Chapter 38: Truly Super Hard to Coax
Liang Yuhang lowered his gaze, looking at the marks left by the tie on his wrists.
His tone was indifferent. “Fine. Come back with me.”
Suddenly being so agreeable made Mu Feng feel it was inconceivable. Was this still the same Liang Yuhang who constantly said “we need to keep our distance”?
He felt there was a catch.
Mu Feng followed slowly behind him. The man in front suddenly stopped, and he bumped into his back.
“You can walk fine, can’t you? Weak legs?” Liang Yuhang exposed him.
Mu Feng: “…”
Can you please not use all eight hundred of your schemes on things like this!
He gave an awkward smile. “My legs were weak just now. Now I can… walk somewhat normally.”
To cover his embarrassment, he quickly sent a message to Jiang Yu’an.
[M]: I’m going home tonight. Won’t be back at the dorm.
Likely finding typing too slow, he called him directly.
“What are you going back for? To look at those dead faces?”
Jiang Yu’an didn’t know about the past; he only knew that Mu Feng’s relationship with his family was terrible. “I’m wondering if you injected the reagent into your brain.”
It’s truly enough to make one laugh when someone is speechless. Mu Feng said, “You’re the second person to say that to me today.”
“I’ll come pick you up,” Jiang Yu’an said, rolling out of bed.
Mu Feng felt a bit guilty. He had lied to him but didn’t know how to explain.
Just as when he faced Liang Yuhang, he was always caught in one lie after another that he had to keep covering up.
If the truth ever came out, they would probably all hate him and stay far away.
“Don’t go running around. If they freeze your card again, you’ll be broke for the rest of the year.” Mu Feng’s tone was gentle. “It’s fine. I’ll be back tomorrow.”
Liang Yuhang waited for him to hang up before speaking. “Why didn’t you tell the truth?”
“Saying I’m staying with you wouldn’t be good for your reputation,” Mu Feng said.
Liang Yuhang felt his sense of boundaries was truly hit-or-miss. “Then you’re quite thoughtful.”
Having been to the top floor several times, Mu Feng was familiar with the layout. As soon as the door opened, he saw 0717 and Mu Mu engaged in a chaotic battle.
“Ah! Master Mu Mu is here!” Ever since the “0717 Encounter Plan” was named, 0717 had become exceptionally fawning. “Are you here to see me?”
He went over for a hug and made a keen judgment. “Why do you still have the boss’s pheromones on you? Ah! You two had a wild combat session!!!”
Liang Yuhang couldn’t be bothered with him, unbuttoning his shirt. “Shift’s over. You can get lost now.”
0717 gasped.
No denial meant it was a fact!
0717 winked at Mu Feng and gave a thumbs-up. “Rapid progress!”
“Don’t make him angry.” Mu Feng could see that Liang Yuhang was so annoyed with him that he didn’t even want to speak. “I’ll go cook some supper.”
“Wow! You even know how to cook!” 0717’s eyes turned into stars. “But I’m a robot, I can’t eat. I appreciate the sentiment though.”
Mu Feng shattered his fantasy. “It’s for Teacher Liang.”
It seemed he had really angered him with his nonsense; he had to coax him a bit.
0717 looked up at him, saying a line it had heard from somewhere: “You’re such a ‘human wife’.”
“You should read fewer web novels,” Mu Feng commented.
He worked quickly and soon had two steaks pan-seared. Once plated, he even used ketchup to draw a heart.
0717 happily went to knock on the door, shouting, “Your heart-filled supper is here! Come out, come out, I know you’re home!”
“I really think Teacher Liang has a good temper now.” Mu Feng’s tone was serious. “He hasn’t dismantled you yet.”
Liang Yuhang, having changed into loungewear, looked at the plating on the dining table. “You actually did it.”
“Mm. Try it.” Mu Feng handed him the knife and fork.
“Is it for me?” Liang Yuhang paused. “Or for a certain ‘someone’?”
It was obvious—he really cared about being treated as a substitute.
Mu Feng cut the meat before pushing it in front of him. “If you keep speaking so sarcastically, you’ll be OOC (Out of Character).”
Liang Yuhang sat there without moving, simply looking at him with a calm gaze, as if waiting for an answer.
Mu Feng used a fork to pick up a piece and held it to his mouth. “For Liang Yuhang.”
Since they met, he had always called him Teacher Liang. This was the first time he used his full name, as if coaxing him in a strange tone.
Liang Yuhang reached out and took the fork, accepting the gesture. “I’ll eat it myself.”
0717 was already happily recording a video, talking to itself: “These can be played at the wedding later. Pre-set ‘moved to tears’ scenes. The Great 0717 is also a professional.”
