Chapter 165: Actually So Obedient

When Chen Zirui woke up, his stomach felt terrible—he wanted to vomit but couldn’t.

He hadn’t drunk alcohol in so long that his tolerance had regressed. Last night, just a few glasses made him feel this bad.

He walked out of the room and habitually called out “Brother Gu,” but suddenly realized the master bedroom door was still tightly closed. Chen Zirui quickly shut his mouth and walked much lighter.

Chen Zirui checked his watch; it was already twelve noon.

Still hadn’t come out this late… could they still be exercising?

Chen Zirui swallowed and sat down cautiously on the sofa.

He had watched plenty of videos like that, but being in such close proximity for the first time made him inevitably nervous.

Chen Zirui picked up the TV remote, suddenly worried he might disturb the two inside, and gently put it back down.

Because of him, his legs were trembling constantly, and he couldn’t even sit on the sofa.

Chen Zirui witnessed Gu Huaiye’s abnormality the whole time, and his face turned even redder.

He should run early after lunch.

He was a massive lightbulb here.

“Brother Gu, you guys…” Chen Zirui’s expression was indescribable. “Pretty intense, huh.”

Gu Huaiye: “……”

He patted Chen Zirui’s shoulder. “No imagining things.”

Chen Zirui: It’s hard not to imagine.

“Did you buy your plane ticket?” Gu Huaiye changed the subject. “What time is the flight?”

“Bought it. Six this evening.”

Gu Huaiye nodded. “After you arrive in District A, tell me anytime if something comes up. Don’t worry about disturbing me.”

Hearing these words, Chen Zirui felt a bit moved.

He leaned forward and hugged Gu Huaiye. “Brother Gu, I’ll work hard to make a name for myself in the army so I can protect you guys later.”

Gu Huaiye gently patted Chen Zirui’s back and smiled. “Okay.”

He raised his eyes and met Xie Miaohan’s gaze.

Xie Miaohan was holding two hangover drinks, staring at Gu Huaiye with resentment.

“Drink the hangover cure first.”

Xie Miaohan walked over and handed one cup to Chen Zirui.

“Thanks, Sister-in-law.” Chen Zirui smiled at Xie Miaohan.

Xie Miaohan’s expression became unnatural, and the jealousy that had just risen vanished again.

He handed the other cup to Gu Huaiye, his tone gentle. “Careful, it’s hot.”

“Okay.” Gu Huaiye took a sip and looked up at Xie Miaohan. “What are we eating for lunch?”

Just as Xie Miaohan was about to answer, the doorbell rang.

“Is it your dad?” Chen Zirui asked.

“No, he stayed in District A for the New Year.” Gu Huaiye mumbled softly, “Who would it be at this time?”

Xie Miaohan picked up a blanket from the sofa and covered Gu Huaiye’s legs.

“I’ll go open the door,” Xie Miaohan said.

As Xie Miaohan walked toward the entryway, both Gu Huaiye and Chen Zirui craned their necks, looking over with eyes full of curiosity.

When the door opened and Xiang Wanxing’s face appeared, Chen Zirui’s expression changed.

“Why is it the poser!”

Xiang Wanxing took off his sunglasses and looked at Chen Zirui, who looked like he was facing a great enemy, with a faint smile.

“Who are you calling a poser?”

Chen Zirui: “……”

“You’re hallucinating. I didn’t say anything just now.”

“Why are you here?” Xie Miaohan frowned, staring at Xiang Wanxing. “There’s no meeting today.”

Xiang Wanxing gave a light chuckle, ignoring Xie Miaohan completely as he bypassed him and went straight into the living room.

He came in front of Chen Zirui, crossed his arms, and looked down at him.

“You didn’t run away from the army, did you?”

“Run away my ass. I got a permit.”

Xiang Wanxing raised an eyebrow. “Is that so? I thought a coward like you was running away, daring to stay out overnight, so I came specially to catch you.”

“Who’s a coward!”

Chen Zirui stood up indignantly. Realizing he was a head shorter than Xiang Wanxing, he silently sat back down.

“Besides, even if I really ran away, it wouldn’t be your turn to catch me.”

Xiang Wanxing laughed. “Stubborn mouth.”

Xie Miaohan closed the door and walked back into the living room.

“If there’s something important, I’ll go to your…”

Xiang Wanxing suddenly interrupted Xie Miaohan and flopped onto the sofa, deliberately squeezing toward Chen Zirui.

“We’re partners now. It’s too insincere of you not to invite me for a meal during the New Year.”

Xie Miaohan immediately understood Xiang Wanxing’s purpose for coming and didn’t bother trying to persuade him. He said to Gu Huaiye, “I’ll go make lunch.”

“I’ll help you.”

Gu Huaiye was just about to get up when Chen Zirui grabbed his sleeve.

“Brother Gu, don’t leave me.”

This was a big pervert. He didn’t dare be alone with him, afraid of being taken advantage of.

Gu Huaiye had no choice but to sit back down.

With Gu Huaiye there, Chen Zirui instantly felt bolder.

“Hey.” Chen Zirui looked at Xiang Wanxing. “You’re so rude. You don’t even change your shoes when entering someone’s house.”

He thought he would have a fight with Xiang Wanxing like in the army.
