Chapter 115: Ignore Him
“Brother, wake up, Brother…”
Gu Huaiye felt someone shaking his arm. He groggily opened his eyes to see Xie Miaohan looking worried.
“Brother, you’re finally awake. I’ve been calling you for a long time.” Xie Miaohan touched the sweat on his forehead. “You’re sweating so much; do you feel unwell somewhere?”
Gu Huaiye was dazed for a moment, then struggled to sit up.
Xie Miaohan hurriedly helped him.
“Maybe the heating in the room is too strong; I got a bit hot while sleeping.”
“Is that really it?” Xie Miaohan scrutinized Gu Huaiye with hesitation. “Brother, if you’re not feeling well, you must see a doctor. We absolutely cannot save money on this.”
“I know, I’m not an idiot.” Gu Huaiye changed the subject. “Let’s go, let’s head back to District A.”
“Won’t you stay a bit longer?” Xie Miaohan said, “It’s Brother’s first time in District B, right? Do you want me to show you around? My school is just…”
Gu Huaiye interrupted him. “No, let’s go back to District A. It’s New Year’s Eve in two days; we need to prepare the reunion dinner early.”
After accompanying Xie Miaohan for the New Year’s Eve dinner, he would quietly leave this world.
Hearing the words “reunion dinner,” Xie Miaohan’s eyes instantly softened. He leaned in and hugged Gu Huaiye.
“Brother, we haven’t had a reunion dinner together for four years. Before, I was always all alone. Whenever I saw the fireworks outside, I couldn’t help but hate you—hate you for leaving me here all by myself.”
Xie Miaohan buried his face in Gu Huaiye’s neck, deliberately pressing his lips against the collarbone as if kissing the other’s skin.
“There’s only a little over three years left until I graduate. You won’t leave again then, right?”
Xie Miaohan had already planned it out.
Once he graduated from university, he would confess to Gu Huaiye.
Even if Gu Huaiye didn’t accept him, it didn’t matter. He would wait forever until Gu Huaiye was willing to be with him, an Alpha.
He would prove to Gu Huaiye that he wasn’t weak and that he could overcome any difficulty.
He wouldn’t be like the man in that photo, selfishly leaving Gu Huaiye here, leaving behind endless loneliness and pain.
Come to think of it, Xie Miaohan had already forgotten what the man in the photo looked like; he only vaguely remembered that the person was very good-looking.
He knew Gu Huaiye always carried it with him.
Last night, when he was going through Gu Huaiye’s luggage, he saw that peeling wallet.
Xie Miaohan had hesitated for a long time before restraining himself from looking through Gu Huaiye’s wallet.
He was afraid that if he looked, he would get jealous.
It was just a person who had been dead for a long time.
He didn’t want to bring Gu Huaiye negative emotions because of this person.
“Alright, let go of me first.” Gu Huaiye pushed against his chest, feeling uncomfortable. “I’m covered in sweat; I want to go take a shower.”
“Promise me first.”
Xie Miaohan seemed to have a soft personality, acting coquettishly toward him at the drop of a hat. But at critical moments, his attitude was incredibly tough.
Gu Huaiye sighed helplessly, then gave a vague affirmative sound.
“Mn.”
Xie Miaohan smiled. “Brother is the best.”
“Hurry up and let go.”
“I know, I know, Stingy Brother.”
Gu Huaiye: “…”
Since the renovations on the house in District A were finished, Gu Huaiye hadn’t set foot in it again.
Looking around, luggage in hand, he actually felt somewhat awkward.
“Brother, what are you standing there for?” Xie Miaohan opened the largest room in the house and smiled at Gu Huaiye. “I’ve always kept Brother’s room. Whenever I come back, I clean it thoroughly, hoping that when Brother returns, he can live comfortably.”
He just hadn’t expected that Gu Huaiye would be gone for four years.
“Why aren’t you sleeping in the master bedroom?” Gu Huaiye looked disapproving. “I’m usually not at home anyway; isn’t it uncomfortable for you to squeeze into such a small room?”