Mu Feng propped his chin up and stared at him.
Perhaps his gaze was too focused, as Liang Yuhang looked up. “Don’t look at me.”
“Don’t be so sensitive.” Mu Feng couldn’t help but laugh. “I just like watching others eat the food I’ve cooked.”
Liang Yuhang emphasized the keyword: “Others.”
Mu Feng: “…”
This is really never-ending. If he didn’t know for sure that Liang Yuhang had no interest in him, he’d think he was being incredibly jealous.
Mu Feng laboriously corrected his previous sentence: “I like watching Liang Yuhang eat. Is that okay?”
He hadn’t really dared to call him by his name before, as he always felt the other man was a superior, yet he actually had such a childish side.
A bit cute.
Mu Feng’s lips curled up. He liked it so much he wanted to rub the other man’s cold face.
He’d probably get beaten up by Liang Yuhang.
Then it would be even better.
Mu Feng was already immersed in his own mental images—using a small leather whip would be nice too, and wearing black gloves… that would be even hotter.
“Mu Feng.” Liang Yuhang looked at him as he zoned out while staring at him. “No fantasizing allowed.”
It’s like he has mind-reading powers.
But this fantasy was different from the one he suspected. He thought he was thinking of someone else, but in reality, he just had too many “tricks” he was looking forward to implementing later.
Mu Feng shook his head, looking innocent. “I’m not thinking of someone else. I’m not.”
Liang Yuhang felt something was off.
He sounded as if he were keeping a lover on the side behind his back.
He really had been led astray by Mu Feng.
“Forget it. Think of whoever you want.” Liang Yuhang finished the meat on his plate and stood up. “The base only has one bed. I’ll have to trouble you to sleep on the sofa tonight.”
0717’s eyes widened. “Boss! Do you think you need to take an emotional intelligence course? You’re making him sleep on the sofa? Shouldn’t you two be sleeping sweetly in one bed?”
“It’s not what you think between us.” Liang Yuhang lowered his gaze. “Say another word and I’ll dismantle your head.”
0717 covered its head, feeling as if it had hovered at the gates of hell. “So scary. I can tell he’s in a terrible mood today, but why? The Great 0717 didn’t even put explosives in his coffee today.”
Mu Feng sighed. “I upset him.”
He reached out and grabbed Mu Mu as he scurried past, kneading him indignantly. “He’s still better to you. Even if you make him angry, he forgives you in five minutes. He’s truly so hard to coax.”
“You want to coax him?” 0717 let out a mocking and strange laugh. “I think your Time Retrograde would be easier to succeed at than coaxing him.”
Mu Feng’s expression was solemn. “You clock out first. I’ll think about it.”
0717 looked back with every step; it really didn’t want to miss this exciting drama. It turned and hid around the corner to eavesdrop.
Mu Feng knocked on the door to Liang Yuhang’s room. “Teacher Liang, let’s talk.”
“There’s nothing to talk about.” Liang Yuhang’s tone was very cold. “Aren’t your legs weak? Go lie down.”
“It seems I sometimes say things that might unintentionally offend you.” Mu Feng blinked. “How about this: you set a safe word. As soon as it’s said, I’ll shut up.”
His mouth was too fast; he didn’t even realize what he was saying.
When he finally reacted, Mu Feng blinked innocently. “I meant… a code word.”
“A safe word?” Liang Yuhang looked at him playfully, as if he were getting to know him all over again.
It was as if he were once again wearing that silver chain, waiting for someone to lead him.
“In what kind of scenario do you think we’d need a safe word, Mu Feng?”
Translator’s Note:
Hi everyone! I hope you’re enjoying this chapter of our favorite “white-cut-yellow” Mu Feng and his stoic Alpha god.
A few things from this chapter:
- “White-cut-yellow” (白切黄): As mentioned in the synopsis, this is a play on “white-cut-chicken” (pure on the outside) but “yellow” (slang for dirty/lustful) on the inside. Mu Feng is definitely living up to that here with his “leather whip” fantasies!
- Safe Word (安全词): Oh boy, Mu Feng really put his foot in it. In a “pure” academic setting, he meant a “stop” signal, but in the context of their tension (and Liang Yuhang’s “Daddy” energy), it carries a very different, much spicier connotation.
- Coptis Root (黄连): Used in the idiom “more bitter than coptis.” It’s an incredibly bitter traditional herb.
- Human Wife (人妻): This is a term (often from ACG culture) referring to someone who is very domestic, good at cooking, and taking care of others. 0717 is teasing Mu Feng’s “wifey” vibes.
