UNCONTROLLED STARLIGHT CHAPTER 5

Chapter 5: Shen Jixing: I Have No Parents

Shen Jixing was indeed older than him.

By one year.

Although he always appeared cold, calm, and arrogant, as if he didn’t care about anyone, few of his words were actually true.

Therefore, his downfall—

Was always expected by Zhou Yili.

“Serves you right.”

Under the dim starlight of the night, the man casually pulled a thin velvet blanket over his eyes.

His hoarse, low voice blended into the night wind, “You really deserve it.”

Deserves to fall from the sky.

Deserves to fall into his hands.

The next morning.

Shen Jixing received a threatening call from Pei Ming, urging him to come to the company as quickly as possible.

Or else he’d be dead.

“…”

Shen Jixing sat in the car, gently pressing his stomach. A night’s sleep hadn’t eased the discomfort at all.

He softly replied to Pei Ming, “On my way, arriving soon.”

Top floor of the company headquarters.

The assistant, Xiong Xiong, was leaning against the window, looking down, “There are still so many people outside, will Brother Shen be able to get in?”

“We’ve got people at the back door. The car he’s driving today hasn’t been photographed,” Pei Ming said.

All of Shen Jixing’s cars had been exposed.

Even his private fans knew his license plate numbers by heart.

Who would have thought that he had somehow gotten a new car yesterday and successfully escaped from the event scene?

None of the paparazzi in Lan’an City had found out where he went yesterday.

“You call this a lot of people?”

Pei Ming smoked a cigarette and glanced down, “You didn’t see it yesterday. It was like the six major sects besieging Mount Guangming.”

“…”

Xiong Xiong wanted to laugh, but also wanted to cry.

In the end, he could only squeeze out a cry-laugh expression.

“Alright, stop crying. Go see if he’s arrived yet?”

Pei Ming was also anxious. Shen Jixing had never had such a big incident under his management, and yet the man remained surprisingly calm.

He felt something was odd.

“Brother Shen, Brother Shen, what’s wrong with you?!” The assistant’s panicked voice came from afar.

Pei Ming’s hand trembled.

He quickly stubbed out his cigarette and strode over.

Shen Jixing slightly furrowed his brows, raising his hand to stop the assistant, “Don’t shout. I drove too fast, just a little nauseous.”

Xiong Xiong’s big eyes were teary, “Then I’ll go get you some hot water.”

“Mm.”

Pei Ming looked at the man in front of him, “Are you alright?”

The scattered light outside fell on Shen Jixing, his skin pale almost to the point of transparency.

Like a delicate porcelain sculpture in a shop window that would shatter at a touch.

“If you can’t manage it, go back and rest.”

Pei Ming was ultimately a hard-mouthed, soft-hearted man, “Someone from above came today, probably to make trouble for you, I’ll just say you’re stuck and can’t come.”

Shen Jixing took the hot water from the assistant.

He took a sip, “Who came?”

“The Vice President.”

The most irritable one.

As for the CEO, he was too mysterious; they had never met him to this day.

Shen Jixing quietly drank the hot water, the warm steam covering his cold face, delicate and beautiful like a misty ink painting.

Pei Ming thought he would just take the scolding.

“No need.”

Shen Jixing put down the paper cup and licked his lips, “You can’t handle him.”

After saying that, he strode towards the conference room.

Pei Ming: “…”

Alright, my ancestor.

As soon as they approached the conference room, they heard the Vice President’s cold and angry voice.

“The company feeds you all a bunch of good-for-nothings, are you all here to emit carbon dioxide? It’s been twelve hours since the incident happened, and you haven’t even come up with a decent contingency plan?”

The executives in the conference room trembled.

Silent as chickens.

Did they not want to write one? Last night, they hadn’t even seen Shen Yingdi, and they were just staring at each other, like they were taking the college entrance exam but forgot to bring their pens.

How could they write?

Dare they say that? No, they wouldn’t.

So they continued to be chickens.

But soon, their savior arrived.

“I told them to wait and see.” The door to the conference room was pushed open, and a tall and elegant figure walked in and sat down at the end of the long table.