“This is Brother’s house to begin with; of course, Brother should stay in the biggest room.” Xie Miaohan pushed Gu Huaiye toward the master bedroom. “Go on in. Sitting on the plane for so long must have been tiring. Brother, sleep for a while first; I’ll go to the supermarket downstairs to buy groceries and cook for you.”
Gu Huaiye thought for a moment and decided to cherish this hard-won time together.
“I’ll go with you.”
Xie Miaohan paused, then smiled. “Okay.”
When they arrived at the supermarket, Xie Miaohan insisted on holding Gu Huaiye’s hand.
“Brother, you have to hold on to me.”
Gu Huaiye rolled his eyes. “You’re not a child anymore.”
“When I was a child, you abandoned me and left for four whole years.” Xie Miaohan stuck close to him. “I don’t care, I want to make up for it all at once.”
Gu Huaiye wanted to tell him that even four years ago, he didn’t count as a child.
But given Xie Miaohan’s stance, it was clear he wasn’t willing to listen to reason.
Gu Huaiye couldn’t win against him, so he had to let it be.
Having lived three lives, he was actually seeing a very different Xie Miaohan in this life.
Confident and flamboyant, completely unlike the shadow of his previous two lives.
Perhaps with his intervention, the Xie Miaohan of the previous two lives had been thoroughly eradicated.
Whenever he had this conjecture, Gu Huaiye felt conflicted inside.
Was his intervention correct or not?
“Brother, what are you spacing out for?” Xie Miaohan suddenly spoke up. “I’m asking you what you want to eat tonight.”
Gu Huaiye gathered his thoughts and smiled. “It’s up to you; I’m fine with anything.”
“Then let’s do hotpot tonight.” Xie Miaohan tossed ingredients into the shopping cart while saying to Gu Huaiye, “You must gain ten pounds… no, twenty pounds before you can go back to work.”
Gu Huaiye almost couldn’t hold back his expression. “Twenty pounds? Do you think you’re feeding a pig? How long would it take to gain that much?”
Xie Miaohan put on a face of sudden realization. “Make it fifty pounds then. You’re not allowed to go back until you gain fifty pounds.”
Gu Huaiye was so annoyed he knocked on Xie Miaohan’s head.
“Trying to trap me, aren’t you?”
Xie Miaohan laughed twice and then clingily held Gu Huaiye’s hand again.
Gu Huaiye frowned and was just about to say that holding hands while shopping wasn’t necessary and was inconvenient.
Suddenly, a voice rang out behind them.
“Miaohan? What a coincidence.”
Gu Huaiye paused and looked back.
There were a few people who looked like students waving at them, especially the boy in the middle who looked extremely excited.
Xie Miaohan glanced at them as well; his expression seemed rather unpleasant as he pulled Gu Huaiye to keep walking.
“Ignore him.”
“Who are they?” Gu Huaiye asked curiously.
“Classmates.”
“Since they’re classmates, you should say hello to them. You can’t be so impolite.”
Xie Miaohan opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, the boy had already caught up and blocked their path.
“Miaohan, you’re back in District A? Why didn’t you tell me? I could have picked you up at the airport. Have you received the notice for tonight’s party? Do you want to come?”
“I’m not going,” Xie Miaohan said coldly.
The boy looked defeated, then shifted his gaze and discovered Gu Huaiye.
“This Uncle is…”
If it were before, Gu Huaiye would definitely have corrected him to say “Brother,” but now he had self-awareness; he really did look old and ugly.
“Hello.” Gu Huaiye smiled at him.
Before the boy could speak, Xie Miaohan glared angrily at him. “Are you blind? He looks so young, why call him Uncle?”
The boy let out a surprised “Ah” and hurriedly bowed his head to Gu Huaiye.
“Brother, I’m sorry.”
Gu Huaiye waved his hand generously. “It’s okay. Actually, you can call me Uncle; I am indeed much older than you guys.”
