuxiang pondered for a moment and drew a Teleportation Talisman. Although he was still a bit far from fully mastering Basic Composition of Spatial Tunnels I, it wasn’t like he had gained nothing.
Teleportation Talismans were originally for random teleportation to escape during crises. Now, he could try to lock onto a teleportation point within a certain field of vision.
Moreover, he had already tested it on Song Yilou. Teleporting inside a ruin building was no problem, though the landing point inside might deviate slightly.
Hopefully, there aren’t too many demons inside the tower right now, and preferably, I won’t land in a pile of them.
Thinking this, Yun Wuxiang activated the Teleportation Talisman. His vision shifted, and before his eyes was a mass of black… the back of demons’ heads.
【So many people… no, so many demons.】 3339 whispered: 【What are they doing? Why are they all looking at one place?】
Two distinct voices in the field were shouting at each other across the space. Yun Wuxiang listened to roughly two sentences and deduced the current situation: [Infighting. Ignore them.]
Two groups of demons were in a standoff, and the other demons’ attention was also on this, which meant no demons would disturb him finding the array eye.
Yun Wuxiang’s gaze swept roughly over the scene inside the tower. He judged that this should be the first floor. There were no stairs inside the tower; above was a sealed stone ceiling.
Logically speaking, there should be a passage leading to the upper levels.
His gaze wandered, landing on an empty section of the wall.
Yun Wuxiang approached the wall. A glint of light flashed in his pupils, and the outline of a door appeared in his eyes. On the ordinary wooden door, several formations were inscribed, exquisite and unparalleled.
On the topmost layer of these formations, there was a Concealment Array. Compared to the original formations, this Concealment Array appeared rough and clumsy, like someone had pasted a cloth with childish scribbles over a master’s painting.
Yun Wuxiang bypassed this array to observe the original magic circle on the door. Sure enough, it was a Teleportation Array.
While he was deciphering the formation, the demons behind him were still arguing.
Violent lightning rushed toward the high tower, only to be blocked outside by an invisible barrier.
Using the tower door as a line: outside the door lay a pile of unrecognizable meat paste; inside the door were two half-corpses of demons. After the lightning flashed, the meat paste outside had turned into scorched earth.
The crowd of demons looked at the two corpses, faces filled with the relief of survival.
Just a little bit more, and they would have become that patch of scorched earth or the half-dead corpses at the entrance.
“Everyone, we can’t get out now. Don’t you want to know who caused us to fall into this predicament?” The speaker was a very beautiful male demon. When he spoke, many demons lost their focus.
Currently, this beautiful demon wore a smile on his face, a smile mixed with anger. “Why is this Heaven-rank demonic beast only chasing us? Who among you provoked it?”
He asked the question, but his gaze looked toward a certain spot, locking onto a target.
“Man She, what do you mean by looking at me?” The targeted demon showed shock and anger. Whoever provoked the giant python would become the target of public criticism from all demons present. Having such dirty water splashed on him would be the end.
Man She’s beautifully shaped lips parted: “I wasn’t talking about you. Move aside a bit, don’t block the way, okay?”
The demon moved his position while looking behind him. There was a team of Illusion Demons—five demons standing in a protective stance around a young demon in the center.
The Illusion Demon youth: “Man She, although you and I have always been at odds, isn’t this baseless slander a bit excessive?”
Man She: “Slander? That thing you were holding in your arms earlier—dare to take it out for a look?”
“That thing was an egg, right? Huan He, you stole the egg of that Three-Headed Python outside!” Man She said with certainty. His voice carried a natural enchanting quality; as soon as the words were spoken, the demons present already believed more than half of it.
Huan He’s face was full of indignation at being framed. “That was a Phantom Feather Beast’s egg! And it already broke earlier! Are you saying the demonic beast outside kills even its own child?”
“It’s precisely because the egg broke that the Three-Headed Python refuses to leave. It wants revenge on you.”
Man She spoke as if it were fact, as if he had witnessed the entire process. “Everyone here came to find opportunities and treasures. Who is willing to be trapped in this tower by a demonic beast, hiding pitifully until the Secret Realm closes, leaving with nothing?”
“Throw Huan He out. Maybe after the Three-Headed Python kills the culprit and takes its revenge, it will leave.”
All the demons looked at Huan He, their gazes unfriendly. Huan He felt the ominous stares around him, his heart turning cold.
“Have you idiots not realized you’ve fallen for that guy’s Charm Art yet?” A Illusion Demon beside Huan He shouted.
The demons laughed dismissively. Their minds were very clear; how could they have fallen for a Charm Art?
