Chapter 9: A Mouth Dipped in Poison
Seeing his master and senior brothers arrive, Yun Jinzhou called out softly.
Qi Yuan, dressed in black robes, arrived beside the Sect Leader. “Sect Leader Senior Brother.”
He first greeted the Sect Leader, then the Sword Guardian Elders, and finally looked at Ye Zhanxiu, calling out indifferently.
“Peak Lord Qi, you came just in time.” Elder Su explained the situation upon seeing him arrival. “This disciple had the opportunity to take a sword in the Ten Thousand Sword Tomb, but he didn’t take one.”
Facing his master’s gaze, Yun Jinzhou lowered his head, glanced at him carefully, and then explained, “This disciple originally resonated with a sword and went to find it personally. Who knew that when I went to take the sword, I would run into Senior Brother Lin.”
He looked at Lin Qingyue as if he had more to say but stopped himself, then continued, “That Cyan Jade Sword was taken by Senior Brother Lin.”
Qi Yuan frowned. Yun Jinzhou continued, “This disciple had a strong intuition that the sword was destined for me, so I didn’t choose any other swords.”
Everyone’s eyes fell back on Lin Qingyue. He touched his head in confusion, asking a question that struck at the soul: “In the Ten Thousand Sword Tomb, doesn’t the sword belong to whoever pulls it out?”
He pulled the Cyan Jade Sword out from the pile of swords. “Compared to those other swords, this one was much easier to pull out. It didn’t take any effort at all.”
Ye Zhanxiu and the Sect Leader were amused by his words. This disciple was truly interesting.
The Sect Leader looked at Ye Zhanxiu; it seemed most appropriate that his Junior Brother Ye had accepted such a disciple.
Ye Zhanxiu: “Qingyue, Master knows you are telling the truth, but as people, we should still be a bit more humble.”
Lin Qingyue looked as if he had suddenly realized something and accepted the teaching with an open mind. “Shizun, your disciple understands.”
Qi Yuan watched the master and disciple echoing each other, and his brow furrowed even deeper.
“Martial Nephew Lin.”
He restrained his emotions and looked at the swords behind Lin Qingyue, then spoke to Ye Zhanxiu, “Senior Brother Ye, how much money would it take to yield the Cyan Jade Sword to Jinzhou? If there is something else you want, we can also exchange for it.”
Ye Zhanxiu, who originally had a trace of a smile, returned to his stern face at this moment. He looked at Qi Yuan. “Junior Brother Qi, this is not my sword. If you want to ask, ask Qingyue.”
Lin Qingyue stood beside Ye Jingxian, pretending not to hear their words, looking completely clueless. He looked at his master. “Shizun, if someone wants my things, do I have to give them?”
Ye Zhanxiu: “You aren’t selling swords. Why must you give them?”
Before Qi Yuan could speak, Shen Yunchuan spoke up to question him first. “But don’t you already have several swords? Besides, this sword is more suitable for Junior Brother Yun. In your hands, it is just an unremarkable sword; you cannot bring out its power.”
Lin Qingyue blinked. “And then?”
Shen Yunchuan: “It’s useless for you to hog it; you might as well sell it to us. Originally, if you hadn’t snatched this sword, Junior Brother Yun could have obtained his own sword without spending a single cent. Now that we are paying for it, Junior Brother Lin is making a huge profit. And to think you are a Senior Brother.”
These words made it sound like Lin Qingyue was taking advantage and acting innocent while they, Sword Dao Peak and Yun Jinzhou, were the ones suffering a great loss.
Yun Jinzhou, seeing his master and senior brother speaking for him, felt happy inside. He said to Lin Qingyue, “Senior Brother Lin, you know that I have an Ice Spirit Root. This Cyan Jade Sword suits me best. What will it take for you to be willing to give the Cyan Jade Sword to me?”
The master and disciples took turns speaking, effectively putting Lin Qingyue on the spot. Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was deliberately targeting Yun Jinzhou.
Given the things he had done in the past because he couldn’t stand Yun Jinzhou, everyone assumed this time was the same—that he had deliberately snatched the sword the other party had his eye on.
Taking it even though he clearly couldn’t use it. There was no need to guess his intentions.
Lin Qingyue finally understood why the original Lin Qingyue in the novel insisted on opposing Yun Jinzhou and the others, and why he hated them so much.
