You Claimed You Didn’t Love Me, So Why Cry Now That I’m Engaged? Chapter 114

Chapter 114: Are You Staying?

When Gu Huaiye went to take a shower, he didn’t forget to bring his luggage bag into the bathroom.

After taking his medicine and packing it back into the bag, he suddenly remembered the young Xie Miaohan who used to take his schoolbag into the shower with him, and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

Time really flew; he had actually stayed here for so many years.

Suddenly having to leave this place, he wasn’t completely without feeling. After all, he had raised Xie Miaohan for so long and had long since regarded him as everything.

Gu Huaiye looked at himself in the mirror. The smile on his face slowly vanished, replaced by a look of self-loathing in his eyes.

He remembered that in his previous two lives, he would always stand in front of the mirror admiring himself.

Chen Zirui used to say he was even more vain than an Omega.

But now… he was truly so ugly.

Ugly to the point that even one glance stirred revulsion.

Gu Huaiye simply looked away, refusing to look at the old and ugly person in the mirror.

Speaking of which, he had lived longer this time than in his previous two lives; it seemed he was quite lucky.

But he hoped Xie Miaohan could live even longer, preferably long enough that he couldn’t walk and all his teeth had fallen out.

Thinking of a white-haired Xie Miaohan, the corners of Gu Huaiye’s mouth couldn’t help but turn upward.

When he finished his shower and came out, opening the door, he smelled the aroma of food.

He turned to look and saw Xie Miaohan bending over, taking dishes out of takeout bags and filling the entire table.

“Why did you order so much?”

“It’s not much.” Xie Miaohan looked at Gu Huaiye, feeling both heartache and anger. “Brother, do you know how light your body was when I carried you to the hotel? I could barely feel your existence. What kind of life have you been living over there? How could you get so thin? Have you not been eating properly?”

Gu Huaiye’s eyes dodged the question. “Work has been busy; sometimes I forget to eat.”

“That won’t do. You can’t get any thinner, or you’ll get sick.”

Gu Huaiye remained silent.

“Brother, don’t go abroad anymore. We have enough money now, and the mortgage is paid off. I haven’t spent much of the living expenses you gave me; I’ve saved it all properly. You don’t need to worry about tuition either; I make good money tutoring. I can support myself.”

Gu Huaiye curved his lips into a smile. “I know.”

Otherwise, how could he dare to leave this place so easily?

Thinking his heart had softened, Xie Miaohan couldn’t help but ask in pleasant surprise, “Are you staying?”

Gu Huaiye was pulled back to reality by Xie Miaohan’s words and looked away evasively.

“We’ll see.”

“I knew you’d just brush me off,” Xie Miaohan muttered quietly. Then, seeing water droplets on the tips of Gu Huaiye’s hair, he went to the bathroom to get the hairdryer.

“Brother, let me dry your hair for you.”

“No need, just let it dry on its own.”

“You’ll catch a cold.”

Xie Miaohan forcibly pulled Gu Huaiye to sit at the vanity table, turned on the hairdryer, and began drying his hair with gentle movements.

Gu Huaiye didn’t want to see himself in the mirror, so he kept his eyes lowered, staring at the table and scratching the surface with his fingernail.

They hadn’t seen each other for four years. Xie Miaohan noticed that Gu Huaiye had grown many gray hairs, and his nose began to sting.

He had always hoped to grow up quickly, to become independent quickly so he could protect Gu Huaiye.

But he had forgotten that Gu Huaiye would age along with him, and his body would deteriorate.

Xie Miaohan turned off the hairdryer, bent down, and hugged Gu Huaiye.

Gu Huaiye was stunned. “What’s wrong?”

“Brother, you’ll always be with me, right?”

Gu Huaiye’s eyelashes trembled slightly; he actually couldn’t bring himself to lie to him.

receiving no answer, Xie Miaohan’s heart sank lower and lower, and he held Gu Huaiye even tighter.

“Brother, apart from you, I have nothing left. Stay this time, okay? You used four years to punish me; isn’t your anger gone yet? I haven’t taken that kind of medicine anymore. Just as you wished, I became an SSS-level Alpha. Look how obedient I am. So, can you forgive me?”

If Gu Huaiye left him for another few years, Xie Miaohan felt he would eventually go mad.

He didn’t understand. Gu Huaiye seemed gentle and soft, yet every time he made a decision, he was so heartless and cruel, leaving absolutely no room for negotiation.

Was he like this to everyone, or only to him?

Xie Miaohan also wondered if all of Gu Huaiye’s tenderness was given only to the man in the photo.

He shouldn’t be jealous of a dead man.

But he couldn’t control his heart, allowing dark emotions to breed wildly.

“Miaomiao, you have friends and your studies; you can’t always depend on me like this.” Gu Huaiye pursed his pale, dry lips and continued, “I told you, I’m not angry with you. I just wanted to… make our lives a little better, that’s why I chose to work abroad.”

“But we aren’t short of money anymore, are we?” Xie Miaohan said. “Brother, just say it. exactly how much money is needed to make you willingly stay in the country?”

“Xie Miaohan, what is wrong with you today?” A thin layer of anger appeared on Gu Huaiye’s face as he gritted his teeth. “Don’t tell me you want to drop out of school to work again?”

Xie Miaohan didn’t answer.

Gu Huaiye pushed away Xie Miaohan’s embrace, turned around, and glared at him.

“I’m giving you one last warning. My heart isn’t very good. If you want to anger me to death, then go ahead and drop out.”

Xie Miaohan’s breathing became ragged, and he hurriedly tried to soothe Gu Huaiye.

“I’m sorry, Brother, I won’t upset you anymore.” Xie Miaohan squatted down and placed his hand on Gu Huaiye’s chest. “Does it still hurt often? How about we go to the hospital tomorrow? The medical facilities in District B are much more advanced than in District A.”

“No need, it doesn’t hurt.” Gu Huaiye paused, then added, “As long as you don’t upset me.”

“Understood,” Xie Miaohan replied sullenly.

That night, they lay in the same bed.

Xie Miaohan’s heart was beating very fast, and he couldn’t calm down at all.

“Can’t sleep?” Gu Huaiye asked aloud.

“Mn, I’m a little happy.” Xie Miaohan rolled over and hugged Gu Huaiye from behind. “Do you know how much I missed you?”

“Yet you wouldn’t reply to my messages.”

Xie Miaohan “hmph-ed.” “You abandoned me, yet you want me to reply to your messages instantly? Keep dreaming.”

Gu Huaiye was amused by his words. “Quite the temper you have.”

“So, can you stay with me a little longer this time?” Xie Miaohan tightened his arms around the other’s waist.

“I’ll try my best.”

Xie Miaohan fell silent for a moment, his voice laced with uneasiness. “Brother, you said before that once I graduate from university, you wouldn’t leave again. Is that true?”

Gu Huaiye gave a vague answer. “Depends on your behavior.”

“Then I will definitely behave very well. I’ll be very good and listen to you.”

“That would be best.”

A few minutes later, Gu Huaiye pushed Xie Miaohan away and got up to go to the bathroom.

Xie Miaohan sat up, his brows knitted tightly together.

“Brother, you’ve gone to the bathroom many times tonight. Where exactly are you feeling uncomfortable?”

Gu Huaiye’s footsteps were a bit hurried as he tossed back a sentence: “Frequent urination.”

Xie Miaohan let out a laugh.