Huan He remained angry, the killing intent in his eyes freezing into ice. “Stop shouting. You can’t wake them up.”
As Man She’s old rival, he knew this Incubus’s methods. The demons in front of them had their emotions triggered by Man She and had fallen into his miasma.
“Prepare the illusion… Who is that?” Huan He suddenly looked behind the crowd of demons. Among the many hostile glares, he saw a figure with its back to the crowd.
“Drop it. We’re old rivals; did you think I’d fall for such a simple diversion?” Man She said, sidestepping behind another tall demon while turning his head toward the direction Huan He was looking.
A white-haired demon stood behind the crowd, back facing everyone. Even under the gaze of so many eyes, he didn’t turn his head. He simply placed his hand on the door in front of him and pushed lightly. The door opened.
Then he stepped through, not giving the demons behind him a single glance throughout the entire process.
Huan He stared at that back view, glanced at the surrounding demons, and made a prompt decision: “We follow him.”
The group of Illusion Demons walked toward that door. Only then did a few demons among the rest wake up as if from a dream.
“Who is that white-haired demon? Do you know him?”
“Don’t know him. was he there when we came in just now?”
“Don’t know.”
“And when did that door appear?”
Seeing the figures of the Illusion Demons disappear, the demons had only one thought left to ponder: “Should we follow?”
“Follow! We can’t get out anyway. Are we going to stay here until the Secret Realm ends if we don’t follow?”
“Let’s go. Coming to a Secret Realm but too cowardly to even enter a door?”
Some demons were initially hesitant, but seeing more and more demons entering the door, they couldn’t sit still either. Soon, the door, only wide enough for two people, was crowded with demons.
“Boss, aren’t we inviting the Incubus beauty?” A lecherous demon didn’t forget to look at Man She before leaving.
“If you want to be a scapegoat under his command, go yourself.” The leader of the small group had now sobered up from the anger he wanted to vent. He cursed inwardly; he had almost become a knife in that Incubus’s hand.
What kind of idiot would still be thinking about lust at a time like this? Keeping such a subordinate would definitely drag him down sometime.
The demon who suggested inviting the Incubus looked at Man She with regret. He didn’t notice the cold indifference in his boss’s eyes when looking at him.
Man She chuckled lightly and actively walked toward the demons crowded at the door. “What is everyone rushing for? That demon who suddenly appeared might be our biggest enemy. None of us know his background, nor even when he came in. Don’t you feel panic?”
“I am quite panicked. Huan He chased after him so actively, clearly thinking to ally with that white-haired demon. Everyone, think carefully. We offended Huan He to the extreme just now. If a fight breaks out, do the strength of one or two demons suffice to last two moves under Huan He’s hand?”
“Shameless Incubus! We offended Huan He clearly because of your provocation!” A demon shouted the inner thoughts of the group.
Man She smiled tenderly as water. “So what? It’s not like it’s been only a day or two since I targeted Huan He. Is it strange?”
“If you don’t cooperate with me, do you think that petty Huan He who seeks revenge for the smallest grievance will spare you once we get out?”
“Perhaps you won’t even need to wait until you get out. Everyone will be taken out by Huan He right here, remaining in the Burning Sea Secret Realm forever.”
…
The second floor of the tower was no longer empty, nor was it a cylindrical space. Instead, it was a long corridor with many rooms on both sides. Some demons opened the doors and saw many treasures.
Only a sporadic few demons entered the doors. Most demons didn’t enter; they watched the white-haired figure walking at the very front, maintaining a distance while following behind him.
【Host, those demons followed you up. Won’t letting them follow ruin things?】
3339 couldn’t understand. Its host originally had a Concealment Talisman on him. As long as he wasn’t attacked, no one could discover him. Yet, after unlocking the formation on the door, the host peeled off the talisman himself.
[It will, but it won’t be my things that get ruined.] A group of demons who couldn’t even discover the door—what could they do to him in this tower full of formations?
Yun Wuxiang was certain that an array eye was inside this tower, but he couldn’t sense the specific location.
The guy who discovered the array eye placed a Concealment Array on the door precisely because he didn’t want to be disturbed. This coincidentally proved he was in a place where he was very likely to be discovered.
As long as a demon found that guy, they could interrupt his progress in refining the array eye.
Or wait for him to trigger the array eye again, and Yun Wuxiang could find the other party’s existence. The only problem was, he wasn’t clear on the opponent’s strength.
True Demon? easy fight. Earth Demon? requires some brainpower. Sky Demon… not sure, depends on luck.
Author’s Note: Demon Realm new skin online. I personally love white hair, striving to give every protagonist in my books a white-haired look.
White hair, red eyes—absolute classic!
