Chapter 144: They Say Children Easily Imitate Adults
Lin Qingyue knew he was just being polite; they weren’t familiar enough to talk about everything.
He just smiled. “Senior Brother Ming, I’m not alone. Da Shixiong and Junior Sister Yu are with me. I just didn’t expect to see Senior Brother in the Water Cloud Realm.”
Hearing Ye Jingxian mentioned, Ming Yu smiled and asked, “Did Junior Brother Lin get separated from them?”
“Senior Brother Ming need not worry. I carry the magical artifact my Da Shixiong gave me; I won’t get lost.”
Lin Qingyue shook the bell artifact in his hand. “Senior Brother Ming, Shidi has a question to ask. I wonder if you can enlighten me?”
Ming Yu looked at the two of them on the busy street with people coming and going. “Let’s find a quiet place to sit.”
They found a nearby teahouse, chose a quiet and elegant private room, and ordered a pot of tea.
Tea steam curled up; the atmosphere was quiet and secluded.
Only the faint sound of flowing water and the wind outside the window passed by. The two tacitly remained silent.
Ming Yu brewed tea with elegant movements. After a smooth operation, he poured a cup of tea for Lin Qingyue, then poured one for himself.
“Junior Brother Lin, have a taste.”
Lin Qingyue lifted the teacup and took a sip. “Good to drink.”
Actually, he couldn’t taste any difference at all.
Ming Yu took in his expression completely and smiled. “If Junior Brother Lin thinks it’s good, then drink a few more cups.”
Lin Qingyue took two sips, put down the teacup, and looked up at him. “Senior Brother Ming, I heard from Da Shixiong that you don’t cultivate the Ruthless Sword, but instead learned sword techniques from the Ancestral Master.”
“Our Guizang Peak has various sword techniques. I’m just curious what the sword technique taught by the Ancestral Master is like and wanted to spar with Senior Brother.”
Ming Yu: “If Junior Brother Lin wants to spar, we can have a match after we go back.”
Lin Qingyue hadn’t expected him to agree so readily. For a moment, he couldn’t find words to probe further.
Lifting the teacup for a sip, Lin Qingyue said, “They say coffee is bitter, while tea isn’t that bitter and astringent. I don’t know if it’s true.”
“What is this ‘coffee’?”
“I’m not sure either; haven’t drunk it. Just heard others talk about it. Does Senior Brother Ming not know either?”
Ming Yu shook his head slightly. Lin Qingyue changed the topic. “Senior Brother Ming, has anyone called you Brother Yu (Yu Ge)?”
Ming Yu’s hand holding the tea paused. “Why does Junior Brother Lin ask this?”
Lin Qingyue took a sip of tea. Why does this Senior Brother Ming not speak directly? His Brother Yu didn’t talk like this.
“Seems no one calls Senior Brother ‘Brother Yu’.” Lin Qingyue smiled. “True, just like my Da Shixiong—I haven’t seen anyone call him ‘Brother Jingxian’ either.”
Ming Yu smiled faintly. “Junior Brother Lin is really interesting when he speaks.”
“Is that so? I also think I’m interesting when I speak. When I was young, a big brother who made friends with me also thought I was cute and interesting.”
When Ye Jingxian arrived holding Bai Dou, this was the sentence he heard.
He stopped outside the door. Bai Dou jumped out of his arms instantly and bumped the door open.
Lin Qingyue turned his head to see them, the smile on his face deepening. “Da Shixiong, you guys are here!”
Bai Dou scampered to his side, blinking its round little eyes, puffing its cheeks, and glaring at him condemningly.
Lin Qingyue found it funny and picked it up. “Every day with you; why do you get angry at the drop of a hat?”
While they spoke, Ye Jingxian walked over, sat down beside him, and said to Ming Yu, “Junior Brother Ming.”
“Senior Brother Ye.” The two greeted each other.
Ye Jingxian nodded slightly, sitting upright next to Lin Qingyue. While Lin Qingyue was scolding Bai Dou, Ye Jingxian just glanced at them and continued talking to Ming Yu.
“Why has Junior Brother Ming come to the Water Cloud Realm? Do you have any leads?”
Seeing both martial brothers ask “Why are you here” upon seeing him, Ming Yu smiled. “Visiting a friend.”
Ye Jingxian: “Has Shidi still not found the thing you are looking for?”
Ming Yu was dazed for a moment, then smiled. “I feel it’s soon.”
Lin Qingyue listened in confusion, nudging Ye Jingxian beside him with his elbow. “Da Shixiong, what is Senior Brother Ming looking for?”
Asking Ye Jingxian right in front of Ming Yu was no different from asking the person himself.
“Junior Brother Lin can ask me directly; it’s fine.”
Ming Yu spoke up proactively. Lin Qingyue naturally didn’t stand on ceremony, looking curious. “Senior Brother Ming is always training outside; are you looking for treasure or sword techniques?” Or perhaps looking for someone?
Ming Yu: “Looking for a very important thing. When the time comes, it will naturally be known.”
His mentality is quite good, Lin Qingyue thought. This point is somewhat like his Brother Yu.
“What thing? Can Senior Brother Ming tell us? Maybe someone knows; Senior Brother Ming doesn’t need to search bitterly alone.”
Ming Yu just smiled and didn’t speak. Obviously, only he could find this thing.
With every question Lin Qingyue asked, Ye Jingxian’s grip on the teacup tightened a fraction.
Suddenly, a slight sound rang out. The teacup in his hand cracked.
Lin Qingyue and Ming Yu’s gazes fell on him.
No, is his Da Shixiong this strong? Breaking a cup just by drinking tea?
It’s one thing for someone with great hand strength like Yu Qianqian, but how come his Da Shixiong is like this too?
Ye Jingxian snapped back to reality and realized he had broken the cup in his hand. He subconsciously looked at Lin Qingyue, appearing calm and indifferent on the surface, but feeling slightly guilty and flustered deep down.
Lin Qingyue was silent for two seconds before asking, “Do we have to pay for this cup?”
Ye Jingxian, who thought he was going to say something else, paused. “Xiao Shidi, the tea is more expensive than the cup; no need to pay.”
Lin Qingyue looked at him disapprovingly, his expression solemn. “Da Shixiong, did you forget?”
He pointed at the teacup. “We entered a black shop (shop that rips people off) before. If they tell us the tea set is a set and breaking one means paying for the whole set, wouldn’t we be suckers?”
Ye Jingxian couldn’t quite keep up with his train of thought. “It doesn’t matter, Xiao Shidi. I’ll pay.”
“The point isn’t that. The point is if they make us pay, remember to take this tea set back to Guizang Peak, otherwise it’s even more of a loss,” Lin Qingyue said solemnly.
Ming Yu suddenly laughed. “Junior Brother Lin is truly… exceptionally candid and cute.”
Lin Qingyue sighed. People who don’t raise a bunch of swords don’t know how to save money. Even if you have money, you can’t be scammed like this, right?
Didn’t you see Li Jing has money, yet everyone who sees him wants to scam him a bit?
Luckily he has a conscience and didn’t scam him too hard.
Thinking of this, Lin Qingyue, in a fit of benevolence, decided to give Li Jing some ideas. He couldn’t let him like Luo Wuhen for so long only to lose even his underpants.
Too miserable, simply too miserable.
Ye Jingxian gathered the broken cup pieces. “Xiao Shidi is right. That would indeed be a loss. We must talk to the shopkeeper later.”
Bai Dou looked at them dumbfoundedly. The cup in its hand also fell with a clatter and rolled a circle.
Lin Qingyue saw this and looked at Ye Jingxian. See, they say children easily imitate adults.
