Chapter 30: Only You Could Do Something So Stupid
Lin Qingyue was somewhat tired after the fight. He planned to eat and then go straight back to his bed to lie down. Who knew that Ye Jingxian, who had seemed normal just moments ago, would appear in front of him.
He yawned. “Eldest Senior Brother, is there something you need?”
If there was nothing, please don’t disturb his rest. He had spent the day studying and competing, fighting four people in a row. Lin Qingyue felt that he was simply a genius.
“Do you know your mistake?”
Lin Qingyue was baffled. What mistake? What did he do that was wrong?
“Eldest Senior Brother, what are you talking about?”
Seeing that he didn’t have the slightest realization of his error and looked completely blank, Ye Jingxian’s face sank even further.
Not understanding what he was talking about, Lin Qingyue prepared to walk around him. “Eldest Senior Brother, make way, I need to rest.” It was really rude to disturb someone’s rest.
“You did it on purpose today,” he stated with certainty.
Lin Qingyue paused in his steps and didn’t move forward. “What does Eldest Senior Brother want to say?”
So what if he deliberately provoked them? So what if he relied on his cultivation to beat people up? What could be done about it?
People with cheap mouths should know the consequences of having a cheap mouth. He wasn’t some broad-minded person.
Seeing Ye Jingxian frown, Lin Qingyue felt inexplicably angry. Who exactly was his Eldest Senior Brother? He couldn’t even distinguish between closeness and distance. He didn’t feel he had done anything wrong.
“I don’t need Eldest Senior Brother to think; I want me to think. I feel I did nothing wrong. Can Eldest Senior Brother move aside now? It’s very late, time to rest. My health hasn’t fully recovered yet.”
His tone was very aggressive, without a shred of repentance or understanding. Ye Jingxian was inexplicably irritated by his attitude, but then he thought that his Junior Brother was still young, and there was no need to bicker with him.
“When you want to sleep, you know your health hasn’t recovered. But when you were competing with them on the Sword Fighting Platform, what, was your health fine then?”
Hearing the sarcasm in his voice, fire rose in Lin Qingyue’s heart. So what? He just competed with people. His health was fine then. It was fake anyway.
“Who knows why it’s so strange? When competing, my body just felt fine. It’s not like I can control my body.”
“So, you simply didn’t bring your brain.”
You’re the one with no brain. Your whole family has no brains.
Lin Qingyue rolled his eyes internally. “When it comes to having brains, who can compare to Eldest Senior Brother? You don’t just have one brain; you’re covered in them from head to toe.”
“So, can you let me go back to rest now?”
Lin Qingyue side-stepped him and ran toward his room like a wisp of smoke. Not listening, not listening, chanting turtles. He didn’t want to hear him say these things.
Watching his fleeing figure, Ye Jingxian radiated a cold aura. He raised his hand, and Lin Qingyue was blocked by a barrier. No matter which way he tried to go, he couldn’t pass.
Dead tired, Lin Qingyue turned his head in resentment, fire burning in his eyes. “Do you want to let people sleep or not!” He’s torturing me on purpose, right?
His eyes were slightly red, the corners moist from sleepiness, and he stared back while panting heavily. Ye Jingxian was stunned for a moment by his look, but immediately recovered his expression and spoke coldly.
“Do you know the rules of the Sword Fighting Platform? To fight with them so easily… You went up to the Sword Fighting Platform willingly. Regardless of injuries, you bear the consequences yourself.”
“Have you ever seriously thought about it? If you were injured during the competition and damaged your body, we wouldn’t even be able to find a reason to stand up for you. Such a stupid act, only you could do it. If you had any brains at all, you wouldn’t act so impulsively.”
Ye Jingxian said all this in one breath, then threw the item in his hand at Lin Qingyue before turning to leave.
Subconsciously catching the item, Lin Qingyue glanced at what was in his hand. In the blink of an eye, the person was gone.
The other party had given him a jade bottle containing pills. These were the pills Martial Aunt Su had prepared for him, which he had to take every day recently. He was running low and had planned to go get more tomorrow.
Now that the medicine appeared in his hand, there was no doubt Ye Jingxian had gone to get it for him. Lin Qingyue hadn’t missed the long speech the other party just gave.
So, he had misunderstood him.
But could he be blamed? Who asked him not to speak clearly? Opening with an interrogation—anyone who didn’t know better would think he had done something wrong.
“Didn’t speak clearly, scolded me a bit… let’s call it even.”
Back in his room, Lin Qingyue lay on the bed for a long time, turning over again. “What is going on today?”
For the first time here, he tasted the feeling of insomnia. Feeling annoyed, he sat straight up in bed. “He made me so angry I can’t sleep. Is there any justice left?”
After sitting on the bed for a while, Lin Qingyue climbed up. If he couldn’t sleep, it meant he wasn’t tired enough. Moving around a bit would help. He started to meditate and cultivate directly. The result was that the more he cultivated, the more energetic he became. With his body and mind nourished by spiritual energy, he wanted to sleep even less.
Just like that, Lin Qingyue meditated until dawn, immersed in it.
However, in just one night, it seemed like he had returned to that familiar hospital ward. The same cold air, the lifeless manor, the tall room that felt like a prison.
“How did I come back?”
Lin Qingyue’s expression was complex. Not overly happy, nor ecstatic, just filled with emotion.
The sound of an engine rang out, followed by laughter. A family of three walked in happily and harmoniously. The scene was warm and beautiful, contrasting with the empty room like two different worlds in the same space-time, completely out of place.
“Why is he here?”
A childish voice carried innocent malice and unwelcomeness. The woman in the qipao smiled awkwardly, lowered her head, and whispered a scolding.
“Xiao Rui, you can’t be rude. This is your big brother.”
It couldn’t really be called a scolding; there wasn’t much seriousness in her tone. One could even sense the unconcealable doting.
The tall, handsome, steady, and refined man beside the woman spoke up upon seeing this. “Little Yue, why did you come back?”
“Should I not have come back?”
His rhetorical question stunned the man. The woman also looked up from coaxing the child. The group looked at each other, unable to find words for a moment.
The five-year-old boy didn’t understand the atmosphere between them; he only knew that his parents’ attention was constantly on Lin Qingyue.
“I want ice cream! I want Superman! Mom and Dad promised me earlier!”
He suddenly shouted, pulling at the woman and man’s clothes, acting spoiled. “I want to eat it! I want to eat it! I want to eat it right now!”
The woman didn’t hesitate for a moment. She immediately lowered her head and coaxed, “Okay, okay, okay. Don’t fuss. Mom will give it to you right now.”
Once the boy started crying and making a scene, not just the woman, but even the man joined in to coax him, instantly forgetting Lin Qingyue.
He watched with a cold face as they loved each other, completely forgetting his existence. He watched them rack their brains to coax the child, start getting busy with work and housework, yet they never came to take a look at him, nor did they notice anything wrong.
Looking at the medical equipment in the room, Lin Qingyue raised his hand and smashed it all. If he couldn’t smash the big things, he smashed the small ones.
He didn’t know how long he smashed things for. He got a bit tired. Leaning against the wall, panting constantly, the gloom in his heart only disappeared by a small half.
“Only stupid people treat themselves like this.”
Lin Qingyue froze. He heard Ye Jingxian’s cold voice.
