The Temple Master Always Wants to Make an Early Appearance chapter 65

Chapter 65: I Think You’re Getting Carried Away

Song Yilou’s chest full of battle intent was instantly cleared out by the Tianqing Fruit. He looked at Yun Wuxiang with numb eyes: “Temple Master, this fruit is poisonous. I’m going to wither away.”

Yun Wuxiang glanced at him and began to count down: “Three, two…”

Bang!

A giant vine lashed out. Song Yilou leapt up, weaving through the dense thicket of vines.

The vines protecting Mu Miao carried him to Mu Mian’s side. Song Yilou stepped on the long vines, leaping nimbly, and rushed in front of the two demons in the blink of an eye, swinging his blade toward Mu Miao.

Mu Mian controlled the long vines to block the slash. His eyes, which had become serene and peaceful after eating the Tianqing Fruit, instantly reignited with ferocity.

The embers of war instantly flared back to life.

Song Yilou swung his saber at Mu Miao several times, all of which were blocked, disrupting Mu Mian’s combat rhythm.

“Bringing a weakness into a fight, are you afraid of not losing fast enough?”

Song Yilou’s smile widened. The crescent ghost mark on his forehead transformed into a half-moon. The red light flickering in his pupils was demonic and unbridled.

Mu Mian sneered, “Mu Miao is not a weakness. You don’t know shit!”

After exchanging two more blows, a trace of mockery appeared on his face: “You put the Master of the Illusion Tower behind you without even looking back, and you feel at ease?”

“Very at ease.” Song Yilou continued to swing his saber without turning his head. “If you have the capability, go ahead and tear that cage apart.”

Clang!

The long saber clashed with the hard wooden vine.

The vines slammed into the bars of the birdcage.

The birdcage didn’t budge an inch. Helpless, the vines bypassed the bars and drilled into the cage.

“Explode.”

The enhanced explosive talismans engraved on the bars well in advance detonated instantly.

The tree vines twisted a few times in the flames, then stubbornly continued reaching toward Yun Wuxiang.

Yun Wuxiang overlapped his hands, forming a hand seal. Demonic qi, so pitch-black that not a single ray of light could penetrate it, flowed out from his body and swirled around his fingers as he formed the seal. His half-lowered eyes opened slightly: “Under the azure sky, I alone am supreme.”

“Slash.”

As his voice fell, a pitch-black ring, so thin it seemed to have no thickness at all, rapidly expanded with Yun Wuxiang at the center, slashing horizontally in all directions.

Quiet, fast, and without any majestic momentum. After the strike, it was as if nothing had happened.

The tree vines were still moving. The long thorns at the tip of the vines brushed past Yun Wuxiang’s cheek before their forward momentum halted.

Half a second later, the tree vines began to shatter bit by bit from the tips. After one long thorn shattered, the entire vine completely disintegrated, collapsing like a weathered antiquity.

Sensing the Demonic Phoenix Qi through those shattered vines, Mu Mian cried out in horror, “What kind of power is that?”

“Wow, a move I’ve never seen before! The Temple Master never used this on me. He was going easy on me~” Song Yilou’s face was full of intoxicated joy, and his attacks grew even more excited and ruthless!

Mu Mian looked disgusted: “Absolutely nauseating!”

“The Temple Master really doesn’t want to kill me anymore.” The warmth in Song Yilou’s smile plummeted. “His killing intent is getting lower and lower. It’s all your fault. If you extraneous existences weren’t here, his gaze wouldn’t shift away from me, and I wouldn’t have to end this game so quickly.”

“Sicko!” Mu Mian and Mu Miao cursed at the same time.

In another space, the Black Mist Bird opened its eyes when Yun Wuxiang executed his move, a trace of disgust flashing in its double pupils.

That emotion was like seeing an unreliable acquaintance put on an incredibly domineering facade. Even though the person’s image was indeed majestic and overbearing, in the eyes of an acquaintance, it was just a giant, glaring “PRETENTIOUS.”

“That fellow Tianqing’s moves are as arrogant as ever.”

“Using demonic qi to execute the Qingdi Record, and this reckless temperament is exactly like Tianqing. Indeed, a successor she would take a liking to.”

The Black Mist Bird let out a cold snort of breath and criticized: “Ignorant of propriety.”

Yun Wuxiang swallowed the bloody taste surging up his throat. Every meridian in his body stung, as if a herd of hedgehogs covered in razor blades had run a lap through his veins.

Alongside the pain came a sense of relief, as if the nails buried in his wounds had finally been cleared out. But this fragile relief was quickly overwhelmed by pain and emptiness, and the exhaustion of being drained swept over his entire body.

He switched cultivation methods, picked up a Tianqing Fruit, and started munching.

His mana was depleted, and his fiendish qi level was too low to be of any use against a Mo Jun.

The Demonic Phoenix Qi was unexpectedly potent, but it had just been used up as well. However, it didn’t matter. There was plenty of Azure Heaven Qi here. With his demonic qi exhausted, he could now smoothly use the Tianqing Record.

As Yun Wuxiang munched on the fruit and healed his injuries, Song Yilou was intensely chasing and hacking at Mu Mian. The chaotic and hurried sound of footsteps approaching from afar indicated that the demons who had been teleported away were running back again.

The running demons slammed on the brakes when they saw the cage where Yun Wuxiang was. They stopped in the distance to watch. Then, Lu Tu was escorted to the front of the group.

