Chapter 10: Now You Know to Be Afraid
Mu Feng slowly repeated his words: “As long as I want to, you’ll let me win.”
He was certain Liang Yuhang could do it.
But in a situation where he didn’t want to perform exceptionally well, if he deliberately suppressed his score and went against him, wouldn’t that result in a stalemate?
The result would only be that no matter how Teacher Liang taught, it would be useless.
He would probably be angry enough to doubt life and never interact with him again.
Liang Yuhang: “So, give me your answer.”
Mu Feng found another excuse: “I feel like it would delay your work.”
“That doesn’t sound like you.” Although Liang Yuhang had just met him, he could faintly sense a resilience in his character; he wasn’t someone who belittled himself.
He raised an eyebrow slightly: “Do you have unspeakable difficulties?”
Mu Feng’s heartbeat skipped a beat. Too smart.
He didn’t know if he should answer: “I… let me think.”
Too much showing off would arouse suspicion from the Mu family; scoring too poorly would make Liang Yuhang lose face. This multiple-choice question was hard to answer.
Liang Yuhang rarely spoke more than necessary: “Mu Feng, I don’t insist you go. I’m just fulfilling a promise. If you regret it, we can pretend this agreement never happened.”
Of course, Mu Feng knew he wasn’t indispensable; countless people would be willing to let Liang Yuhang teach them.
Going this far was purely because Liang Yuhang was a gentleman, nothing more.
Fate had already favored him greatly.
With such a good opportunity to spend time together, if Teacher Liang had a “special period,” and he could take the opportunity to enter his room, wouldn’t that be amazing?
As for other things, he would cross that bridge when he came to it.
“I’ll go. See you tomorrow, Teacher Liang.” Mu Feng looked up, having made his decision.
Liang Yuhang nodded slightly, turned, and left.
Time was tight. Mu Feng had many preparations to make: the cat-transformation reagent, Alpha suppressants, Omega disguise pheromones, nutritional supplements for Liang Yuhang, and, in the worst-case scenario, sedatives for a susceptibility period within the base.
A full box.
He sent a message to Jiang Yuan: Xiao Jiang, looks like I’ll see you after the summer vacation. Don’t miss me too much.
[yuan]: ??? You got grounded too?
[M]: Locked in the base with Teacher Liang.
[yuan]: ……………Vacation is starting soon, and you’re rushing to find trouble for yourself, going to a hellhole no one wants to enter even for reincarnation?
[M]: Anyway, you’re locked up by your brother too, no one to play with me during the holiday.
[yuan]: …………………People’s hearts are too cold, I dare not touch. Haven’t settled the score with you yet, traitor!
[M]: Good luck 🙂
Mu Feng lay there for a few hours, too excited to sleep. He went back to the dorm to get some changes of clothes, filling a large suitcase.
[Teacher Liang]: Sent you the address. Go there yourself.
Mu Feng looked at the message, indignant: “So aloof, didn’t even come to pick me up.”
The place was quite far, located in the open suburbs. It seemed to be a temporary modification of another base—a towering semi-circular building resembling a giant blue planet.
“Hello, please show your ID. Students enter on the left for security check, enter in order.” A mechanical voice played on loop.
Mu Feng saw some familiar faces, almost all regulars on the excellence list. Beating them wasn’t hard; the difficulty lay in how to balance, not showing off too much while making Liang Yuhang happy.
“Mu Bao!!!” A familiar voice came from behind. Mu Feng turned around to see Jiang Yuan looking like he was attending a funeral.
He couldn’t help laughing: “Who said this morning they wouldn’t come even if they were reincarnated?”
Jiang Yuan ground his teeth: “Dragged here forcibly by my brother. He said it’s closed off for a few months, afraid I’d go out and mess around.”
Mu Feng was in a great mood, reaching out to pat his shoulder: “Thank you. At least I’m not last place. Second to last doesn’t seem so shameful.”
“You, look down on whom?” Jiang Yuan looked serious. “Since I’m here, I absolutely won’t lose face for my brother. Sorry, this last place can only be you.”
Score-control master Mu Feng stifled a laugh: “Fine, then do your best.”
“What attitude.” Jiang Yuan was very dissatisfied. “I won’t go easy on a brother.”
Hearing the conversation, a green-haired guy in front turned his head and said, “What are your average scores for the semester? I heard everyone coming is a big shot, so scary.”
“He’s 62, I’m 60.” Jiang Yuan was very candid. “Green-hair bro, the hair is cool. Did you get cheated on recently?”
“Coming to the base with these scores? Backdoor entry, right?” Green Hair said expressionlessly. “Passing-grade bro, this color is just my personal preference.”
Mu Feng laughed uncontrollably: “Very unique. I’ll dye mine pink another day to match you.”
“You sure know how to talk. If you were an Omega, we could share a dorm.” Green Hair was quite familiar.
Mu Feng hooked his arm around Jiang Yuan’s shoulder and shook him: “Passing-grade bro, how about it?”
Jiang Yuan rolled his eyes: “Sure, kill you both in the middle of the night.”
They chatted and laughed as they entered. Professor Zhang Luyan was looking down at student records. When he looked up, his smile froze: “Are everyone possessed by ghosts recently? Three students on the verge of passing actually came.”
“Three?” Jiang Yuan turned his head to look at Green Hair. “You just passed too!!!”
