Chapter 131: They Didn’t End Up Together

Father Gu had originally intended for Gu Huaiye to take a break from his studies for a while, waiting until he had completely walked out of his grief before attending university.

“Brother Gu, I’m fine now. My dad let me out ages ago. Being suspended is actually pretty awesome; I’m going to parties everywhere now.”

Gu Huaiye choked up slightly. “I’m sorry.”

There was a silence on the other end before Chen Xialin laughed. “Brother Gu, actually, you don’t owe me an apology. Our engagement was never what you wanted anyway. You used to always protect me, so let me protect you for once.”

Gu Huaiye let out a muffled “Mhm.”

Chen Zirui often called Gu Huaiye, asking him out for drinks.

After Gu Huaiye refused too many times, Chen Zirui stopped asking, simply telling him to take good care of his health.

By their senior year, they had become quite distant, barely even chatting on WeChat.

It wasn’t just Chen Zirui; throughout his entire university life, Gu Huaiye barely interacted with his classmates.

He was always alone, moving back and forth between the library, his home, and the company.

Gu Huaiye looked at Chen Zirui’s WeChat Moments, which were filled with various parties and drinking sessions.
