“Why?” Chen Zirui was Chen Xialin’s brother, after all. Encountering this kind of situation, he naturally felt indignant on his brother’s behalf. “Why cancel the engagement out of nowhere? Wait, you weren’t joking just now? Do you really have feelings for me?”

“It has nothing to do with you,” Gu Huaiye said earnestly. “I simply don’t like your brother. Getting married forcefully without any emotional foundation would just be irresponsible toward him.”

“I am an Alpha, and your brother is an Omega. If one day our marriage fails and we end up divorced, who do you think will be the one hurt?”

“My brother.”

“I know where to go. Follow me.”

In the afternoon, Gu Huaiye found an excuse to shake off Chen Zirui and rushed to meet Xie Miaohan.

Xie Miaohan had just finished class and was standing in the teaching building, staring blankly into space. He didn’t even notice Gu Huaiye approaching.

“Hey, what are you thinking about?” Gu Huaiye tapped his shoulder.

Xie Miaohan snapped back to reality and flashed a gentle smile at Gu Huaiye.

“I was wondering if you would come.”

“Since I promised you, I would definitely come,” Gu Huaiye said, taking the initiative to hold Xie Miaohan’s hand. “What do you want for dinner tonight? It’s on me.”

Xie Miaohan took the gold bracelet out of his pocket with his other hand, his tone incredibly obedient.

“I got it back.”

Gu Huaiye immediately held out his wrist and said to Xie Miaohan, “Put it on for me.”

A look of surprise flashed through Xie Miaohan’s eyes.

“You’re willing to wear it?”

“Of course I am. You gave it to me before, so it was mine to begin with.” Gu Huaiye shook his hand at him, urging, “Hurry up and put it on.”

Xie Miaohan nodded, his breathing involuntarily slowing as he carefully fastened it onto Gu Huaiye’s wrist.

The moment the gold chain clicked shut, Xie Miaohan’s heart was filled with an emotion that felt as if he had secured this person by his side forever.

“It looks great.” Gu Huaiye’s eyes smiled. “This time I will wear it properly and won’t discard it easily again.”

Xie Miaohan felt this moment was surreal. His nose tingled, and he gave a muffled “Mhm.”

Gu Huaiye wrapped his arms around Xie Miaohan’s arm again.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you to eat something good.”

After dinner, Gu Huaiye took him directly to get a hotel room.

“The rental house will probably take two or three days to be ready. Stay with me in the hotel for these few days. Pack your luggage and move straight here.”

Xie Miaohan pursed his lips and whispered, “The things in the dorm were already cleared out by me.”

While Xie Miaohan went inside to shower, Gu Huaiye had a change of clothes delivered.

He knocked on the door. “Miaomiao, the clothes are here. Take them inside.”

Two seconds later, the bathroom door opened slightly. A beautiful, pale hand reached out, surrounded by misty steam, looking utterly alluring.

“Give them to me,” Xie Miaohan said.

Gu Huaiye stared at Xie Miaohan’s hand, not hearing a word he said.

Waiting for the clothes to no avail, Xie Miaohan leaned half his body out, looking at Gu Huaiye in confusion.

Gu Huaiye saw Xie Miaohan’s upper body, and his Adam’s apple bobbed.

How could he endure this?

Gu Huaiye barged straight in and tossed the clothes into the storage basket.