“Lady Lu Tu, are there still arrays ahead?” a demon asked.

Lu Tu looked at the ground and gave a confirming reply: “Yes.”

She immediately provided a solution: “Attack the ground, dismantle them directly.”

“Yes!”

Yun Wuxiang watched the demons in front of him roll up their sleeves and smash the ground with all their might. He picked up a Tianqing Fruit and popped it into his mouth. Though he appeared to be eating slowly and methodically, calm and unhurried, he was actually eating incredibly fast, continuously casting Rejuvenation Spells to try and repair his damaged meridians.

Take your time smashing; don’t rush.

Hearing the noise, Mu Miao shouted across the distance, “Just attack directly! He doesn’t have much mana left, he can’t activate the teleportation array!”

The demons were half-believing and half-doubting. As time passed, the power of those demons who had been hit and consented to the sacrifice continued to drop. The situation didn’t allow them much time to think, and this portion of demons took the lead in charging toward the birdcage.

Yun Wuxiang shifted his gaze to the Mu Mo guarded by the giant vines. Noticing this look, Mu Mian pulled Mu Miao closer to protect him.

The long saber aimed straight for his head. Mu Mian made an emergency evasion backward, the tip of the blade slicing right past his eyes, shaving off some flying strands of hair.

Song Yilou’s blade swept past, then he reversed his grip, raised it high, and brought it down heavily.

“Why are you looking at the Temple Master? I’m not even allowed to look back at him, what right do you have?” Song Yilou complained in dissatisfaction, swinging his saber forcefully under Mu Mian’s twisted gaze that clearly diagnosed him with brain damage.

If he wasn’t happy, no one else was allowed to be happy!

The blade fell, striking the demonic vine and carving a long gash.

A sharp axe swung, smashing into the birdcage with a gust of wind, letting out a muffled thud. The bars didn’t budge, and the demon wielding the axe was knocked back a few steps by the rebound.

Before that demon could steady himself, the crimson longsword pierced towards his vitals, nimbly penetrating his flesh. The blade withdrew, and with a flick of the chain, the demon was tossed toward the demons charging from behind.

The casualties of their kin didn’t make these demons retreat. Not all the demons had acquired the Tianqing Fruit. Under the influence of the Duohong Qi, some demons had already reached the brink of madness.

“Kill!” Those bordering on insanity charged forward.

“We haven’t been teleported away! The teleportation array really can’t be used anymore! Charge!” Those who still had some reason also pressed forward.

Amidst gazes filled with killing intent, madness, greed, and brutality, Yun Wuxiang began to chant the Heart-Clearing Mantra. His elegant and pure voice was like a pool of clear water, washing away their chaotic and restless emotions, bringing a profound peace to the hearts of those who heard it.

All the demons’ eyes glazed over. There was no other reason; their intense emotions had suddenly plummeted. The feeling was like being on a war-drum-beating battlefield one second, and appearing in a temple filled with curling Sanskrit chants the next. Anyone would be momentarily dazed by such a violent contrast.

The Heart-Clearing Mantra amplified by the Azure Heaven Qi had an excellent calming effect.

“Turn.” A familiar word snapped them back to reality, and the scenery before their eyes shifted once more.

The first emotion that bred after their minds were calmed was a breakdown.

“We’re back again!”

“Cough…” Yun Wuxiang couldn’t hold back a cough, raising his sleeve to cover his lips. A few drops of red liquid fell to the bottom of the birdcage.

Forcefully circulating his cultivation to activate the array before his meridians were fully healed meant the previous Rejuvenation Spells were cast in vain.

“Mu Mian!” A heart-wrenching scream tore through the air from above.

Yun Wuxiang lifted his eyes. Song Yilou cleanly and decisively pulled out the long saber embedded in the Wood Demon’s chest. Slanting the blade downward, beads of blood flew off. Every movement carried the unbridled arrogance of a victor: “Your Shenfu wasn’t built very sturdily, was it?”

After saying that, he added as if to step on him while he was down: “The Shenfu the Temple Master built for me is exceptionally good.”

Mu Miao hugged his heavily injured twin brother, his fingers frantically wiping away the blood welling out of his mouth: “Mu Mian…”

Mu Mian grabbed his hand, staring at him, his voice weak: “Eat me, survive.”

The hand wrapped around Mu Mian clenched tight.

Song Yilou took a step closer. The giant vines suddenly surged up, smashing him down from the sky. Dust flew up, forming yet another crater in the ground.

Yun Wuxiang looked down and met eyes with the head popping out of the crater. The other party flashed a grin showing bright white teeth, eagerly saying: “Temple Master, I won. Hurry up and call the Black Mist Bird out.”

“…” I think you’re getting carried away.

Yun Wuxiang really didn’t know where Song Yilou got the confidence to think he could single-handedly take on the Black Mist Bird. There were massive disparities even among Jie Jun, gaps as vast as the heavenly chasm. Mu Mian was also a Mo Jun, yet he could only be manipulated by the Black Mist Bird to come to this place.

Song Yilou was only at the Tian Rank right now, and his cultivation had been obtained by taking shortcuts and cheating. Yun Wuxiang genuinely couldn’t think of any way, other than detonating the secret realm’s array core, for this cultivation realm to severely injure the Black Mist Bird.

Also, what made Song Yilou think that he could just call the Black Mist Bird out?

Yun Wuxiang: “We can’t even find the target, what are you going to fight?”

You can’t even find the bird’s shadow, and you still think you can win?