“No way, my average is 68, much better than yours.” Green Hair was very calm. “I have a good relationship with my mentor; asked him to bring me to broaden my horizons.”
Mu Feng almost wanted to applaud.
This dorm, Crouching Dragon and Phoenix Chick were all assembled. Very good, he could now control his score to stabilize at third from last.
Zhang Luyan wanted to grab those elites with water in their brains and ask them one by one, are you all crazy from doing research?
He turned his head and said to his assistant with heartache: “Add a rule to the mentorship guidelines next year: average score below 98 not allowed to join confidential base practice.”
Nothing else, just pure hate.
Green Hair had an excellent mindset: “In that case, we are the last lucky ones. So nice.”
Mu Feng was just about to say something when he saw Liang Yuhang from a distance, his attention immediately diverted.
Today he was wearing a white lab coat over a high-quality white shirt with a slender, neat black tie. On his face hung those rimless glasses he usually wore at home, exuding a very abstinent sexiness.
Ah, uniforms… have a unique flavor.
The only thing out of place was beside the suitcase: Mumu in a backpack, and 0717 with a worker’s sorrowful face.
A cat and a penguin, looking very unhappy, almost as if the whole house had moved here.
“Mu Feng.” Liang Yuhang called his name as a greeting.
How can someone say a simple name so nicely? Mu Feng couldn’t control his legs at all, striding over: “Brought them both?”
“Right, right? You also think my life is bitter, right?” 0717 complained. “Thought I could enjoy a nice two-month vacation.”
Liang Yuhang was ruthless: “Noisy again, and I’ll make you mop the entire base during the day.”
0717 raised a hand in a zipping-mouth gesture: “Very unhappy to serve you, Mr. Liang.”
Mu Feng seemed to have a very good attitude: “Teacher Liang, I, on the other hand, am very happy to serve you. Call me if you need anything, on call anytime.”
0717 muttered on the side: “Then you should be a robot, the chosen worker body.”
Liang Yuhang said: “Probably can’t.”
Mu Feng’s face fell halfway: “Why not?”
“He’s very busy. The Medical Control Team is on the top floor, you’re on the ground floor. Can’t see each other every day,” 0717 explained resentfully.
Liang Yuhang looked down at the schedule: “I’ll find time to tutor you.”
Mu Feng gave an “oh,” feeling it wasn’t quite as he imagined.
Fortunately, he had premeditated and brought the reagent. He could still turn into a cat and sleep with him at night, though it was inconvenient with roommates.
“Okay, when you’re free, send me a period, and I’ll come find you.” Mu Feng quickly adjusted his mindset.
Liang Yuhang raised an eyebrow: “Didn’t you say you didn’t want to study?”
Mu Feng took out the four-character mantra: “Since I’m here.”
Liang Yuhang was indeed very busy; he was called away after just a few words.
Mu Feng could only follow his roommates back to organize housekeeping. Until lights out, he didn’t receive the period from Liang Yuhang.
He lay in bed. In the next bed, Jiang Yuan was already fast asleep. Green Hair’s light was still on, studying late at night.
“When are you sleeping?” Mu Feng asked in a suppressed whisper.
“Dunno, getting more excited the more I read this stuff.” Green Hair scratched his head. “Sigh, exam in three days after entering. If I knew earlier, I wouldn’t have come. Really don’t want to test last place.”
Mu Feng sighed. Most afraid of slackers who also grind.
With this night owl, when would he be able to go see Liang Yuhang?
Waiting another half hour, he couldn’t bear it anymore. He closed his eyes to feign sleep, and under the covers, skillfully injected himself with the reagent.
This was the third time. His spiritual power seemed to have adapted, becoming faster.
In a daze, he was already sitting in Liang Yuhang’s arms.
“Spit it out.”
His tongue was clamped.
Mu Feng’s mind was full of question marks, looking at 0717 hiding in the corner. What’s the situation?
“It wanted to steal food itself, I couldn’t stop it. Bad cat,” 0717 complained aggrievedly.
Mu Feng opened his mouth, unable to move, his stomach churning.
Fine, dodged neutering, didn’t dodge induced vomiting. Mumu, you win.
Liang Yuhang gripped his chin, commanding in a low voice: “Spit it into my hand.”
Mu Feng had no choice but to lower his head and cough violently a few times. After a while, the thing in his throat finally rolled out.
A small glass marble.
Mu Feng: “…………”
This cat really eats anything. I’m the one suffering in the end.
He looked up and saw Liang Yuhang’s expression become very fierce.
Mu Feng’s throat rolled: “Really angry…”
Usually, Liang Yuhang looked unapproachable, disgusted if anyone got close, but his temperament was actually very stable and didn’t get angry easily. But now, he was obviously angry.
Probably because he was in his own room, he didn’t deliberately suppress it. The emotional fluctuation filled the entire room with a rich aura.
Mu Feng finally knew Liang Yuhang’s scent.
Absinthe.
A deep woody scent, bitter at the top, clear and intense at the base.
Carrying the fierce aggressiveness of an Alpha, like repelling like, making him tremble all over, unable to move.
“Wrong, Teacher Liang.” Mu Feng knew he couldn’t hear, but still spoke subconsciously.
“Now you know to be afraid?” Liang Yuhang coldly lifted the cat, flipped him over, and slapped down with a palm, showing no mercy.
“Twenty times. No dodging.”