Getting entangled with them was enough to disgust anyone to death. Who could hold back their temper?
“Shizun, Eldest Senior Brother, what do you think of those few small mountain peaks where Sword Dao Peak borders our Guizang Peak?”
Ye Zhanxiu didn’t understand why he was asking this, but he still replied, “Not bad.”
Lin Qingyue looked at Ye Jingxian, signaling him to speak as well.
Ye Jingxian: “They’re alright.”
Having gotten his wish, a cunning glint flashed in Lin Qingyue’s eyes. “Those few small peaks are right next to our Guizang Peak’s territory. Giving them to our Guizang Peak would be the most suitable arrangement.”
Ye Jingxian: “Mn, the location is indeed more suitable for Guizang Peak.”
Shen Yunchuan frowned. “It’s just one sword. For you to open your mouth as wide as a lion (make such exorbitant demands), isn’t that inappropriate?”
Lin Qingyue’s tone was puzzled. “Senior Brother Shen, what do you mean by a lion opening its mouth wide?”
Shen Yunchuan froze. Is it not?
Lin Qingyue continued, “Those few small peaks are clearly within the range of our Guizang Peak. Only if they belong to us can their function be better displayed. How about this: let my Eldest Senior Brother and your Eldest Senior Brother go to the Sword Dueling Platform for a match. Whoever wins gets those few small peaks. Or… fine, our Guizang Peak will pay for them. How much do you want to sell them for?”
As he spoke, Lin Qingyue began to sigh with emotion. “You have to realize, we originally could have obtained those few small peaks without spending a single cent. Now that we are paying for them, your Sword Dao Peak is simply making a huge profit.”
Does this sound familiar? If it sounds familiar, that’s the point.
Lin Qingyue’s little mouth was like it had been dipped in poison, rattling off a barrage of words.
Watching the other party’s face change colors repeatedly, he was exceptionally excited.
How did he, a newly entered disciple, know so clearly about those small peaks?
Naturally, it was because in the later stages of the original novel, when Guizang Peak was cultivating, Ye Jingxian, Wen Hongyu, and the others accidentally destroyed two of Sword Dao Peak’s small mountain peaks.
At that time, out of respect for Ye Jingxian as the Eldest Senior Brother, Yun Jinzhou wanted them to apologize properly and said they wouldn’t need to pay compensation.
Wen Hongyu threw down the money and left. Before coming, she had already explained the whole story and apologized once. She couldn’t be bothered to argue with them, so she simply paid to settle the matter.
Because of Wen Hongyu’s behavior, the male lead felt aggrieved, and his senior brothers spent another round comforting and coaxing him.
Thinking of this, Lin Qingyue shuddered. Scared to death.
It was truly too amusing. Lin Qingyue looked at them with a grin. “Martial Uncle Qi, how is this Martial Nephew’s proposal? Why don’t you broaden your mind and sell them to our Guizang Peak?”
He bared his big white teeth, smiling with a face full of innocence. That appearance made it exceptionally hard for people to hate him.
Ye Zhanxiu felt that his disciple’s method was good. Gaining a few more small peaks for Guizang Peak was a good thing.
“Junior Brother Qi, this Senior Brother thinks this method is feasible.”
Feasible my ass. Qi Yuan was annoyed inside. He didn’t respond to him but looked at the two Elders of the Sword Tomb.
Elder Su and Elder Ma were merely Sword Guardian Elders. It wasn’t their place to intervene in matters between the peaks, nor would they intervene.
Even Elder Su, who felt Lin Qingyue had too many swords and didn’t appreciate them, couldn’t bring himself to ask him to give one away for free. The two of them simply stayed silent.
Qi Yuan turned his head to glance at Shen Yunchuan before speaking to Lin Qingyue.
“If Martial Nephew Lin does not wish to sell, we naturally will not force you. If you wish to sell, you can name a price. You and Jinzhou are disciples who entered the sect together; there is indeed no reason why one must yield to the other.”
Hearing this, Lin Qingyue directly pulled out all the swords, creating a clattering sound.
He spoke with a grin, “Peak Lord Qi, Junior Brother Yun, all these swords are treasures of my heart. I can’t bear to part with a single one. Although the Cyan Jade Sword isn’t considered a top-tier sword, it still deeply wins my heart.”