“Shen Yingdi?”

In an instant, the entire conference room brightened.

As if as long as he was there, they dared to face this irritable boss.

Sure enough, Chu Wen’s expression softened slightly.

He picked up the tea on the table and took a sip, his cold gaze inadvertently sweeping across the young man at the end of the long table.

“What do you plan to do next?”

Shen Jixing leaned back lazily, his demeanor noble and elegant, “Keep waiting.”

“…”

Chu Wen almost choked on his tea.

Pei Ming’s eyes went black, bumping the back of his ancestor’s chair, “Awesome! Why don’t you just say you’re retiring and going home to enjoy your old age?”

To see if he could make the Vice President die of anger.

“I would like to,” Unexpectedly, Shen Jixing answered him.

Pei Ming was taken aback.

Shen Jixing maintained his usual cold demeanor, but Pei Ming could see a blatant… sarcasm in his pale and sharp eyebrows.

Chu Wen’s eyes darkened, but he didn’t speak.

He slammed his teacup on the table, his cold gaze sweeping across the PR department, “What? Do you need me to guide the process?”

The PR manager’s wide grin immediately disappeared.

He scrambled to Shen Jixing, “Shen, Shen ge, can I ask a few questions?”

Unlike other entertainment companies, Shen Jixing had considerable say within the company.

But he was usually easy to talk to.

“Ask.”

“The first question. It’s been rumored that your parents aren’t from a wealthy family overseas, but that you’re…”

“Mm, an orphan.”

Shen Jixing interrupted his stammering and frankly admitted, “That’s right, I have no parents.”

The conference room was in an uproar.

The PR manager’s hand holding the pen trembled slightly, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, he nervously continued to ask:

“The second question. It’s rumored that you graduated from the world’s top music academy, but your name is not on the list of the 20th graduating class…”

“Mm,” Shen Jixing said, “I didn’t graduate.”

Dead silence.

The large conference room fell into deathly silence.

Pei Ming stood behind him, wondering what he was thinking.

But even as an outsider, he felt the pain of falling from the sky.

The manager crossed out the second item with his pen, then was about to continue when he felt a cold, sharp gaze fall on him.

It was the Vice President.

He was a shrewd man, and he changed his tack, “Then that’s enough. Currently, only these two items have been confirmed on the hot searches.”

“We can use other false rumors to refute these claims, focusing on the less important points and responding accordingly. Plus, you haven’t publicly admitted your identity, and we can rebuild your image later, but this time it will likely be a big blow…”

“Is, is it okay?”

Shen Jixing didn’t answer.

“Let’s do it this way.” Pei Ming spoke before him, “Currently, we can only…”

“Using false information to divert attention for crisis PR is called sophistry.”

It’s a common technique in public relations.

Shen Jixing looked up at Pei Ming, “Are you clinging to that sliver of hope, waiting to be caught in your own web later?”

Pei Ming was startled, “You—”

He just casually blurted it out?

The originally quiet conference room erupted into whispers.

Full of curses.

“What the f***???”

“Holy shit, so everything on the hot searches is true? Shen Yingdi really has a mysterious patron?”

“Who’s the male fan? Who’s the male fan?!”

“I don’t know, anyway, it’s not me.”

“We’re all fans of Shen Yingdi, he’s never been this warm towards us, what kind of little demon is this male fan…”

“Enough!”

An angry bang on the table suddenly rang out.

Chu Wen’s cold and stern gaze swept across everyone, and they all shrunk like quail.

He said to the PR manager, “Do it as you said, get to work.”

“Yes, yes.”

The manager clutched the documents and tried to escape this death space.

Then he just happened to look at Shen Yingdi one more time in the crowd.

And he froze.

Waaaaaaaaah QAQ

Shen Jixing seemed to ignore everything, his voice calm as water, “I said, wait and see.”

“Shen Jixing!”

Chu Wen suddenly stood up from his seat with a bang, striding to him, slamming his hands on the table in front of him—

“Must you be so stubborn?”
