Chapter 32: The Unreachable Cold God (7)
The next day.
Mei Heng, arriving in class with a sour face, looked even sourer after seeing Huo Xian. Perhaps due to yesterday’s defeat, he didn’t openly provoke Huo Xian this time, but instead slumped over his desk, facing away from him.
Of course, to think he had calmed down would be a big mistake.
[Huo Xian, there’s a snake in your backpack. It’s non-venomous.] After P.E. class in the afternoon, as Huo Xian returned to the classroom and reached the doorway, Huo Yuan noticed something unusual and reported it to him.
Huo Xian didn’t ask who put it there, but asked, [Will detecting the snake and confirming it’s non-venomous consume points?]
[No, no, safety checks within ten meters of the host are permitted. But I think a ten-meter radius is too small, it should be at least a hundred meters!] Huo Yuan expressed his dissatisfaction.
[Perhaps you can give feedback to the agency?] Huo Xian suggested.
Huo Yuan immediately agreed: [I think so too. Humans in low-dimensional spaces are fragile; a car accident can take someone’s life. Even if I detect danger within ten meters, you might not be able to avoid it if the car is going too fast.]
Huo Xian: […] He felt that he was healthy, had quick reflexes, and should be able to dodge something within ten meters.
After a few more words, Huo Xian sat down at his seat. He drank some water, waiting for Mei Heng to return before reaching for his backpack.
Huo Yuan reminded him, [Huo Xian, be careful.]
Huo Xian: [Relax, I’ll be fine.]
The snake, confined in the backpack for a whole class period, attacked as soon as it sensed movement. At the same time, Mei Heng’s eyes gleamed like light bulbs. The snake was non-venomous, but if it bit Huo Xian or frightened him pale, he could still get his revenge.
However, Mei Heng’s wish was once again dashed.
He didn’t even know how Huo Xian did it. It seemed as if in the blink of an eye, the snake was grabbed by Huo Xian at its seven-inch point, and then, the slippery, cold feeling wrapped around his neck.
“Haa… haa… haa…” Mei Heng looked at the snake wrapped around his neck, the screams of the girls in the classroom completely filtered out. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he rolled his eyes and fainted.
It’s estimated that Mei Heng himself never expected that his revenge plan, or rather, prank, would ultimately backfire on him.
After Mei Heng was sent to the school infirmary, He Wenqu said with a green face, “Huo Xian, you can’t be his deskmate anymore. Today it’s a snake; tomorrow, who knows what other messy things will happen.”
Huo Xian shrugged, nonchalant: “I don’t mind.”
…
Huo Xian didn’t care, but He Wenqu did. He went to the homeroom teacher, who was also troubled by the incident. However, the biggest concern wasn’t Mei Heng’s prank, but that Mei Heng fainted from fright after being wrapped around the neck by a snake in school, and his parents were demanding compensation.
Mei Heng’s grades weren’t actually good enough for Experimental No. 1 High School, but the school had places for students who paid, and the Mei family had money, even donating a building to the school. Mei Heng’s parents were people the school leaders would give way to, and they had spoken to him: as long as Mei Heng’s misconduct in class wasn’t serious, they could turn a blind eye.
Unfortunately, Mei Heng was trouble!
Then came Mei Heng’s troublesome mother. She strongly demanded that Huo Xian be expelled.
“Huo Xian, don’t worry, I will definitely help you get justice!” He Wenqu solemnly promised.
Huo Xian looked up at him, his expression cold. “Why should you help me get justice for my own affairs?”
He Wenqu seemed to be taken aback, saying awkwardly, “Aren’t we good friends? And it was Mei Heng who started this, you are the victim. Why would his parents demand that the school expel you?”
Huo Xian narrowed his eyes. Although helpful people aren’t usually disliked, he didn’t need it.
“He Wenqu, though I’m sorry to say this, we are not good friends.” Huo Xian said calmly. As he spoke, He Wenqu’s expression turned incredulous. Huo Xian continued without pause, “I think through everything I do and will bear the consequences. Please don’t interfere in my affairs, thank you.”
At these words, He Wenqu felt a surge of anger. He considered himself open-minded and kind, but Huo Xian was the first person who made him feel distant. Before, he thought Huo Xian was only cold on the outside, but deep down there must be some warmth. But now he suddenly realized he didn’t understand Huo Xian at all. This person’s heart was even colder than his appearance, and… annoying.
“Do you think everyone has nothing better to do than to meddle in other people’s business? Do you think I’m bored?” He Wenqu squeezed out the words through gritted teeth, his eyes slightly red with anger.
But Huo Xian remained unmoved, his expression calm: “It’s better that way.”
He Wenqu was about to explode with anger, his face clearly showing his sarcasm: “Consider this my face being slapped, and finding my own misery. From now on, I have nothing to do with your affairs, okay?” Having said that, he turned and left.
As soon as he left the classroom, He Wenqu ran into the gloomy homeroom teacher. He instinctively stopped, and the next second, he heard the homeroom teacher shouting into the classroom: “Huo Xian, come to the office with me.”
He Wenqu’s clenched fist tightened. Seeing Huo Xian walk out of the classroom calmly, his indignation was stuck in his throat.
The other person doesn’t need it, so why bother sticking around?
He Wenqu also had a proud temper and his own dignity. At worst… at worst… he could secretly help when Huo Xian couldn’t handle it?
Even with that in mind, He Wenqu couldn’t help but complain to his good friend Yu Zi’an. Regardless of Yu Zi’an’s mood, Huo Xian still had to deal with the Mei family’s troublemaking.
He had no intention of making He Wenqu his subordinate; otherwise, he could easily win Mei Heng’s favor by simply helping him during the fight or playing a game with him.
But was it necessary?
Wasn’t being an unsympathetic, cold god good enough?
In the office, Mei Heng’s mother—a beautiful woman in her forties but well-maintained, looking like she was in her twenties—glared at Huo Xian as he entered, but paused slightly when she saw the boy’s elegant and indifferent face.
People are visual creatures, and Mei’s mother came from a wealthy family. Ignoring Huo Xian’s excellent appearance, it was his temperament that truly caught her attention. Ordinary families couldn’t raise a child with such an aura.
Therefore, when she demanded compensation, her attitude wasn’t as sharp: “Expulsion isn’t necessary, but you must personally visit Mei Heng’s home with your parents to apologize.” The attitude wasn’t harsh, but the condition was very harsh.
At least, it was incredibly harsh in Huo Xian’s opinion.
But the homeroom teacher and the vice principal of the Disciplinary Committee didn’t think so. The vice principal, a middle-aged, overweight man surnamed Chou, immediately said after hearing Mei’s mother’s condition, “That’s right, that’s right. It was just a prank between classmates, but Huo Xian went too far and should apologize.” He winked at Huo Xian, meaning that if he didn’t want to be expelled, he should agree.
However, Huo Xian’s reply was: “I refuse.”
As soon as these three words came out, the homeroom teacher, Vice Principal Chou, and Mei’s mother’s expressions all changed. Vice Principal Chou’s face changed the fastest. Before Mei’s mother could get angry, he persuaded, “Huo Xian, you were wrong in the prank; an apology is only natural. I heard you’re the monitor of Class 9. As a monitor, shouldn’t you set a good example and bravely admit your mistakes?”
To this, Huo Xian asked, “Was I the one who started the prank?”
“You wrapped the snake around Mei Heng’s neck; that’s not just a simple prank.” Vice Principal Chou said sternly.
Huo Xian ignored him, calmly looking at Mei’s mother, his voice cold: “The snake was Mei Heng’s doing. He put it in my bag. In terms of pranks, Mei Heng started it. I simply used his methods against him.”
Mei’s mother’s expression turned cold: “You mean you refuse to apologize?”
Huo Xian asked back: “May I ask where I went wrong?”
“Huo Xian!” Vice Principal Chou snapped.
Huo Xian looked at him coldly and said calmly, “Even if the school expels a student, there must be a justifiable reason. If a student is expelled without reason, I have the right to report it to the education bureau or file a lawsuit.”
“Justifiable reason? You wrapped a snake around your classmate…”
“Vice Principal Chou, do you not understand human language?” Huo Xian impatiently interrupted him, his aura instantly changing. Not only Vice Principal Chou, but even Mei’s mother was surprised by his change. Huo Xian looked down at Vice Principal Chou from above, his tone icy: “I will repeat it again. The snake was Mei Heng’s doing. He who starts the provocation suffers the consequences.”
After he finished speaking, the Disciplinary Office fell into an eerie silence.
Vice Principal Chou’s face was unsightly, the homeroom teacher was sweating profusely, but Mei’s mother, after a moment of anger, calmed down. While she was a protective mother, she wasn’t blindly protective. After cleaning up her son’s messes, she would usually educate him at home, but the results were not significant.
To be fair, Mei Heng fainting from the snake couldn’t be blamed on Huo Xian. She was simply used to taking the high ground to “seek justice” for her son, but it was clear that Huo Xian wasn’t one of those boys who would bow their heads easily. Moreover, Mei’s mother could see that Huo Xian wasn’t afraid of the Disciplinary Committee director’s threats, which came from his confidence.
This student had some background. Mei’s mother quickly drew this conclusion and quickly recalled which families in Haicheng had the surname Huo…
“Vice Principal Chou, is there anything else?” After a long silence, Huo Xian broke it. “If not, I’ll go to class.”
“Class?” Vice Principal Chou sneered. “You still want to go to class? Call your parents. Wait until your parents arrive. Now, you stay here and reflect!”
Huo Xian slowly narrowed his eyes. Huo Yuan couldn’t stay calm either: [Huo Xian, this fat man is unreasonable, I’ll teach him a lesson!]
[Don’t…] Huo Xian quickly stopped him, but it was too late.
He saw Vice Principal Chou, who had been standing perfectly fine, suddenly seem to have a cramp in his leg. With a cry of “Ouch,” he suddenly lifted his leg, and the other leg couldn’t support his chubby body. He reached out to grab something to support himself, grabbing the homeroom teacher. The homeroom teacher was caught off guard, hastily supporting himself against the desk. Unfortunately, Vice Principal Chou was too heavy, and the homeroom teacher couldn’t hold himself steady. When he fell, he knocked over the teacup filled with hot tea on the desk.
The two fell in a heap. Vice Principal Chou let out a muffled “thud” when he fell, showing how heavy he was. The homeroom teacher fell on him, causing him to yell in pain, then hot tea splashed on his face, burning him.
The homeroom teacher scrambled up, trying to help Vice Principal Chou up, but stepped on his fat hand, causing him to scream again in pain.
Mei’s mother almost lost her composure.
Huo Xian suppressed the urge to twitch his lips and asked helplessly: [Huo Yuan, how many points were deducted?]
Huo Yuan answered triumphantly: [Not many, just 100!]
Huo Xian: …
Author’s Note: Xian Ge: I’m going to go bald worrying about my wife’s points in the future.
Yuan Yuan: Ha, haha [Nervous.jpg]
PS: Suddenly feel that Yuan Yuan using points is like a wife frantically swiping her husband’s credit card hahahahahahaha
